Geist (played by hexblading)

Geist sat at the house's porch, not sure what to expect. The concept of a trick-or-treating had been explained to him, but only just barely. Like most things, they go in one ear and out the other as people moved their mouths in front of him, the meaning moving past by miles as they spoke. Apparently he didn't quite need to dress up; tattered clothes that move with the shadows and a half-mask in the shape of metal jaws were enough a costume to some. To quote Rosaline and A'sraha, he already looked like quite the swamp monster.

Clacking his metal-tipped claws together, Geist waited patiently on the barely-lit porch, slowly rocking in his chair for a visitor to arrive. There was a little carved-out pumpkin by his side, with some candies in it --none of them chocolate, so he wouldn't eat them instead- for those who'd be out celebrating.

Well... all there was to do then was to wait.

Keet was very (c)lucky to have friends kind enough to dole out candy at her tree house while she partook in a little fun festivities of her own. Her costume of choice was simple, but comfortable and cute! The skirt ruffled behind her as she scurried on all fours from home to home, and soon her sack of treats dragged heavy behind her.

It wasn't long until the bag exploded from a bad case of road rash, and the bewildered bird burst into crocodile tears as her hard-earned treasures spilled onto the grass outside the house.

[My candy! It's "Roloing" away!] she cried as the Rolos rolled towards Geist's door.
Dress up as a human, they said, it would be fun, they said! No matter how relative the definition of 'fun'was, Randle was absolutely freaking dead set on the fact that there was nothing even remotely enjoyable about walking around a friendly neighborhood in a silicone-and-borrowed-clothes costume. Pink, rubbery skin flapped loosely on his muzzle like a oversized superhero mask, easily distracting one from the burning silver gaze that sprayed through the hyper-unrealistic eye holes. His wig, a piss-like shade of yellow in color, rested between his ears like a crown of shame. There were no bushes to beat around: he looked as ugly as ugly could get. A freak in his own right, pushed to the bloodcurdling max.

But oh well, the kid wasn't allowed to stray around town on shady autumn nights like these, and someone aside from the lovely couple had to make sure that that boy grew up with a healthy amount of candy in his life. An amiable promise became reality, and here he was, taking part in a children's tradition, demolishing all self-respect he'd once had while at it. Hopefully his Trick-or-Treating victim had a good sense of humor..

As Randle skulked about in the shadows, trying to avoid the looks of as many fellow adults as possible - which, due to his staggering height and generally ominous aura was quite tall an order -, he at one point hit the quieter outskirts of town, where he'd hoped to find himself encountering some retired Ferae who'd forget about their meeting within a month. Instead, he stumbled across a humble house owned by a metal-beaked birdman, currently accompanied by another birdman.. or, uh, critter. He wasn't interrupting any sort of obscure avian get-together, was he now? Grasping the shreds of courage fleeing into the depths of his psyche, Randle gulped in a confident breath, and approached the quaint mob of two.

Upon closer investigation, it turned out there was no secret meeting to speak of: the more vibrant of the two bird-like folks sat weeping on the grass, crying over lost candy by the looks of it, while the other, more humanoid in appearance, seemed to be having himself a laid-back time in his rocking chair. Darn, quite the loss for a young soul to go through..

"Trick or.. eh, you alright over there, kid? Lemme help ya with that-" His eyes shot from the chilling masked man to the whimpering creature in front of him, before he tormented his back by bending over to retrieve a handful of the dropped sweets. Their intense, sweet smell was intimidating; what a darn priviledge it would be to be able to eat those! "There. Say, hadn't expected to come across a locale so festive in this part of town. Seems to me that ya having yourself quite the soiree, eh?" Ugh, Halloween. Once a holiday with a rich history, now reduced to a cash-grabbing capitalist market stunt. Randle changed his frown of sympathy to a jolly good smirk when he addressed the metal-beaked man, putting one feet up on his porch as he looked back at the griffin-like critter, hoping they'd regained enough good spirits to join him.

Truth was, Randle actually had no idea how he was supposed to ask a total stranger for candy they'd bought with their own money, and kinda preferred to observe someone in the appropriate age range show him how one pulled that trick, first..
Seykal (played by Leighoflight)

So far things had been successful, Seykal's baby sister had fallen completely asleep and there was no way nor will to wake her up. He held the tiny creature dressed like a bumblebee close to him with the lower set of arms. She clung to him like a barnacle, he'd have to try hard to pry her off once this was all finished.

As they approached the next house, the owner of this house looked absolutely terrifying but if they were giving out free food he'd brave it. Something had happened with a bird creature and.....was that thing wearing the flesh of another as an outfit....."Oh..no...." Seykal took a couple more steps back, not liking this one bit. He'd watch what the flesh monster with yellow hair did to the bird first before deciding to run away or not. It hadn't turned into a massacre just yet...

Keet.

Geist was quick to act; he got up from his chair and jumped over the railing to where the candies rolled in the dark. Deftly and with a quickness easily described as enthusiastic, Geist gathered up the pieces of candy as best he could.

Dropping them into a little, animated satchel woven from the darkness at his feet, Geist knelt to the creature as it cried its tears; disingenuous as they were, it struck a melancholic cord in the fae's heart.

"Do not cry. If you wanted help, all you needed do was ask." He said, offering the shadow-bag of candies to the creature. "Here."

Randle.

Geist's scarlet eyes looked up to the new voice, narrowing at the sight of two faces where there should be only one. It took him a moment to remember that this was an occasion where people intentionally dressed up, often adorning masks over their faces the same way he did. But this one had a peculiar choice of costume, one that intrigued Geist to a certain point.

He grabbed the stranger by the arm and dragged him closer, so much so that their masked noses almost touched, and Geist breathed deep.

"...Favours for friends forced to find shelter in the dark, no one can see him or he'll be in trouble. You can take as many candy from the pumpkin as you like. The child deserves some candy, and the child in you deserves to take."

Seykal.

Another strange creature happened upon his humble doorstep, and just like the other two, they were the furthest cries from human. Geist let go of Randle's arm to walk up to this strange creature to stop just short of their radius once he found a little bundle in their lower arms. Better not scare the child.

"Hello," Geist said, voice lowered to a whisper, "Would you like some candy? I have candy corn and lollipops, gummy bears and gooey middles."

"Oh, what's the little one's name?"
Seykal (played by Leighoflight)

Seykal’s third eye blinked repeatedly at what it saw, this bird creature was fae, of which his kind weren’t on the best of terms with as most either avoided or outright hated his kin. At yet here before him he observed this raven being helpful to others?? what was this..

As Geist approached closer Seykal held onto his baby sister a little bit tighter for protections sake. He didn’t seem aggressive but quite the opposite. Sey relaxed his stance and shifted his hold on the bumblebee in his arms. “Yes please…anything is fine…” they wouldn’t be eating it but hoped to trade it for something else once they’d gathered a decent amount of the sugary sweets. “This is Saela” Introducing the tiny one in his arms who was fast asleep “She’s only 11 months old, this is her first trick or treating.” he explained with a nervous smile and his tail between his legs.

Sorrow morphed into primal fear as the poor, well-intentioned Randle came into view. Uncanny was an understatement—his costume was down right terrifying! A squawk tore from the partial parrot's throat as she perceived his fleshy face, and a downpour of feathers was the only evidence she was ever there after she took wing. Keet didn't go far—only onto the roof of the house, where her claws dug into the tiles lest she slip and fall.

[Eek! Y-you're not human.. what are you?] she watched in terror as he dug through her stash.. just to help Geist return it to its rightful place in her bag.

Someone was feeling awfully silly as it became apparent that he was friendly! Leaping back onto the lawn, she approached with her ears pressed flat against her head.

[..Sorry I called you scary..]

And now she had a new bag, courtesy of a fellow birbfriend! Alas, in his current form she didn't catch on to the birbier aspects of Geist's magic.

[ I won't cry anymore!] she promised, then immediately buried her face in pouch. Emerging, she placed a beakful of candy at Seykal's feet for the little one to partake. Sharing was caring, right?

Several things happened at once. Geist was overwhelmed with the sight of a child-- so precious, a newborn life is- and he hastily removed the claws on his hands to reach out to the child, looking to Seykal as if looking for their approval before gently stroking the young one's head.

"The night is still young, but so are you. Yet you labour with your love, lingering but not lost. You may take as many candy from my porch as you like, but they will only go to your belly. The child should not eat too much treats at such an age, it will only form bad habits. But if you trade the sweets, I will be very disappointed."

Then he turned to the dressed bird, noticing how she placed the fruits of her hunt --so to speak- at the feet of a stranger. Oh, her heart was light and filled with mirth.

"That is very kind of you to part of your bounty. You too, may take more from my pumpkin... Where is my pumpkin? Ah, there it is..." Geist said, his voice airy and fleeting like a phantom floating above ground. He might as well have moved like that, and went right back to Seykal and Keet with the candy bowl in his hands.

"Take as many as you wish. Make merry of the night."

Keet had been so distraught over the breaking of her bag that she'd forgotten why she came here in the first place! She nearly teleported to Geist when he held the bucket from which she was to take, but allowed Seykal to have first pick for the sake of the child. When it came down to it, Halloween was really for them, anyway!

[Thank you, thank you, thank you!] she bobbed up and down in anticipation of additional sweets regardless of the copious amounts of sugar she'd already consumed that evening!
