Hello!
I've seen some players make spotify playlists, pinterest boards, tumblr blogs, instagram feeds and so on for their characters. I thought it would be a fun thing to try out for my own characters, but I want to hear other players thoughts on this;
if you make any of these for your characters, what are your experiences? if you don't, do you like seeing them on characters profile to get to know them or do you not look at them? c: tell me everything!
RimCaster

Hmm yeah that's some interesting stuff (at least first two imo)
However my characters would avoid going near social media and anything related to that. Even if somehow they used social media it wouldn't be often as they would rather use sms and call each other.

Honestly I don't mind them but more often than not I will avoid(that doesn't change the fact that I can appreciate effort put in character profile)

I don't like social media at all and the direction it is going. However social medias aren't inherently bad or good. It's the people behind it that make it good or bad but also the responsibility depends on users of said service.
(Kind of like hammer it can thurst in the nail in the plank or kill person, all depends on intent and use of the tool)
Well... not exactly. I have a Sketch account, but I don’t talk as my characters. Interesting idea though!

I have come to find that I adore how people put time into making a playlist, collage, etc. so their partners can get a sense of their characters! It also seems like a great way to show off some creativity :)

I love social media, hahah - though I do think it should be used with care and all :’)

I haven’t heard of Sketch! Can you possibly enlighten me on what it is? ^^
I make Pinterest boards for my characters to get a feel for their "aesthetic" lol. Apart from that, the closest I've gotten to making social media for my characters is drawing selfies and snapchat posts. I think snapchat drawings are super fun because you get a peek into what kind of pictures and comments that character would make.

My sociable alien girl would try to post selfies every now and then, but only to show off outfits and hairstyles. She'd also take pictures of cute plants, animals, and food, but the pictures would be shaky and low quality. Her comments would be very casual and full of text smileys instead of emojis - the only emojis she'd use would be food, stars, and hearts. Oh and her profile picture would probably be of her in front of her flower shop.

My chill mechanic girl wouldn't bother with selfies, but she'd take before and after pics of repairs, and probably some pictures of her finished customs, paint jobs, and her personal motorcycle. She'd definitely be more of a lurker than a poster. All of her posts would be short, sweet, and professional and her profile picture would be her logo/signature.

I might consider Spotify playlists, those sound fun to make too. I just haven't used Spotify before so the thought never crossed my mind.

I think that sounds really interesting! How do you make them?
I always feel like it’s fun to get a look into characters lives and how they portray themselves on social media vs their ‘real life’

I’ve also seen other players do the same with playlists, just on youtube instead :)
I make Pinterest boards, YouTube playlists, and Google documents for all of my newer characters! They help keep me inspired and form a cohesive idea about who the character is. All of these things are OOC, though. I don't think I'd have enough time to run anything IC.

i used to keep a pinterest board for almost every character back in active days of yore. it's a great resource for visuals. did a few IC tumblrs just for giggles (and visual purposes, before shifting that aspect fully to pinterest). can't say i've ever actively updated something like twitter or facebook from a character's POV, though.
Corbeau (played by Auberon)

I run a pretty involved blog on my character in place of a journal that I update a few times per week. She has tags for IC related things (not that it's functional), and it adds a nice bit of commentary and fleshes out who she is a bit. It can get a bit spammy though, which is why this character is anon. I got a few complaints about too many journal notifications. ;)

Sketch is a drawing app, of course, which is used for various things. I’ve seen people roleplay in the comments, post drawings that are either traditional or digital, make or work on collaborations, basically do anything here. We need to mention people though (@, only including this because it’s sometimes different) if they don’t own the post, because only then will they give you the notifications. Of course, it also incorporates a follower option in which people can get notifications every time you post a picture. The logo itself is a black and white eraser with a rainbow coming out of the white top. It’s fun, I do recommend it.

That sounds very time-consuming but since you mention that it is ooc I assume that you do it whenever you feel like it? I think that sounds wise, so you're not really held up on anything if you've lost motivation or if you're busy :)

I understand that actively keeping up with an oc's social media, realistically, can be a lot of extra work and such and I think that's why I really like looking at other players characters pinterest boards. I feel like it really helps give the reader / partner a general idea of who the character is without really having been introduced to them!

I adore the idea of a journal, it sounds so realistic! Like you say, I can imagine that it really helps give a picture of who she is without interacting with her. I do see how the updates can be found irrelevant for your friends who might be roleplaying with another of your characters but I personally love seeing updates on my roleplay partners characters - luckily, that function is able to being turned on and off as we wish c;

Oh, that sounds interesting and fun! I might take a look at it sometime; thank you for the recommendation (:
