Whilst showering, I put a bit too much Head and Shoulders on my greasy hair and it ran down my face and I ended up swallowing a trivial amount. I have the taste in the back of throat still. It's been an hour. What do?

Lol. Is this really a question? You're so funny. Well, I guess it happens. Head and Shoulders... that probably has a very medicated taste, yuck. Not that Herbal Essence would taste good, perse...

Hmm. I recommend gargling with mouthwash. Can you gargle? Or half mouthwash, half water (sometimes mouthwash is so strong). Or saltwater. Or...just drink a lot of water. That's how we get shampoo our of our hair, right? So it should work with getting out of your throat.

*nods with certainty*

Or gargle some scotch really good and swallow it....

Oooh. I'll bet that would do it. And if not, then you still have had a shot of scotch, so you win either way. :p

Or...maybe eat a jalapeno. :)

This might sound strange, but having been a sickly child I found various ways to rid my tastebuds from the horrible assault of various medications. Every time I would take my syrups, I would chase it with... lunch meat. There is something about the fibrous texture coupled with the savory flavor that helps rid the bitterness.

Not sure if it is the same but I found that milk or wine works for getting rid of the aftertaste of particularly nasty medication. Just donโ€™t...try it at the same time.

I totally forgot I made this thread.
And I wish I can down it with alcohol, but alas, t h i s _ i s _ a m e r i c a and I'm not legally allowed. Next year though, I can in case something like this ever happens again.

The lunch meat idea is interesting. I'll keep this in mind.

Rules are made to be broken, my friend. :P (joking)

Well I am not sure about you, but I know that I am sometimes a bad influence. :P

I couldn't tell! :p hehe

So you're the devil on people's shoulder, ay?

Nah...I just enjoy it and like to bluster about it. In reality I drink like twice a month. :p

Anyway, cheers! ๐Ÿฅ‚ ๐Ÿ’•

You could try swallowing a trivial amount of their competitors shampoo....how about L'oreal or Pantene? I'm not going to promise this will work but it seems like a(n) good idea to me!

Disclaimer: do not try this, it's a bad idea. The Voldarian Empire discourages anyone from swallowing shampoo for any reason.

Avi gonna try and solve this with chemistry! Or at least chemistry theory. It's definitely overkill for the answer I thought of, but hopefully fun! ^v^

So, soaps are neat in that the main functional molecules have both a hydrophobic and a hydrophilic end, as a result of having polar and non-polar components. That's how they work. Since water is polar, non-polar materials (like many organic compounds) don't disolve in water. The non-polar parts of the soap bind to those making.... essentially capules where the outsides are polar/hydrophilic, and so will be carried away by water.

SO! If water isn't doing it.... milk. Milk is a water-based non-polar colloid. It has lots of non-polar molecules (fats, proteins) suspended in the very polar water. I've not tested milk vs soap, but it seems like the best bet that also tastes good.

I'll also take the chance to remind people that spices are non-polar, so drinking water after spicy stuff just makes it even harder to get off of your taste buds. Drink milk instead! ^v^

TL;DR, if water doesn't work for a given gross taste residue problem, milk probably will.

I just used water.

Tried that, didn't really work as it came back a few seconds later with a vengeance. It's gone now, of course.
