Pfah, my walruses carrying a ton of fish are only going to return from the war right after the spawn, of course.

That's been a common theme. 
How long does it take them to travel?
i was confused too in the beginning
It depends on how you adjust the company at the base camp.
More wayfinders = more speed
More wagons = less speed
And then you can tell them to prioritize speed if you're sending them to a particular location.
But it usually takes about 5 minutes or so to shift a hex
More warriors = less chance of disbanding and waiting hours for them to appear again.
Also, they travel faster over water than land.

I sent them to the hectagon on thing a few hex’s from camp, with forage as a priority, so, low speed then?
