I don't know if this is feasible, but I would love a button so I can preview my forum post or pm before actually posting it so I can make sure it's formatted well ahead of time.

There already is! It is the eye icon in the menu bar above the text box

Granted, the preview hasn't been available the whole time you've been here; pretty sure it was recent years it was added, though I can't remember exactly when. I think the announcement for it might have been a quiet or cluster one, too, since it's such a minor thing.

But yeah, it exists! It only shows the post with the overall site settings, so it won't look quite the same when you're editing a group or character widget, for example, but it's still handy.

I love the preview eye! It has even improved from when I first used it. Used to be if I previewed and made a change and previewed again, it went back to the beginning of my post. Now, it stays where I was at when I saw my typos and they change right in front of me!

It was here since the beginning! I think what you're thinking of was a time when it was temporarily disabled and then restored.

Was it in all places? Brain's trying to be insistent about groups, at least, but good chance it's mixing up other changes that happened with groups.

Oooo you are challenging my memory. I'm sure there have been places where I disabled it for a bit to try and figure out how to get it to work in a specific situation, but I can't them anymore.
