It’s been my experience on this site that when you make a character, you’re asked to add warnings for various graphic content, and for many of us, we do. Every box is checked, every option is written out. Yet, despite that, warning messages pop up on the Home Screen, and often, it’s asking to add more warnings, even when there is no more warnings to add.
While we still should have those warnings and flags, there are a lot of profiles on this site that are geared towards adults, and if the warnings are constantly being asked for, obviously shouldn’t be viewed by someone under the age. The question is, is there any way to add a button in character settings that would prevent underage users from seeing those pages, much like the groups have the “No one under *certain age* can view/apply to this”? Option. I was just wondering if something like that could be added to the Character Settings page.
Dually, it would act as a protection for the adults who adamantly do not want to RP with underage players from being contacted, or even duped into an RP with someone underage, even by those writing under anonymous profiles.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to spark a discussion! Let me know your thoughts!

If you're asking for an option to make it so underage people can't view your character profiles, that is already a thing. When editing a character's settings (the same section where you can set the name, gender, tagline, and if it's anonymous or public, etc) you can select profile visibility. Along with the options like "draft mode" and "published to all", there are "only logged in users" and "only logged in users in my age group." You'd want the latter.
You can also pick in your privacy settings to make it so only people in your age group can message you.
If you mean to only mark specific pages on a given character profile as unavailable to underage people... I have no comment, really. Maybe it could be added? Idk.

Well, thank you for that, I genuinely hadn’t seen that before!
But out of curiosity, what is the “age group?” For example, I’m in my 30s, so is it only like other 30 year olds, or is it genuinely just like “they’re not 18, so no access” kinda thing?
Just asking for clarification!

I think the 'age group' is an adult/minor 18+ line. I know groups can have a 21+ setting.
Also, in account settings under 'comfort and privacy settings', there is 'Profile Content Warnings' and Image Content Warnings' selections you can tick to opt out of getting the warning every time.

I would be super into expanded age groups.

Please, younger friends, I still love you. I’m just closer and closer to 40 and sometimes that makes me feel weird.

This is exactly why I was asking.
This is correct. You can prevent people under 18 from seeing your character profiles entirely by switching the character settings "Profile Visibility" to "Logged in users in my age group"
You can make this even stricter by only allowing people who have gone through the ID verification process to prove they are an adult by going to (on the dropdown behind your username) Account Settings > Comfort & Privacy Settings and changing "When I set something to "my age group..."" to "Only count those who have gone through the age verification process"
Keep in mind that some countries don't have IDs that can go through this process, and not everyone has cash laying around to go through the process, and some of those that do do not feel comfortable. So you'll cut off some actual adults as well, but you might feel better cutting that way than the other. Both options are totally valid.

If you're getting prompts to add warnings for things that can't have more warnings added to them, you may want to submit a bug report about it!

Thank you! I genuinely thought the “logged in users” option was for like searching the profiles, not viewing them. Silly me 🤣
