Hello everyone!
It occurred to me recently that I never did post an actual introduction on the website, and even though I'm a moderator of a few years, a lot of people don't really know much about me.
My name is Auberon, and I'm a Twitch affiliate and freelance illustrator. I've been on the RPR since a few months after it was founded, and I've been RPing since before a lot of you were born. I started off with pencil and paper RP, drawing my character's face or full body and writing their dialogue. These "comics" had a following in my school, and we'd pass the sketchbooks around for people to read as we filled them up.
Eventually I transitioned to RPing with friends on AOL, then moved to AIM. I spent a good deal of time on Furcadia, so some of you probably know me from there as Alluvial (Alluvial Ink is my streamer/art name). I contributed to official graphics and led the volunteer art team for a while (I succeeded Kim when she left to create the RPR and pursue other projects!). I also did hundreds of custom avatars for private clients, and gosh, probably in the neighborhood of a thousand icons/portraits.
I ran a modern fantasy group for about eight years, which would peak at 200 or so characters online at any given time. It was very stressful, but rewarding at times. It was set in a fictional city in Louisiana named New Versailles. I still play AUs of some of the characters that came out of that world. (You may have seen me posting about Corbeau, who is one of my favorites.)
Over the past year and change, I've been working on my first novel of a planned series with a friend. It's dark faerie romance fantasy, set in the Arcadian Isles where fae courts vie for political power and control over territories. An Unseelie princess finds herself crossing paths with a mysterious stranger who wields the shadow magic of Obsidian Court gentry, yet seems to have ties to the mortal lands.
We're hoping to be fully in the beta reading stage by spring, and I'm very excited!
I've also done a bunch of assorted art for the RPR, including the Epic Week cake slices, the Epic Week comics (for the last few years), all of the Lemonade Stand treats (the hippocampi were by Ilmarinen), the Phoenix icons, and a few assorted icons from the Bake Sale. I absolutely love to help Kim out with graphics wherever I can.
Lastly, I live with several disabling conditions that I'm very open about. I've got Bipolar 1 Disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and two autoimmune diseases - Celiac and Sjogren's Syndrome. If you're curious about any of these, please feel free to ask. I love to educate people about them, since there are a lot of misconceptions, and Sjogren's especially isn't well known or understood.
If you ever need help, please feel free to reach out! I try super hard to reply to PMs in a timely manner as my health allows, although I've recently returned to college after a 16 year hiatus, so my availability may be a wee bit more spotty. But I promise I'm friendly and love to help out!
It's nice to meet you all.

It's nice to meet you all.
It’s very nice to meet you! I guess the following picture is kind of unnecessary butt nonetheless!
Oh….
Hi Auberon
“Welcome” to RPR!!
This is so weird to do this, but as you did the effort to make this ‘introduction’ post. On me to, well, “welcome” you. The name Auberon has appeared several times in my message box, always friendly. Ok most of the time after having nuked a bot. Your ‘CV’ is impressive of course, not many could say same.
Honestly I never thought one could RP in a Comic, if so, this one here started RP in, wait, 6th grade primary, I imagined my first character, James.
But enough about me, this is Auberon’s thread and I wanted to add, not welcome, but rather’Thank you’ to be there on RPR
Enjoy you ‘introduction post’ thread

Woah Auberon! :0 you’ve drawn A LOT! Its so lovely to get to know you better, but I just have to ask- what do you use to draw? Whats your favorite drawing program? How have you maintained the health of your hands and wrists after drawing so much???
Welcome to RPR

And I so appreciate your bot reports! The server does flag suspicious activity, but sometimes they slip through the cracks, so community members bringing them to our attention is VERY helpful.

My background is actually in traditional media. I mostly did watercolors and pen and ink in the past, but for practical reasons (art supplies are expensive), I almost exclusively do digital art these days.
My current setup is an XP-Pen Artist 24 Pro monitor tablet. I had a Cintiq for about a decade, and honestly, this is a VERY good replacement for pricy Wacom tablets. Wholeheartedly recommend XP-Pen products.
I used to work in Paint Tool SAI 2 exclusively, but my current main program is Clip Studio Paint Ex. I use it for... pretty much everything! I also use Photoshop for animation (CSP has an animation feature, but I really need to hunker down with tutorials...) and post-production touch-ups/corrections.
My wrists have held up pretty well! Having a large drawing surface helps with that tremendously. I was developing carpal tunnel in high school and college because I was working on a 4"x6" Graphire 3 tablet. Ever since I started working on larger tablets, I've been fine. I also try to take stretch breaks every hour when I'm working/streaming, which helps a lot. I do have to be mindful of my body because my Sjogren's means I'm at risk to develop other rheumatoid diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis.
I forgot to mention in my introduction, I'm also queer! I identify as genderfluid/transgender, and my pronouns are he/she/they. I'm also on the aromantic spectrum and bisexual. So if you ever need help from a mod and want someone who can empathize with queer issues, I would be more than happy to assist.

Even though I'm a moderator, I do still find time to RP here and there. I mostly write on Discord and Google Docs these days. Being a moderator on RPR is genuinely a really enjoyable experience. Kim's an amazing boss, and we have so many built-in tools to use. It's really great!
Pleasure to formally meet you, Auberon! Thanks for all you do for the site! (:
