Francis didn't think anything of the smudge. Maybe some of Ripley's healthy skepticism was rubbing off on him. At her warning, he crouched down in a very obvious "I'm hiding" pose, not realizing that made him even more conspicuous.
"Wow, what a big family." Livia commented. Francis' eyes widened.
"Hey, that's Brodi!" he hissed. She watched him expectantly, waiting for the moment when he would finally realize that Brodi had been making excuses.
"He must be visiting his friend."
Livia slapped her forehead again. Truly, Francis was proof that book smarts weren't everything.
"Wow, what a big family." Livia commented. Francis' eyes widened.

Ripley stared at Francis. "Really?" she said so dryly it would dehydrate an ice cube. She shook her head. "Okay. So. We've established people live there, and a good number of people. Seven, if both parents are here. Or six plus a visiting friend," she added, glancing at Francis. "That's a lot of people to haunt. What's next?"
