THEY'RE MULTIPLYING!!111
Okay, not really.
Meet Minke, Dette's new best friend! Or at least they will be. 
He is a beautiful, deaf white shorthair with gorgeous green eyes. His first owner named him Ice. He grew up in a very crowded home with many dogs, cats, birds and children in the household. When he was about a year or so old, his first owner found him a new home with my friend. (Happens to the be same friend who made sure I got Dette!)
Ice can be a bit noisy because he can't hear himself, so he meows loudly and at the beginning, he was yowling quite a bit at night as well. My friend got him calmed down enough where he didn't do it anymore, but with that issue over he kept sneaking up on my friend's other male cat and they fought quite a bit. He has a tear in one of his ears where the other cat caught him but it healed up nicely.
Due to this constant fighting, my friend tried everything to get him to stop. Her own cat who has been with her for two years started to hide and was constantly restless. She even held Ice in the shower when he was exceptionally aggressive and it didn't help at all. So she asked if I, perhaps, wanted to take him in.
I wasn't sure at first. It's another cat to take care of, with more potential vet bills. But whenever I visited my friend with Dette, she was always playing with him and he tolerated her eccentric kitten behavior well. My friend brought Ice over a couple of times to get him used to my apartment and to Dette, and last time he was here he just fell asleep on a dresser and Dette even laid down with him.
So today he's staying the night. He might yowl again, but so far he's only expressed his discontent with Dette when she crossed the line and he meowed a few times for attention, so I'm crossing my fingers that everything will be fine. (Dette needs to learn the social boundaries, and he's not mean or anything, he just corrects her with a swat and a hiss, maybe a short chase, and then she lays off)
Considering he's deaf it's a little different communicating with him. He makes a lot of eye-contact and by rubbing my finger and thumb together, he knows he's invited to come over and be petted. Talking to my friend I decided to rename him; it doesn't matter to the cat and my friend didn't name him herself, otherwise I would have kept his name.
Minke is a Frisian name, which means "Power" or "Strength".
Dette is also a Frisian name, which means "Protector of the People".
I thought it was quite an epic combination!
My last name also happens to be of Frisian origin, and our dog is a Frisian Staby as well. It feels wrong not to use a Frisian name.

And thank you, he will have an excellent home here. My friend was amazed at how much more relaxed he was in my house which he only visited twice, compared to the house he stayed in for 2 months.

From day one I've exposed Dette to numerous other animals, including the family dog and the six cats in my sister's household. So she gets along with other animals just fine fortunately. She also isn't territorial at all, which surprised me. She just wants to play!
I took Minke and Dette to my parents' house today and although Minke was hissing at the dog, as long as he could be on the table and the dog off the table it was fine. Then he and Dette huddled up in the travel basket and slept for a bit.
Dette was a bit obnoxious last night by provoking him into chasing her. Apparently she thinks it's awesome when he goes after her hissing and swatting.... Ahem. So I told him to go beat her little arse up (not like he heard it). When they took down my lamp, candles and tree this morning though, I gave Dette a time-out by locking her up in the basket for half an hour until she calmed down. She didn't like it, but since she got out she's been very nice to Minke and they even sleep together in the same dog basket now. When either of them starts to hiss at the other, I just firmly smack their noses and they're cool again.

Minke and Dette are getting along so well!! 
I dragged them to my parents' place last night and Minke finally got comfortable enough to just wander and explore the house. He found Binky's (the dog) kibble and started eating it... Ahem.
Then this morning Minke climbed into the basket where Dette was sleeping, laid on top of her and began to groom her all over. Dette just kind of stretched out to get washed everywhere and then they slept together. It was the cutest moment ever!
My friend also brought them a kitty tunnel to play in.

It's good you understand how to discipline cats. My sister always gets mad at me when I use the spray bottle on one of our cats, but they have to learn somehow!

I can do that with Ruffles, my cat, as well ! She used to be one of those 'near you, but not ON you' cats, but she's turning out to be quite the lap cat now. She follows me everywhere like a little puppy, too, it's GREAT.

Oh god Minke just jumped out of the window. It's such a beautiful weather I decided to air out my apartment, and the two of them behaved wonderfully by sitting near it but not jumping out or getting too close.
I look away for two minutes and Minke is just... gone. Can't find him anywhere. I didn't believe it at first that he might have jumped out, but as he was literally nowhere to be seen, I decided to go outside. There's a staircase from the courtyard leading up to the grass field, and I saw something white sitting at the top just around the corner of the wall there. It was Minke!
When I started to go up the stairs he saw me and immediately came to me. I picked him up and brought him inside.
To keep the window open I put him on the leash which I fixed to the radiator to the wall. So he can't jump now, but he's very loudly complaining about not being able to go outside now! Silly cat.

cats either love or loathe outdoors. Tom is terrified of it, kratos waged war to go outside, and fat jack will do whatever it takes to get in... Even knocking down anything standing up which was why he was put out to start with. Looks like you have an outdoor lover. watch it, cats are tricksy hobbitses.
Oh I am keeping an eagle's eye on this fellow!! I don't like having an outdoor cat because the idea of them getting hit by traffic terrifies me. Him being deaf makes that fear 10 times worse because he doesn't hear anything or anyone coming. But, I'm surprised he only went as far as he did. There's a LOT of space around here for cats to roam, but he didn't go very far at all. At least I know he won't take off like a rocket when he does get out.
Dette is curious but too frightened of the outdoors to do much more than stick her head out the window and dashing back inside if there is ANY noise at all, so I'm not worried about her.

...i am being catted right now. Calypsos kittens are still with us (she still lets them nurse wtf), and they pranced and pounced onto the bed and are choosing to settle around me as i txt. Tiny Bobble was grooming my eyebrow a moment ago. Fat jack tried to block my view of the phone and 2 thought the top of my head was a perfectly fine perch.
It was a beautiful weather yet again, so I decided to take them both outside. Dette was a bit of a scaredy cat for most part, but Minke was king of chillin'~ She obviously felt comfy near him though.
