Mallory tries to offer Danielle her best smile, but it falters and she glances away in a cowardly fashion, meekly hugging herself for security, She just knew Danielle would think she was weird too; ...y'know, because she was weird! And internally, she was already catastrophizing how badly this could go for her. Danielle was pretty, and seemed socially competent, and at peace with herself. And while Mallory liked to think she had beautification down pat, that was only skin deep and ... well... why would this girl want someone like her in their life? As Mallory visibly wilted under the weight of her own insecurities, she managed to warble out a "...Hey--Nice to meet you."
