my guess is they try to befriend you and then eventually ask for money, probably with a sad story about something in their life... or... try to get you to click a link that leads somewhere nefarious...

Typically I get one of these:
1. Is this your Steam account? I accidentally reported it
2. I'm an artist who recently lost their job and I want commissions
3. Do you play this game/Did you get my message in game followed with "Oh we're not friends, wanna be friends and play this game?"
4. Sometimes I get some that are a little too NSFW to talk about here, but not that often.

It’s a weird world

I used to have a Discord Account, but because I was a dumb kid at the time; I fell for a scam bot that got one of my friends, so I had to delete my entire Discord account. That taught me to be aware of scammers no matter what social media I was in.

I think some of them are creators/bots belonging to creators of games on Google Play and will ask you to play an indie game that costs money for items. ^^" But that's just atheory, there could be bitcoin mining or sketchy downloads or who knows what. Or just people wanting followers to become an influencer! Follows are powerful these days.

The LEAST NSFW thing I've been DM'd on Discord was "Wanna be my slave?" but that's still NSFW.

Most of the time those NSFW ones want money too haha. Oh well, people are weird, and in the words of my lord and savior Indy Niedell, "People suck."
