Muttering quietly to herself, Clarissa ran through what sort of weapon she thought was best for the time being, seeing as her time was limited. Typically she spent hours on a new project, but no, the Covenant just had to interrupt her study of their own weaponry.

The covenant forces kept dropping into the stations swarming the marines left on the station, soon the covenant had 3 times the units on one station then the marines started out with. While outside of the station covenant battle cruisers were de-cloaking and joining the fight taking on the frigates and marathons using their plasma weaponry to the advantage.
Shipmaster:"Plant the bombs and move out, I want their defences down!" The Shipmaster had exclaimed in rage
while in the mean time the phantoms moved in and were dropping off Elite Rangers outside of the stations along with a single bomb for each station and they started a timer on the bomb for 2 minutes giving them enough time to move all the troops out and away at a safe distance

"No Captain, I haven't gotten a team together quite yet I just got to my Warthog. I was wondering if you had alerted the civilian populace of Reach yet." Dante nodded to Briggs, his side of the conversation able to be heard. "I was also wondering if I could get a list of Spartans and Marines that are on base."

The phantoms watched as the explosives detonated, destroying station after station. Soon half of Reach's stations had fallen, debris falling into the atmosphere of the planet the rest floating as a sign of the first wave.
The Covenant ships recloaked and the phantoms withdrew without a sign of another attack, most likely they were planning a new phase.
Shipmaster:"Well done my troops, you however made one small mistake"
Elite:"What might that be Shipmaster?"
Shipmaster:"You let the humans escape!" The Shipmaster was in a powerful rage "Thousands of them launched, but only hundreds of them made it to the planet, They had survivors" The Shipmaster approached the Elite and grabbed his throat.
Shipmaster:"I want no more mistakes next time, or I will have your hide on my mantle"
The Elite nodded and the Shipmaster let him go, soon after the Elite walked out of the room and all the ships were ordered to remain cloaked

It took a while, but eventually Specialist Lee emerged from her workshop, a mangled carbine hanging from her back and three different plasma swords hanging off her waist. A new addition to her typical arsenal hung in a canister attached to the carbine; several plasma cores harvested from half-functioning needlers. She knew that these cores hadn't been properly tested, as had many of her other garbled creations, but what's better than an actual run through in the field?
Putting on her helmet, Lee ran through a mental checklist before she left. "Carbine... Check. Stripped grenades... Check. Spare explosive cores... Ch-"
"You're seriously going to a full-on Covenant attack with several highly-explosive and untested weapons...? Bloody hell... You have got to be the thickest Marine I've ever heard of and you're going to get us both killed." A clearly disappointed voice grumbled from within her amber helmet. 'Marshall', as he called himself, was her AI that not only rambled on from within her helmet, but also had a terminal within the workshop. Marshall was installed a month ago, having been a requirement for her to have permission to work unguarded. A conscience of sorts. The bastard was annoying as hell and just ticked the young spartan off.

As the captain sent a list to the asking spartan, the escape pods came crashing down. The wailing sirens were drowned out by the crashing of debris and pods colliding with the ground. "What the heck!?" exclaimed Briggs as everything shook.
"ESCAPE PODS LANDING." Called a voice over the speaker.
One such pod was damaged and thrown off course when escaping. It cam crashing into the base and left a hole through it. Where it landed was right next to Specialist Lee and the marine she had encountered earlier. The concrete fractured around the holes and a part fell. The marine leaped aside but his leg was caught in falling rubble, pinning it. The dust settled but there was a teetering piece of cement right over the trapped marine.
"Spartan!" He called, "help me out here!"

Spirits began launching from the covenant carriers and were headed for the surface, letting themselves be detected by early warning systems they had made a very peculiar flight pattern as if they were just a diversion.
The phantoms were headed off to another direction, going after a few outposts held by insurrectionists, diving through Reach's atmosphere they had begun the incursion against the rebels and attempted to capture the outpost

Dante received the list, pulling it up on his HUD. He started a radio chat with Lee, Briggs, Gunsmoke, and 6 other marines and quickly calmed all of the chatter so that he could talk. "This is SGT Dante, I would like for you to all assemble on the first level of the garage. That being an order not a statement make it soon. Be prepared for a firefight," by the time they would get there Dante would have pulled two Mongooses and another Warthog down to the first level making sure they all had full tanks of gas.

Each UNSC marine had a pistol as a secondary weapon, but primary weapons varied. Briggs and Gunsmoke both had assault rifles, so did the earlier trapped marine. One had a sniper rifle, Mark, and one had a rocket launcher. The rest had either battle or assault rifles.
At the outposts the fight had already begun. Marines with rockets and Spartan lasers fired upon the advancing ships as others started up any and all defenses they had, even pelicans and warthogs. The firefight on the surface would be much more fierce than that in space.

Lee rolled her eyes and continued after the marine she freed. As if Marshall wasn't enough, now there was a loud commandingasshole in her helmet. Grumbling under her breath she pulled one of her plasma swords from her belt with a solid click before going into the frey, rather than the garage. No way was she going to get on a warthog with some 'adrenaline-feuled turret monkeys'.
Forgetting that said 'turret monkey' was fully patched in to her comms, the specialist cursed repeatedly using slurs from nearly every major language in the human spectrum. Of course, true to her title, she threw a couple slurs from a covenant dialect she'd found a recording of a few years ago.

Once he had given his orders the radio line was killed. Dante did a head count, and noticing Lee wasn't there opened another comms line between them, "SPC Lee where are you?" He would get Briggs to go and retrieve another warthog.
"There is no way I'm getting onto one of those things. I'm gonna get something better than those damn pig-trucks."
"Very well, where do you plan on going?" Dante understood that some people worked better alone but it was still good to know where people are.
