Liothryth Terandes (played by Mirafin)

In the middle of the bustling streets of Pendel, a lone figure stood gazing around her. It had been centuries since Liothryth had been to Pendel, and in that time it had gone from a small, muddy village to a fairly large city full if people.

Dressed in the layered, dull colored robes of the monastery where she had spent so many years, she stood out from those around her who seemed to be dressed to show off their wealth. She had a small traveler's pack on her back, along with a wooden staff that was a few inches taller that she was.

A passerby bumped into her just hard enough to knock Liothryth's hood from her head. It revealed that she was an elf, and slightly past her prime. Her hair was pulled back into a demure knot, low on the back of her head. More interesting were the scars on her face. It almost looked as though she had been struck by some kind of magical lightening. Reaching up with a hand that was similarly scarred, she pulled her hood back up.

Nodding almost imperceptibly and squaring her shoulders, she starting walking toward a nearby tavern.

[OOC: Feel free to join in anywhere, in any way. Like I said, I really don't have any big ideas for this, so we can all come up with the plot together. If you need me to act like I know something already, I'm game, just let me know what it is either OOC here or in a private message.]
Gabriel (played by Decap)

"Oh, excuse me, miss. I did not see you there. I must have been too lost in thought." The creature talking could best be described as a snail man. He focuses his eye stalks on the woman that he bumped into. He then raises his hand that isn't carrying his wooden staff for a handshake. His hand is odd. It is basically a mitten that is attached to his body.

"I'm truly sorry about that. My name is Gabriel by the way. So, what brings you to these parts?" Gabriel asks.

Liothryth turns slightly to face Gabriel and, seeing his hand held out, offers her own. Along with the handshake she offers a slight bow (very old habits are hard to break), and a slight smile.

"There is no need to apologise, good sir. I too was lost in thought and paid too little heed to my surroundings." A larger smile proves her words.

"I am Liothryth, and to answer your question, I am seeking to see the world. It has been a long time since I last explored it and I wish to know how it has changed." Her words and speach patterns seem a bit archaic, but not stiff or unfriendly.
Gabriel (played by Decap)

"Oh! A fellow wanderer I see. Excellent. I'm actually wandering the land as well. I'm seeking to learn as much as I can about magic, and about myself." Gabriel says as he rubs the back of his head in embarrassment about his last statement.

"Since we are both wandering, how about we wander together? Two heads thinking about how to move about unfamiliar lands is definitely better than one, don't you think?" Gabriel says with a smile as his eye stalks raise a little higher.

"An excellent suggestion. And as I have some small skill in magic I may be of some help in your search for knowledge."

She motions towards the nearby tavern. "I was about to find some food in this tavern. Would you care to join me?" She pauses for a moment, looking thoughtful. "Would they have anything of interest to you?"

[OOC: Quick question Decap, is Gabriel the only one of his kind or are giant snails common? Or might she have seen one years ago because they are rare, but not unheard of? It's a really interesting character race, and I'm just curious where you're interested in going with it.]
Gabriel (played by Decap)

"Wonderful! I look forward to travelling with you." Gabriel says as he closes his eyes and smiles.

"And yes, I would like to join you for the tavern. I haven't had food for quite awhile now, haha. I just hope they have good plants that do not have any salt!" Gabriel says with a shudder. Gabriel then moves to go into the tavern, leaving a small trail of slime in his path.

[OOC: Well, all I know is that Gabriel has never seen another one of his kind before. So, I guess they could be rare or he could be a one of a kind. I'll leave that decision up to you. I'm fine with either one.]
Lyza (played by flatchest)

"Pahaaa!~ Another one!" A certain short, blonde woman demanded, her tankard hitting the table. Several more shook, a volume of generous tankards easily exceeding eight or nine, yet this stout woman still seemed to have her bearings.
Everything about her suggested being a dwarf. She seemed to stand around four feet. At most, she was 4'3. Her face was cute and round, almost possessing a childlike quality. Big, almost glowing blue eyes sparkled with the thrill of the night. Her body was stout, but certainly possessing strength, with slim but toned arms, a nice, slender, almost loli body, and stout, strong legs.
Her hair was long, unconventionally so. Reaching to about her knees, it was a golden waterfall, cascading down her back and over her shoulders, curling at the ends.
If her physique didn't suggest that of a dwarf, her wear would most definitely have to. A sturdy mining hat was on her head, a crystal lens placed at the front as a light. A large, white feather sprouted from one side.
Her top was a brown button down shirt. Thick, and sturdy, but still promoting a quality of being light and comfortable. Over this was a red coat, long, reaching to her trousers, ideal for surviving in colder weather without being uncomfortable in far hotter temperatures.
Her trousers were puffy, red bottoms, open and almost baggy in a way that wouldn't restrict movement. She wore boots and gloves, both brown, intended for long hikes and dangerous climbs, respectively.
If one wasn't sold on her dwarvishness, she had a giant pickaxe to her side, about as long as she was tall, with a headspan almost as long as her arms. This head, however, was folded against the body for portability. It had a wild design up the body, looking to be augmented for combat purposes, with a trigger close to the handle suggesting a mysterious, hidden function. It had an outer casing that was an oxidized green, the rest being a sort of dark grey.

"Another, please!" She requested, much to the distress of the bartender. She would drink him out of business, and no doubt didn't have the money for this amount of drinks... What's worse, a drunk dwarf most certainly isn't the easiest to console out of her drink...

Pausing a moment to allow her eyes to adjust to the dimmer light inside the tavern, Liothryth heard the call for another drink. There is something timeless about a tavern, she thought to herself.

Scanning the room, she saw that there were no free tables, but that there was some room at the end of the one the dwarf was sitting at. There's something timeless about drunken dwarves as well.

She turned to Gabriel. "Shall we see if the dwarf is willing to share her table with us?"

Gabriel (played by Decap)

Gabriel closes his eyes and retracts his eye stalks as he enters the tavern.

"Mmm... too bright outside... everything's all green..." Gabriel mumbles to himself as he rubs the sides of his head with his mitten like hands.

After a moment Gabriel opens his eyes as he regains his vision.

"Hmm? What was that? Sit with dwarf? Yes, I think that's a good idea. The more the merrier!" Gabriel says with a nod. Gabriel then moves to sit down at the dwarf's table, leaving a small slime trail in his wake.

Liothryth placed a hand on his...arm? "Hold a moment, Gabriel. Let's first ask before we simply sit. Perhaps she wishes to be alone." She smiled so that he would know no rebuke was intended.

Walking to the table she addressed Lyza. "Pardon me, but may my companion and I share your table?" She indicated Gabriel with a small motion. "I would be happy to pay for your next round in return."
Lyza (played by flatchest)

The short woman's eyes slowly turned to address these strangers. Her face had shifted from a pleasant smile to a tired, annoyed look at the sudden lack of ale. She was hunched now, her grip tightening on the empty mug as if she were about to start something drastic. Then, a new mug was dropped her way. Eyes widened, she dropped the empty mug in favor of the new one, and her aggression ceased. "Yeah, of course!"
After short introductions were passed, Lyza was happily tilting back in forth on her stool, pleasantly buzzed after her tenth. Then her eleventh, twelfth... "Sho," Her talking became expectantly slurrier. "Wash'a coupla people like you--" Lyza's eyes went wide. Her back arched in her urgency, fingers clenching the tabletop. She almost fell sideways, head turning, and she spilled her drinks. Slowly, the dwarf rose, eyes half open, wiping her mouth. "What... are nice adventuras doin' in this spillhouse?"
Gabriel (played by Decap)

Now that he has permission, Gabriel sits down in an empty chair at the table. Though Gabriel's version of sitting in a chair is more of a bad mimicry of actual sitting. Gabriel takes a few moments getting his body onto the lap of the chair. he then does what can best be described as 'deflating' into the seat. he does this so that his height decreases so that he doesn't just 'stand' on the chair.

"Well, I'm on a quest for knowledge. I'll let my companion speak for herself." Gabriel answers as he looks at the dwarf.

"I must ask," Gabriel says as focuses his eye stalks at the dwarf "why do drink yourself into such a state? If you don't mind me asking. I just can not fathom the benefits of such an endeavor." Gabriel says with a look of worry.

The serving girls here were quick, and had brought over ale almost before Liothryth was finished sitting down. "I'll take whatever you have from the kitchen as well. And of course whatever my companions require." She drank deeply of her ale. "Not bad..."

"I simply seek to see how the world has and hasn't changed since I last saw it. And also to help this young one learn something of magic."

She drank deeply again and motioned for two more. "As for this place," she shrugged. "It's not so bad. I've certainly seen worse places."

When the serving girl brought the drinks, Liothryth took them both then handed one to the dwarf. The simple gold bands that she wore on each middle finger, her only visible adornments, seemed to flash slightly on the dim light as she did so. It was sublte, so only if one was paying attention would they notice it.

Let's see if we can't get our new friend to sober up a bit. She thought to herself.
Logan Wolven (played by Bryce)

As the trio spoke, the doors opened and a new patron entered. He was tall, to say the least, and was a mountain of muscle, and his gray hairs suggested he was in his later years, though it didn’t slow him down.

He removed a large sword from his back, setting it aside at the doorway as he approached a lone table, running a hand over his short beard. He took a seat at said table, not far from the trio. He ordered a beer, and waited patiently.

Due to the large scar over his left eye, rendering said orb blind, he couldn’t see the group, but he could hear what they were saying, and from what he was picking up? They were travelers.

(I apologize this character’s biography is mostly modern, I typically adapt him for modern and medieval fantasy)
Lyza (played by flatchest)

Lyza first appraises the slug. A creature reminsicient of things she fought all the time. Or, at least, drove from mines. Although, those weren't sentient, talking, learning beings as much as they were formless, lovecraftian beings. Nevertheless...Lyza really doesn't know what a snail is. "Well,...I-i dunno." She seemed to be contemplating his question rather seriously, placing her cup down, leaning back a little, her silver eyes (thatweretotallysilverthewholetimeshhhh) closing to consider this. "S'pose I never really thought about it... Just sort of what we do."

Then was this elf and her speaking. She was grateful of this gesture; Someone handing a dwarf a beer in her parts was a friend. Taking her mug in the midst of plunging deeper into her stupor was the only thing she could have done. At this point she wasn't exactly mentally articulate enough to respond to the woman's information in any meaningful way. "Learning magic sounds exciting." Was all she could really process as a response.
