Are you not ENTERTAINED?

Posted by Kim on April 28, 2014, 12:56pm

feedback.jpgGood afternoon, citizens! Are you enjoying your hard-won Epicness?

This year's Epic anniversary celebration was a big departure from our normal Epic Weeks -- in the past, I've simply served up a handful of new templates or features every day for a week, then collapsed in a tired puddle. This year, we turned our anniversary from a spectator sport into a community-wide game.

We've never done anything at all like it before, and it was quite the learning experience for me. But I'd like to learn even more! Aside from the occasional bug-related hiccups, how do you feel the event went? What was your favorite part? What would have improved it?

I'm also curious to know -- if resources and practicality and reality-based concerns were not a factor, what do you imagine the perfect Epic Week being like? Next year is our FIFTH ANNIVERSARY (OMG!!1), and I want to make it an event we'll all be telling our grandchildren about, so feel free to hit me with wild brainstorms.

I loved it! But then, anything that vaguely hints of a trivia contest or mystery or ARG is something that I'll adore, and since it had all of those elements...

I appreciated how the 'random event' hints changed according to what we were trying to accomplish or having trouble with. I liked that we had to work together to get the hints to the passwords, and how no one person could solve everything on their own. That it was so interactive was awesome, and the prizes were fun, too!

...and also the second portal lurking behind the first was kind of a stroke of evil genius. :P

Even with me not participating to much due to work, I was completely entertained watching the antics and the fun everyone was having :)

I sure did enjoy myself. This is always the most exciting time of the year, and this time it was extra special thanks to the whole riddly-diddly going on. Seeing the community work together like that is just awesome and it proves how close we are!

Was rather fun, some of the riddles made a bit less sense than you'd expect but they also made it a bigger challenge.

I LOVE the portals, great teamwork for the community! More events like this are definitely welcome.

I absolutely loved the portal games. You should make us work for new toys more often. :D

It'd be cool to have an IC section to the events next year wherein participants could get some cool bling for their character(s)' profiles. :D

Or even some pixel cupcakes to pop into the trophy case on everyone's profiles or something would be pretty hecka too. <3

.... uuuh.... What did I miss?? x.x

Judging from the descriptions, I missed some pretty awesome stuff. Why does Epic week have to be in exam season? T.T

I only joined RPR halfway through the event, so I didn't get to see a lot of it while understanding what it was all about. As far as I've seen, a lot of people seem to have had fun with it and people worked together towards making this a pleasant event.

I absolutely ADORED the event! If I wasn't so busy (and distracted) I would have tried participating a bit more but ugh, such is life! ;w;

It's impressive how the portal game just sort of took off and had a whole group of people working together to try and uncover the hints and solve the riddles. xD Even though I didn't put in much I still found myself reading the thread when I could to get up to date!

As for next years celebration well...I have no suggestions (yet) but I'm sure it's going to blow this year out of the water. 8)

I'm looking forward to seeing next year's celebration! c: Here's to another great year on RPR! ♥

I thought it was TRULY fantastic. At first I was worried that we wouldn't be able to solve it and that you'd have to give us a BUNCH more hints and it would be kinda awkward... but wow, the community really knows their stuff. ;) I LOVED that you had to get a bunch of different people to see the different hints. They were really varied criteria too, which made it nonrepetitive.

Some of the guardians were a little hard to find. I was ONLY getting one clue ("Sometimes the shape of the seal...") and at that point it wasn't helping much. X) But people did find them, so maybe that's just me.

As for next year... well, I have some ideas, and I'll PM you.

I thought it was great! I felt rather useless in terms of coming up with the answer for any of the portal symbols, but it still felt good to know I was at least helping to gather clues. :)

Unfortunately, I have no ideas for how you might top it next year. ^^;

Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming! :D

And yes, the 1 at the end of the OMG!!1 was quite intentional. ;)

I really love the progress we make every year. Epic week is a nice representation of how RPR evolves. This year was definitely entertaining. I didn't actively participate, but lurking is almost as fun.

If reality wouldn't be an issue, it'd be really nice to have physical events. A mini convention or something, so we can shake hands and pat backs and have sassy talks with the server if he finds time to come over and do a panel.
On a more realistic note, an even bigger variety of games/events would be nice. I'm a bit short on examples right now, but I'm sure the rest of the community will fill in the blanks.

I have to say, I was surprised that I got epicness (seeing as I probably never will use it. Thanks anyways!) as a whole. Just a suggestion, though, if you DO give that out again, you could give it as a little "gift box". In other words, it gets sent to their account, and the person gets the option of gifting it or keeping it.

I thought it was a lot of fun for the site. I was actually really hoping there would be a third portal, because the portal within a portal thing was awesome and it let a new genre be used so that people who didn't know much about one genre could help because they knew more about the other.

Ideas for another... hmm... I'm still relatively new to the site so I have no idea right now. XD

(Also, I don't know if it was intentional, but you put a 1 at the end of your "OMG!!")

The whole teamwork thing is what kept me reading the forum c: we should do this more often.

I thought it was very exciting and I still do. I'm very eager for the Official Art contest!

By the way I do think that that '1' was supposed to be a '!'.

I really liked the video in my grab bag. I didn't participate in the event, but I saw that people were really having fun!

I'm very much looking forward to the cooking contest, too! I have a whole day of cooking planned.
