Okay, so today kind of sucked. Really sucked.I got a notice last night that the Server was going to be treated to a two-phase gratis (but non-optional) update, which included all kinds of super cool upgrades I was pretty happy to get. The first phase was supposed to be quick and involve no downtime, whilst the second phase might have some "short downtime" that would be as minimal as possible. Since they were starting at the beginning of Thursday evening, I figured that would mean a little bit of outtages around 2am Friday. Seemed like something we could cope with.
But wait! The actual second phase outtages started at 8am on Friday, and continued until 8pm. 12 freaking hours!
Support said "It took longer than expected," and never seemed to know how long it was going to continue to take.
So, okay, it's behind us now, and the Server really is running nice and zippy with its EVEN BIGGER brain. But wow, did that process suck.
We've been offered free hosting for the rest of the month to make up for those 12 hours of inconvenience, and I'm extending all Epic Member benefits for 480 hours as my own way of saying sorry.
This particular host has been really, really good to us for some years now. At present, I'm chalking the incident up to everyone having a bad day now and again, but I'm now on my guard for future misbehaviors.

Good thing I was working all of yesterday, but that stinks for those of you with free time!

In the end nothing horrible happened and server is one step closer to achieving singularity, so all is right in the world 
Haaa Cacophony, I did the same thing. 
When I checked in this morning, my first thought was "I'm free! I'll do something else today! I'll be productive!" and pressed the refresh button for an hour before I gave up because I was forced to so I could do the school work I needed to do.
Good to see the site back up and running! Admittedly... got a little worried after the 7th hour, but I was working all day so I wasn't fretting as much as I wanted. :c
