Hey everyone! I just noticed my pretty character profiles are all messed up! I have always used Photobucket to upload images and use their link to embed them into character profiles. I just looked and they're all gone and photobucket wants me to pay 400$ to host them on 3rd party websites. Uh no lol. I don't really want to upload all of them to my deviant art (I take a lot of the images and crop them and delete their backgrounds to make them interact with my profiles) What reliable websites do you guys use? I have been using photobucket since 2005 i think so I am kinda blind sided and angry that I have to redo all my profiles

Imgur.com is top quality. You can upload images without an account but I recommend you make one so you can find your own images again.

I tend to just use my DA http://sta.sh/ . Nobody, but you can access it, unless you link them to a specific map/file, neither will people get any updates when you upload something and it's really easy to organise things in bundles.

I double what Sasheth said. I suggest you bundle together the art for each character profile in your stash, to make things organized.

Just wanted to chime in, folders are a thing on Imgur too. An added benefit of Imgur uploads is that Imgur compresses them to smaller file sizes without affecting quality. It can really benefit people who view your characters on slower connections, if that's something you want to keep in mind.

Thanks everyone! I ended up using Imgur. This whole ordeal has been incredibly frustrating and I only fixed my active characters. I am far too frustrated to try and fix ALL of my characters pages

Wow, that sounds like a huge hassle!

So just encountered this issue today! Was discussing this with somone and they mentioned that they couldn't recover their images. The website wouldn't let them download the images to their computer, but we found a solution.

So just in case anyone else is having this issue I wanted to share how we managed to get around that; the app. I'm still able to download images and whole folders to my mobile - space consuming yes but if those image are important this is a life saver. I recovered some family photos I had stashed in there

A problem that can come from Imgur from my own personal experience is that it just devours image quality when they reach a certain size. I once used it to upload a high-resolution copy of something I did, and the quality took a serious nose dive.
What I usually end up doing is using websites like st.ash from deviantart, or if you have a tumblr, using their posting system but just making the image private. For me, at least, I've been able to open the images that I made private into a new tab, copy the link, and use that without the link breaking, even after I deleted the original private post.

Uh, yeah. So, basically TL;DR this whole thing. Going to state right now - stop using Photobucket. I've been telling people this for years now. Stop using it. It's trash. When people post that they are selling alts with designs or art, and they link to photobucket...I don't even bother. I pass them up. Over the next few weeks, I'm actually integrating all images I have saved over at Photobucket to my Imgur account. I've had photobucket since 2004. I used to swear by it. For many years not it's just been garbage, and went from bad..to worse. There were times in the past that I couldn't even access the site because of all the garbage ad's, just froze my poor machine. But yeah. It's a thing with them, because they think they are smart. As I'm sure others have suggested, use Imgur. Until it goes down the drain....(I used to use tinypic too, then it went to hell. Go figure)
