Lumiose City
Lumiose City is a large city nestled in the north-central part of the Kalos region. It is a prominent central hub of the region and is the most populous city in the Pokémon world.
Tourism is a major industry of the city due to its famous landmarks, such as the Prism Tower, which serves as the city's symbol, and the Lumiose Museum. A wide variety of shops, cafés, and restaurants are spread throughout the entire city and are popular with both tourists and locals alike.
The outer portion of the city is lined by tall office buildings and wide brick and cobblestone boulevards, while the avenues of the inner portion are lined by smaller Parisian-style buildings. The wide roadways throughout the city afford safe and easy passage for both automobile and Gogoat traffic. A large canal also runs diagonally through the city.

A pokemon trainer walked into the pokemon center in lumiose city after she was dropped off. She stretched and fixed her ponytail as her shinx jumped and ran around the pokemon center. She checked her bag before going to sit down and look at her map. “Now then….” She sighed and the shinx ran and jumped into her lap to see what she was looking at. “What do you want to do Leo? It’s a beautiful morning. Would you like to walk around?” She asked as she stood up once more. “I don’t think I could stay sitting.” She says happily and Leo ran towards the pokemon center doors. “Hey wait for me!” She ran after him then walked outside to explore.
Emmaline happily chatted away with her shinx. "Isn't this exciting Leo?" She asked him and her shinx, Leo, responded in pokespeak and she nodded. "Yep, you could run ahead of me a little if you would like. just don't go too far." She says happily and watched Leo run ahead about two feet. The shinx practiced his pouncing and running around. Emmaline kept a careful watch on him as she occasionally looked around at the different shops in the city.
Emmaline happily chatted away with her shinx. "Isn't this exciting Leo?" She asked him and her shinx, Leo, responded in pokespeak and she nodded. "Yep, you could run ahead of me a little if you would like. just don't go too far." She says happily and watched Leo run ahead about two feet. The shinx practiced his pouncing and running around. Emmaline kept a careful watch on him as she occasionally looked around at the different shops in the city.
Sevio was watching calmly from Bleu Plaza as his Pokémon got some exercise. He had to let them out to stretch a bit after being confined to their Pokéballs for so long. The thing that would be drawing attention though was two of his primary team members, Gallade and Bisharp, going at it with a well hard spar. The two were smiling confidently as they clashed their attacks, neither one really trying to deal damage, but the spectacle looked like something out of a Pokémon Showcase as their moves clashed and made sparks, but never connected with each other enough to deal damage. Bisharp would use Metal Claw, which Gallade would counter with Leaf Blade, then both of them would take a firm swing with a follow up of Night Slash. Slowly a crowd would be gathering to watch the event, and this even drew the attention of the nearby Lumiose Press.
4 other powerful Pokémon would be looking on as they stretched and cheered, as well as Sevio looking on proudly at the result of all the special training they had done over the years came to the surface. A key point in the spectacle would be the parts where the two combatants would gain distance from each other and then swing from afar with Psycho Cut, the blades clashing and traveling up into the sky only to detonate like fireworks again and again. Neither Gallade nor Bisharp seemed to be getting tired, but then again neither was going all out either. All around it seemed to be just a fun experience for everyone watching, up until Sevio finally held up a hand and spoke up, "Alright guys, I think that'll do for a stretch! Great form, both of you!" he calls out to get them to stop. Gallade and Bisharp would stay their moves and walk up to each other, giving a Bro-bump of their blades as though to say to each other Good match. The two appeared to be well trained to have such control of their moves and such loyalty to their trainer to stop when he said so.
Needless to say Lumiose Press was getting some really good footage from the event, even as Sevio called them down it was good stuff for the camera, and the courtesy touch at the end was a great example of how even Pokémon that viewed each other as fierce rivals could show respect to one another and prove to be good friends in spite of vast differences. Pokémon and Trainers really were spectacular beings.

"Such great Pokémon would be excellent additions to our team," one of the admins said to their partner. She nodded.
"But I doubt he'd give them up easily..." she replied, watching his Pokémon in their showcase. They were spectacular, that's for sure... He even attracted press. The Admins paid no mind to them, though. Well, not too much, though they took care to hide their watches and earrings, both of which had sun motifs. It would be bad news to have them spotted by anyone, considering what had happened to any other organization that tried to cause trouble. As Emmaline and her shinx, Leo, walked around, they came near Bleu Plaza, just as someone was finishing up a training match. She looked around at the crowd and saw it had even attracted the press. Emmaline was curious who was the trainer buuuut they seemed a little busy right now. Instead she turned to go when she noticed Leo wasn't by her side. "Leo?" she called for him worriedly. He could get lost in such a crowd.
A little Shinx had escaped the view of his trainer and had successfully squirmed to the front of the crowd. As he saw the two pokemon finish up, he made excited noises and he couldn't wait anymore. He happily ran to the pokemon and around them, wanting to play or battle he didn't care which really. All the little Shinx could think about was that these two pokemon were really cool! Although he would look guilty if the trainer of these two pokemon approached him. He already knew he did bad by running off from his trainer and interrupt the two pokemon interacting after their pokemon battle. If the trainer of the Gallade and Bisharp approached him, he would sit down and proudly show him or her, his collar that Emmaline gave him as a present. The collar had a simple tag that had his name on the front side and his trainers name on the back side.

An eye in the sky had witnessed the whole thing. As Emmaline would start to look around for the Shinx that had left her side, she would find another Pokémon calling up to her. A powerful looking Male Talonflame coming to land and ambling calmly up to her. As if understanding that she was worried, Talonflame would move its head in such a way as to gesture her to follow him. If she did, Talonflame would lead Emmaline to another Pokémon, a masculine looking Chesnaught, and after a brief conversation in Pokéspeak, the Chesnaught would move to gesture Emmaline onto its shoulder. Should she accept this offer, she'd find herself hoisted to a much higher vantage point, and catching sight of her Shinx up near Sevio, Gallade, and Bisharp. Chesnaught would also carefully start to move through the crowd, vocalizing calmly to ask people to move and an occasional gentle touch here and there to get some peoples attention and ask them to make way. Chesnaught would carry Emmaline closer to the front of the crowd, where Talonflame would already be and apparently informing the focus of the group of the situation.
Sevio would hear the calls of a small Pokémon, as would Gallade and Bisharp. Their attention quickly turning to the little Pokémon out of surprise. Sevio would smile and chuckle happily at the enthusiasm the little Shinx had at acquiring the attention of the three and moved to kneel down to the small Pokémon in order to get a better look at its collar. Gallade would smile brightly, "Gall Gallade Gall Gall." Gallade would vocalize in Pokéspeak. "Sharp, Bisharp Bisharp." came Bisharps reply as it put his hands on his hips, closed his eyes and turned up his nose, but opened one eye with a smirk, "Sharp... Bisharp sharp sharp." he adds in. It seemed Gallade had said something about the young Pokémon having a lot of spirit, while Bisharp at first said something about the little guy going to get hurt, but then turning around and saying Shinx's heart was in the right place. "Hey little guy. Heh, enjoy the show did ya?" Sevio asks as he kneels and sees the collar, "Hmm? What have we here?..." he says as he moves calmly to look at the tag, "Leo, huh? Well it's nice to meet you, Leo. And apparently..." he adds in as he looks at the back of the tag, "Your trainer's name is Emmaline." he says calmly.
Just then Sevio would hear Talonflame's call and look up to him, "What's up Talonflame?" he says curiously. "Tal Talon flame flame Talonflame." Talonflame would vocalize and gesture with its wing in Chesnaught's direction. Seeming to understand, Sevio would turn to look where Talonflame gestured just in time to see Chesnaught approaching with a girl sitting on his shoulder. Sevio would move to pick up the Shinx if the little guy didn't oppose, and stands up to meet Emmaline properly as Chesnaught brought her safely past the crowd and helps her to step down from his shoulder so she wouldn't trip. "Ah, you must be Emmaline, correct?" he says with a friendly smile, "This is one very enthusiastic Shinx you have here." he says before offering Leo back to Emmaline, rather sure that Emmaline would appreciate being able to hold her little runaway after worrying her like that. "I'm Sevio, by the way. And I'm sure you've already met most of my team." he says as he gestures around to the 4 Pokémon standing around them, while it appeared a strong looking Luxray and Miltank came carefully through the crowd to join them. Thus Emmaline would get to meet all of Sevio's current team.

Emmaline took a minute to register that a Pokemon above her was trying to get her attention. After that minute, she looked up in time to see a Talonflame land near her and she easily understood that the Talonflame wanted her to follow. Without question, she followed the bird Pokemon to a Chesnaught. Emmaline waited for the Pokemon to finish speaking to one another and when the Chesnaught motioned to climb up onto her shoulder, she showed her first sign of hesitance. Deciding to trust the two powerful Pokemon, she didn't object very much. Emmaline easily understood the general feel from the Pokemon and knew that it would be safe. She let herself be hoisted up and when she saw Shinx was finally the moment she understood two things. These two Pokemon belonged to the trainer up front, and Shinx was with him and his two Pokemon that were battling.
Leo, the little Shinx, would follow the other two Pokemon's conversation happily and do realize after a moment he could have gotten hurt. He seemed slightly guilty but when Sevio came up to him and spoke to him, he spoke in pokespeak that he indeed liked the show. He thought Gallade and Bisharp were really awesome. "Shi shinx inx shi shi." He stated and would let the trainer look at his collar. His coat sparked a little with confusion as he was picked up until he saw his trainer. He made noises of happiness and squirmed a little.
Emmaline carefully got down and thanked Chesnaught for the help. After she did so she would go over to the trainer whom of which was holding Shinx. Emmaline nodded that she was indeed who it said on the back of Leo's tag. "Yes, I am Emmaline and thank you, sometimes he can be a little too enthusiastic." She says and gratefully took Shinx from Sevio and held him close to her chest. "It's very nice to meet you Sevio and your Pokemon. I apologize for my Little Leo's interruption." She says sincerely and gave a respectful nod towards each of his Pokemon. "That was a wonderful battle Gallade and Bisharp. I'm sure that's why Leo just couldn't help himself and come meet you two." She says honestly and offered a smile as she put Leo down.
Leo immediately tried to go back to playing with any of the Pokemon that belonged to Sevio. When he spotted the Luxray, he seemed inspired and went over to the Luxray to try to interact with him. He tried playing with him by attempting to jump up on him or trip him.
Emmaline watched him and sighed a little. "I'm sorry for my Pokemon's disruptions.He can be a little way too eager even for a little Pokemon." She says happily and looked back to Sevio. "How long have you been training?" She asked curiously and smiled. She let Leo try to make friends, it couldn't hurt for him to have friends.

Sevio would laugh a little under his breath as Emmaline apologized for Leo, "It's ok, really. He didn't disrupt anything. Gallade and Bisharp love to spar with each other, and most times they can get a little rougher with each other than they were here. But I told them they could stretch a little bit after spending so many hours on the plane. I just set the condition that they weren't allowed to go all out in the middle of the city, so really that show was nothing but a warm up for them." he says in a calm tone. He'd watch the little Shinx scurry about and interact with his team, seeming particularly interested in his Luxray, whom would paw at the Shinx playfully and would jump around and start playing in a friendly way while vocalizing and seeming to laugh as he did. Miltank would also join in, chasing after Leo with her front hooves held forward, smiling as she ambled about and tried making the Shinx feel faster than she was.
Gallade and Bisharp would nod gratefully to Emmaline as she complemented their skills in the show they put on, but as Sevio spoke of that not being their all, Gallade would blush a bit and move to scratch the back of his head, his Galladite coming into view from a sideways scarf around its neck. The scarf draped over Gallade's right shoulder like the cape of a hero, with the mega stone secured to the clasp on his left shoulder. Bisharp didn't have a mega stone, which made him a little jealous but all the more determined to get stronger so he could keep up with Gallade. Bisharp would place his hands on his hips again and puff up his chest proudly, taking pride in doing a good job.
When Emmaline asked just how long Sevio had been training, he'd look up toward the sky for a moment, "Mmm... Good question... I'd say about 15 years or so now. It's been a long time since our journey began, hasn't it, Gallade?" he says as he remembers the past. Gallade would read Sevio's mind and nod in agreement, "Gall." he would vocalize briefly. Looking back to Emmaline, Sevio would become curious now, "We've made a lot of good friends over those years. What about you? How long have you and Leo been traveling together? If you don't mind me asking." he asks curiously.
Talonflame would catch sight of something yellow and shiny leaving the area, apparently an earring on a well dressed woman. The fact that Talonflame's vision was razor sharp should come as no surprise, after all, in the wild it was known for spotting small prey from several hundred feet in the air. That earring would be something Talonflame would remember, even if the situation seemed calm and peaceful now. Noone knew it then, but the chances seemed rather high that the bearers of the emblem on those earrings would be seen again, and likely encountered sometime soon. For now though, Talonflame would turn its attention to Chesnaught and the two would converse about being home again.

A couple of Grunts approached the Admins when they were a reasonable distance away. The Grunts were carrying a few Pokéballs in their hands. It is important to note that the ones on their belts had yellow tops with an "s" on them, but the ones they were carrying were normal red-topped Pokéballs. Yes, they are so dedicated to this whole sun theme that someone at their base paints the top of and puts an "s" sticker on each Pokéball they give out. The Admins revealed their badges, which they both kept on the left inside pockets of their outer coats, then quickly returned them to their hiding places.
"We got some good ones today!" a male Grunt reported, handing over his three red-topped Pokéballs to Vega. "A Snorlax, a Spinda, and a Magikarp."
"And I got a Chikorita and a Skitty!" a female Grunt reported, handing hers to the other Admin, who, by the way, was named Oberon.
"Very good, thank you," Oberon said. "Now, back to battling." Vega and Oberon had to get back to the base to both drop off these Pokéballs and report the battle that had taken place. "But whatever you do, stay away from the man back there," Oberon warned, pointing his thumb over his shoulder. "You'll know which when you see'im."

Leo made happy noises and jumped, rolled and ran around happily. He noticed Miltank being nice by letting him feel faster then she was and urged her to actually chase him, he wanted to get faster by playing around with these two Pokemon. He would try things like trying to jump over Luxray or onto him to wrestle around with him while avoiding Miltank the best he could.
Emmaline giggles at Gallade's and Bisharp's reactions to her and Sevio's comments before looking between Sevio and Gallade as they tried to figure out the answer to her question. When sevio asked her the same question about her and Leo, she blushed. It was now her turn to get all embarrassed. "Uh....I have grown up with Leo since I was six but we only just started to travel together." She says and shyly looks away, watching Leo play for a minute before responding to sevio and gallade's answer. "That is an amazing long time for you guys to be traveling together. I hope Leo and I will travel for that long." She comments and smiles at Sevio, her blush gradually going away.
Emmaline giggles at Gallade's and Bisharp's reactions to her and Sevio's comments before looking between Sevio and Gallade as they tried to figure out the answer to her question. When sevio asked her the same question about her and Leo, she blushed. It was now her turn to get all embarrassed. She says and shyly looks away, watching Leo play for a minute before responding to sevio and gallade's answer. "That is an amazing long time for you guys to be traveling together. I hope Leo and I will travel for that long." She comments and smiles at Sevio, her blush gradually going away.
Sevio nods slowly, "Yeah... I've made a lot of good memories with my Pokémon. And I still plan to make more. I just know we'll get stronger and stronger as we do." he says with a smile. Looking over to Leo, Luxray, and Miltank, he'd see Leo jumping onto Luxray's back and practicing his maneuverability while dodging getting caught by Miltank, whom was really holding back on her speed by running on two hooves rather than curling up and rolling after him. Luxray would be having fun, and would jump up onto his hind legs time and again to try and catch Leo midair, failing purposefully a few times as he didn't want to buck Leo off his back and hurt him. He'd get the timing down once though, and caught the little Shinx between his front paws. Then it was Luxray's turn to roll, as he tumbles his head so that he'd land on the ground with Leo held to his chest, he grip gentle and he seemed to be laughing as he did this, play swatting at Leo just to tease him. Apparently Luxray was acting like Leo had him pinned and he couldn't get him off to get up, and Miltank would be laughing a bit at the sight.
Looking back to Emmaline, Sevio would get an idea, "Have you and Leo been in any battles yet? I'd like to see what you and Leo have got if it's ok. Care for a practice battle against me and Luxray?" he asks calmly. Of course he'd want to use Luxray to battle against Leo, they were the same type, and Luxray was pretty tough, so when it came to showing off a moveset, Luxray could take a few hits just to get a feel for how strong Leo really was. Maybe the old Sinnoh veteran could teach Leo a thing or two and help him get stronger.

I've come to learn that whenever you're just starting out or are new to a region, you can visit the region's local Pokémon lab and pick up a traditional starter from that region. That's how I met Chesnaught over there." he says with a smile. "So, what do you say?"

Leo continued to make noises of happiness and laughter as he pretended to keep Luxray pinned down. He would 'let him up' after a minute and jump around happily. He would wait for luxray to get up again so he could run around underneath his paws while being careful not to get hurt.
Emmaline would get nervous at Sevio wanting to battle. "Well...no not yet. I wouldn't mind doing a battle but Leo is just a shinx while all of your pokemon are fully evolved or way more experienced than us." She said, a little confused why he would want her to enter a battle knowing he had a serious advantage. Then responded to his other statement. "I wouldn't mind getting another pokemon. It sounds fun" She says and smiles over at Chesnaught.

Sevio chuckled a little at Emmaline's reaction to him asking her for a battle, "It's just a practice battle. If I've got as much an advantage as you think I do, I won't have to tell Luxray to use any moves. But I'd like to see how strong your bond is with Leo. If you two have been together since you were young, you should be able to draw on each other's strength, even against overwhelming odds. Heh, if you really think about it in those terms, having me and Luxray be an obstacle for you to overcome would lead to some valuable experience. If you really don't want to though, I wont force you. I would like to show you something me and Luxray learned during our adventures in the Sinnoh region though. If you'd care to watch." he says in a calm and friendly tone.

Emmaline smiles. "Well Leo always loves a challenge. Plus He likes to show off any chance he gets." she says with a knowing smile. "Maybe during the battle you could show us what you learned in your experience." She says happily. She was messing with her bag nervously as she spoke.
Leo made confident noises and looked at luxray as a potential opponent now instead of a playmate before running over to Emmaline and sat next to her. He was ready to battle. Leo was going to put everything he could into this battle. After seeing Gallade and Bisharp battle, he wanted to get stronger and battle them sometime in the future.

Sevio nods happily, "I'll show you what me and Luxray can do regardless if we battle or not. Maybe it'll give you and Leo something to work toward." he says as Luxray walks up to stand beside Sevio. Gallade and Bisharp would speak to each other again, Gallade gesturing to the statue and Bisharp gives a nod. Gallade would bend his knees and give a powerful jump, getting up to the top of a building and taking a seat on the roof to watch far enough out of the way. Bisharp would walk calmly over to the statue and relax with his hands behind his neck, leaning against the statue to take a load off in a cool and collected way. Sevio would give a nod to Emmaline and look to Luxray, "Ready Luxray?" he asks calmly. Luxray would nod happily and take a playful but proud stance while Sevio backed up a bit and smiled to Emmaline, "You guys ready?" he asks politely. Even as the mood in the air turned to that of another battle, there didn't seem to be any kind of pressure this time around, like the battle was just a play date.
In the near future though, the battles would become very real, and Emmaline would start to feel the pressure on her heart that came with becoming a trainer. Sevio was sure that as she traveled and followed her dreams, she'd evolve not only as a trainer, but as a person in general, and he felt honored to be able to be there when she was just taking her first steps into the world. (general spoiler for further down the line. )

Emmaline pets Leo and takes off his collar so it doesn't get damaged and then she takes a few steps back. "We might surprise you Sevio." She says, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "We are ready. Would you like us to go first?" She asked happily as her nervousness went away. She had a secret about Leo but she doesn't know quite yet if she should let Leo show it off just yet. Emmaline was taking this battle a bit seriously because she wanted to hopefully impress the veteran pokemon trainer. She adjusted her ponytail a bit as she slipped Leo's collar into her bag.

Luxray as well would tense his muscles a bit and cause some static to go around him, showing that he was ready to get started.
The press would be all over this one as well, as it seemed a battle of the evolutionary stages was about to commence. Would Leo the Shinx be able to prove his strength to his final evolved form? The crowd seemed to be fired up and was rooting for the little Shinx for being so brave, so Emmaline had a lot of positive support around her.

Emmaline nods and looks down at Leo who cutely tried to mimic the Luxray. She smiled and looked back up to Sevio. "Alright Leo, Lets Start off easy!" She says happily and Leo's tail started swaying back and forth. Emmaline pointed to Luxray. "Leo use Leer!" She says and in the back of her mind she felt silly because Shinx was such a lower level.
Leo however did everything he could To intimidate the Luxray by glaring at him darkly and baring it's teeth. His tail was swaying for seemingly an unknown reason.
Honestly this act that Leo was giving might seem more cute than intimidating to the audience. Shinx was a cute pokemon and the only 'mean' looking teeth it had was it's two front 'canine' teeth.
