Ollie borked with joy and scrambled after the thrown snowball, snapping it up in his jaws. But ooh, it was cold and icey and -- halfway back from fetching, he lay down smack-dab in the middle of the dance floor and settled down to lick the ice ball, tail thumping the floor.
Ollie then got a snowball right to the face. He blinked as the powdery white clung to his golden fur, wagging his tail even harder. He had no idea what this game was but was very certain that it was both a game and very fun.
"That was quit the shot," the shade said, nodding approvingly at Chiara's throw even if it was unintentional.
Even still, she threw more snowballs. The visibility was getting low, but that didn't deter her. She began rapid-firing shots at anything she saw move.

In all places in this universe the Revenant could have wondered to - Not that he has really been "out there" - A fancy masquerade party was the least he expected. Such an irony. The feeling is uncomfortable from the get go, too many smiles, too many good "vibes", as the youngsters like to say, for a place supposed to cover identities and intentions, with none of the participants, himself included, looking normal in whichever measure. Except for the golden retriever amidst the party goers.
Oh well, an opportunity's an opportunity, and he's sure there's at least some networking to be had. He only wish they let him in with his guns, knives, or please at least his gadgets. He had no reason to sneak anything on him, of course, but Revenant feels naked without his grown up toys. The man walks to a corner, incospicuous, despite his offensive silhouette, and simply broods over there, like that weird kid that doesn't like snow fights for some odd reason.

Seeing as her throw seemed to go unpunished, Tairloth took advantage to throw another few snowballs at Moon Drop, hoping to get in as many hits as possible before her participation was noticed and she became a target.
Meanwhile Piemyth looked up from eating at the falling snow and gave a sort of melancholy trill; almost instinctively, they suspected that this meant the party was drawing to a close.

Although often legendarily empty-headed, Ollie seemed to sense that he was being looked at by a new friend! He pushed himself to his feet, shook vigorously to fling snow every which way, and then trotted over to Revenant. He dropped the icey snowball that he'd been licking at Revenant's feet, looking up at him with excited eyes. "Hi! I'm Ollie!" He borked. "I'm a very good dog and this is my ball."
"Look mama, a new target!" Chiara chirped, her keen fox eyes catching sight of Revenant's attempt to go unnoticed. She grabbed a new snowball and tried to throw it in his direction, even if the visbility was diminishing with all the snow flying *and* falling around them. A whirlwind of snow! Maybe it was really that snowflake dance she had read about!
Finally noticing Tairloth due to the throws, Moon Drop returned the favor and threw some balls her way next with a bit of magic flair to ensure that some at least hit their mark.
Malachite let out a sigh, standing there for a moment and enjoying the snow, the overall feeling of the party. he maybe had time for one last snowball..
The man glanced around, deciding to throw it at the mysterious new guy- Revenant.

Unfortunately for Moon Drop, there was one thing that Tairloth's cloak had left unclear; seeing some of them almost homing at her, Tairloth spread her draconic wings and wrapped them in front of her, shielding her from the hits.
"Nice try!" Tairloth said tauntingly, actually happy that she was fighting another magic user, as she prepared a couple more snowballs

Iyan said his farewells to Imp as the lass went in search of her cider. Something about her made Iyan wonder if she'd pick up a few lost trinkets long the way. So many people were distracted by the snowball fighting.
He had to admit, this was something new. Snowball fights in a masquerade. Not unwelcome, it was a bit refreshing to see actual fun being had. The host really knew how to cater to the relaxation of their guests.
Alas, Iyan tilted his head back and drained his flute, turning to set it upon a wandering tray before he turned his back on the festivities. He came. He socialized. He could check the boxes of his social requirements before slinking back to the seedier dens.
Happy winterfest to all.

Slowly, the falling snow intensified until it was difficult to see anything but a white mist in the air. And at some point each participant would blink, and when they opened their eyes, they would find themselves back home, warm in their own bed -- but with a light dusting of snow on their hair. The Winter Masquerade had come to an end, and it would be a whole year before some of these friends could see each other again -- but the memories would last a lifetime.
