Well, howdy! No, I'm not southern at all, but mid-pandemic I started feeling weird saying "Hey guys!" And decided that "Howdy y'all! felt more inclusive, and have never gone back.

Anyways, this is supposed to be an introduction not a word choice analysis. So, you can call me Weedle, as that's typically what folks end up calling me. Pronouns are he/they, and I'm AceAro flux, which means that some days I'm just a CisHet man with extra steps, and other days I'm a forest entity with a longing for stories of dragons and a plate of garlic bread.

I've been roleplaying in some form or another for a good 20 years now. I attended my first LARP event with a character of my own making at the age of 8, and Dungeons and Dragons the year prior. I've been running and playing in games semi-consistently since 2017, both digital and in-person, introducing 40+ people to TTRPG's as a whole.

I've been writing off and on since I as 11, with stints on Fanfiction writing under a few different aliases. Recently started to really dive into improving as of last month, with a goal to finish my first draft by the end of the year.

But with all this time spent roleplaying, making characters, stepping into their shoes, I have RP'd in a text based setting a total of 2-3 times in my entire life. And one of those, I was roleplaying as myself in an alternate reality. So like, I am a complete newbie in this specific field, and am low-key kinda nervous.

I'll probably get a character or two set-up sometime this week, and try to either join or create something. Will definitely be going in with a couple of my repeat NPC's from my games to start with, as they are a comfort zone I can easily slip into until I'm ready to dive in elsewhere.

Don't be too stressed about rping! It's meant to be fun! If you have questions or want pointers, feel free to reach out. RPR also has some pretty good articles on where to start. You've taken the first step, so get out there and pick up a story or two!!

Also, I definitely want to know why you chose weedle. Like are you into bug-types or you think weedle's cute?

That’s quite a lot different writings you have done, so why be nervous about text? Don’t worry, really, I think I said this once already, I haven’t yet met some pedantic nitpicking rigid English teacher around. And above that, here on RPR, well, just take the time needed, think about what and how you write and you’ll be amazed at how fun this can be.

So, my appreciation of Weedle comes twofold from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, one story from Red rescue team, and one from Blue rescue team. Blue was my first, and I was trying to train a Weedle up to evolve them into a Beedrill, since I thought Beedrill was cool. I took them to a late game dungeon, and was passing through a room with Kecleon. My Weedle decided to just up and attack the Kecleon. That must have been like, 60 levels higher than it minimum. I wiped, of course. But I went, "Man, Weedle has GUTS!" Later, after I had lost Blue, and was playing through Red, I got stuck on Zapdos for a long time. The first time I beat Zapdos in that run, I had happened to recruit a Weedle, and it actually survived the whole fight, so I kept that Weedle on my team whenever possible as a good luck charm.

Over the years, I sometimes pretended to be a Weedle, or a Weedle trainer when playing games with friends, because I went, "He's basically poisonous spider man, between string shot and poison sting."

And then years later, I got onto a Pokemon forum, where you could claim favorites, and of my current favorites, Weedle was one of the only ones left, so I claimed it. People thought it was an intersection choice, so I shared the story, and started to be known as the guy on the site that liked Weedle. So ai eventually gave myself a custom tagline thing of "The Resident Weedle Enthusiast", which eventually led to me replacing my username with "TheWeedleEnthusiast", and now here I am. Weedle might not even be in my top 10 favorite Pokemon anymore, but it became my identity.

Not so much identify as but I would love nothing more than to be a forest entity pursuing dragons (yep you read that right) and all the garlic bread in the world. In fact I just got some garlic cheese sticks from the pizza shop today lol.

I don't know but I am Southern and aside from the y'all some of your way of speaking still screams it... Hmmm. Suspicious

But I'll take your word for it. I'll mimic what everyone else's said this is the most inclusive and diverse places I've seen.

Thanks for sharing! I like how you think. Very positive. I would've been upset that the Weedle picked a fight and cause a team wipe By the by, you can make it so your party member stick close/ don't engage in battle unless a wild pokemon walks up on ya. Not very helpful if you don't play it anymore, though!

That's quite the resume, much more impressive than mine. I'm intimidated now lol.

Has anyone called you WeeWee as a joke? Cuz if not, I'm calling dibs! Also is Weedle your fav Pokémon? Mine is Flareon. And if your well versed in DnD, maybe you can teach me the basics one day, I been wanting to try my hand at it for year, but its more intimidating than your roleplay resume! I never know where to start.

I have not had that particular nickname, no. I've had people do the Patrick voice for "Weedle, Weedle, Weee" though.

My top favorite kinda rotates, since how fun a Pokemon is to use in-game or in semi-competitive does influence my rankings. But when I did the ultimate favorite Pokemon ranker thing, I determined that Mightyena is the Pokemon I default back to as my actual favorite when I am not dealing with recency bias. Really been digging Skrelp lately though, after picking it for a Little Cup Draft League.

And my offer for teaching D&D is usually something to this effect: You find me a group of people that want to play a one-shot, and a time or two that works for all of them that I'm available, and I'm down to run something, including a session 0 for character creation.
