Forums » RP Discussion » All animals, zero humans. Unsure

I dont know, I been working behind the scenes on the basic barebones of a roleplay group/idea that Im honestly not sure how the reception of it would be. So this is kind of an interest check and possible discussion on such a topic and idea.

What I been working on is whole world/setting that takes inspo from the Warrior Cats/Watership Down where the main focus are the animals, their struggles in life and so on. But in my planning, there are no humans, No cities, not even a trace of humanity in this semi-fictional world in a semi-realistic roleplay setting. Full of Political Intrigue, Survival Drama, and more.

Well, to sum it up, how much interest would a setting like this gain? Would anyone make a whole new character for such a setting that offers a good challenge due to writing animals interacting with animals?

I know Im just blabbering at the moment and probs don't make much sense, but feel free to ask clarifying questions if your confused bout something.
I remember I got into roleplaying with warrior cats roleplays. I'd love to join an animal-focused RP group!
I know I've seen multiple people express at various points that they wanted a Warrior Cats rp but were having a lot of trouble finding any that were:
  1. Active
  2. Accepting new players
  3. Not toxic, highly restrictive in seemingly arbitrary ways, or otherwise unpleasant to try to participate in

I had got into a warrior cat roleplay in my early years, but the forums shut down shortly. This though, what i have in the works will have more than just cats. Bears, horses, birds, the list goes on.

Ive heard that the warrior cat fandoms is pretty rough, never got that deep into it. My idea for this animal focused group idea, there will be some toxicitiy, but only in character. Least thats the goal if it ever gets past the construction and planning phase.

If you need a prey species, I know of one!!

Lizbeth has a ‘feral’ side. I can even get her on four hooves again, she has a feral history and can be played like an absolute animal (no speech, no ‘human’ reaction like smiling, only deer-like behavior). I had her already as fawn, leaping and running through the forest.

If this fits into your plans 😉

could fit into the plans, but the name might be an issue. For this thing i been working on, Lizbeth would be too human of a name. Naming would take insparation from warrior cats and include nature themed. Like Stormcloud, Blue River, Mud, Sky. Just for a couple examples.

Her second name is "stardust", when she was a fawn, she got a lot more white speckles in her fur and was called little stardust. <G>

I'm not (yet) familiar with Warrior Cats
I do have many existing animal OCs outside of my old warrior cats characters. A lot of chicken characters actually.. at one point I wanted to make a chicken comic lol. I also have a musk ox, a small equine, a duck, and a pigeon. But honestly It’d be really fun to roleplay as an invertebrate. I just know i’d write a good jumping spider.

There’s so many animal character ideas to explore.. I usually just make humanoid designs with animal characteristics to scratch that itch. But writing an animal itself is something I kinda miss ngl.

Also stardust is the cutest name omg

Stardust is adorable sounding and would fit the name theme. But when I get majority of the group set up, I will let you know so you can take a peep if you want.

There are many different animals I want to try my hand at writing, no other platform but here seemed suited for that. I know other places would just make it weird as heck and start sexualizing the animal characters. Not what I want, what I want is to push my limits to things other than humanoid characters.

I can tell you that is so much true and I feel so sorry about that.
Your idea is so interesting. This is also why I did so much research about this doe, trying to guess why a whitetail does this or that. Anatomy of animals is also important, the limits and the abilities. This is why I love to play my other OC, Max. I’ve been working with horses for I-don’t-know-how-many years, with ten years professional, so their behavior, their limits, their weaknesses and strengths have no secrets anymore to me. If you want a good’ol donkey-ish draft horse, there’s Max too. But I’ll have to find a name for him better than “p’tit con” 😁😇

Aww thanks MixPixi, and see, you got that same cuteness into the Aquarelle, I think you understand why I like that pic so much.

Your interest in this idea gives me a renewed hope that it will end up worth the effort I been putting into it so far. The name for the group will be; The Wild Accord and you may be the first one I invite to the group if it gets to that final stage at some point. Thank you!

A dog?
I don't have any characters to fit into this yet, but I would LOVE to make new ones for this setting.
Count me interested :D

Adding your name to a list to message when the group is established enough for public. Thank you!

I have a fae wolf that has been a work in progress for years and I’d love to be able to explore her more. I originally made her as hating humans and realized it might be difficult to get roleplay. I’m kind of wanting to play as a wolf to get back to some of my earliest days of roleplaying, I guess it’s for nostalgia.
