As people began making their way into the lobby, Jaygo greeted most of them. Jaygo was well known in this small community, as the boss favored him. Jaygo watched as some people mingled, mostly partners, and others left to begin their day in crime (not many did much during the day, an occasional shoplift or a casual auto theft.) Jaygo saw Ajax sitting at the base of the stairs.
'Looks like a lost puppy' he snickered to himself. 'Wonder what she's doing today?' He thought.
Suddenly a loud struggle was heard from the top floor. Most people stopped to look, others rushed outside to escape what might be happening. One brave soul decided to go upstairs and check on the boss. After several moments, all went quiet, and the criminal knocked on the door.
"'Ey boss, you ok?".
The door suddenly exploded outwards in a ball of flame. Ash rained on all below, and the brave one was no where to be seen.
The entire building exploded in chaos as everyone rushed to try and escape the inferno.
A voice was heard over the intercom, one that was foreign to Jaygo. "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the boss has unfortunately been run out of business. Please evacuate the building immediately. Or don't. I get paid either way."
Jaygo suddenly looked for Ajax in a panic.

Ajax was about to just insert herself into a random group when she heard the loud struggle from upstairs. She was surprised when people started to flee from the room, taking any exit they could. Cowards.... Ajax glanced up as the other criminal knocked on the door, seemingly braver than the rest of this group. She listened while everyone who was left seemed to lean towards the steps and got quiet, which was oddly eerie.
Ducking as an explosion ripped through the door, Ajax covered her head as ash and pieces of the door rained down on her. Fire was spreading quickly from the bosses room, racing down the steps in no time. She barely noticed the voice over the intercom as the railing above her started to break from the fire, breaking in pieces large enough to skewer her through if she wasn't careful enough. Ajax got down close to the floor, covering her mouth with her shirt. She had been in situations like this before, and knew what to do.
Ajax crawled along the floor towards the spot that she had last seen Jaygo, ignoring the debris raining down on her. She was fine with little cuts and nicks, that was until a large piece of the banister came down and stabbed her through the left shoulder. Although she kept up her tough girl attitude, Ajax couldn't help the scream that ripped through her throat as the piece of wood tore her flesh. It was big enough to go completely through her shoulder and pin her to the floor, rendering her helpless against the fire. Sucking up her pride, Ajax yelled for the only person she had trusted in a long time. "JAYGO!!!!"
