Sorry to everyone I roleplay with. I'm really stressed and constantly tired from work. I need to calm down to be able to work with my muses again...
Here's some relevant questions, and the reason I made this thread to begin with: How do you respond to stress, and what do you do to deal with it? Have you ever had to quit a job or go on sick leave because of it?

Personally, whenever I'm stressed out, I generally turn to music, usually something calm and slow like country or jazz, sometimes I'll play a game where I can take my anger out on NPCs like GTA or Super Smash Bros., or I'll watch some funny stuff on YouTube, if none of those work for me, I'll most likely take a nap. I've certainly lost a few days of school due to stress.
How do you respond to stress?
Used to be I'd respond to it poorly. Still do, actually, because I'm far from a saint. If it's life stress, what I try to do is set aside time for just myself, be it video games, books, or working on a craft project. If it's job stress, I try to focus on what I, myself, can personally do, and I try to remember that I can't control other people, only influence them. if I do the best that I can, and do it well, then I'm ahead of the situation no matter what.
Have you ever had to quit a job or go on sick leave because of it?
No, I haven't. Unfortunately, I'm a little too ornery and self-destructive to do something smart like that. I have had points in my life, however, where my body started breaking down because of stress. Pulled muscles, sprains, bad sleep, sickness, bathroom issues, joint problems. All of those still happen to me occasionally, but I'm usually able to take the time to at least partially de-stress my life enough for my body to heal.
Take time for yourself. Set aside a night to drink some red wine or tea or cherry cola and curl up with a book or a cat or maybe a beloved relative. Spend a few extra minutes making sure that doorknob or cake or shelf of something is absolutely perfect. Do some yoga or take a walk around the block or hit the gym or use your couch to do crunches when you get home.
You got this. We believe in you. You are made of stardust and nuclear radiation. There has never been a you before, and you are awesome.

Hi Cinders, I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling stressed - it's never a pleasant experience!
To answer your questions:
How do you respond to stress?
I become incredibly quiet and reclusive, and I get the urge to stay under my blanket, and never come out. I'm a very conscientious person, and I often don't call in sick due to stress, even though I probably ought to. At my former job, it actually came to a point where I got myself admitted to the hospital, because I couldn't breathe. After that experience, I try to calm myself and listen to what I need, instead of just pushing on.
Have you ever had to quit a job or go on sick leave because of it?
The short answer is yes. After I got myself admitted, I had to go on sick leave from my job. It didn't make me feel any better, because I felt like I was letting them down and because I felt like I wasn't actually sick. I had lied to the doctors at the hospital, when they asked me if I felt stressed, because my parents were there and I didn't want them to know how bad I actually felt, so I had no notice from my doctor to my job. I think my bosses might have known it was bad, because they never asked for any proof that I actually was sick.
Basically, I found another job and quit the one I had. I finished my bachelor's degree + the first semester of my master's, and then took sick leave from university as well. It was probably the smartest thing I ever did, since I would have messed up both my education and my job if I hadn't taken a break.
In the end, I second was JayBird wrote. Take time for yourself. And take sick leave, if you need it. It might sound rough, but at the end of the day, no one will thank you for running yourself to the ground. Most importantly, you won't thank you.
Take care of yourself, Sweden

Thank you for the input, all of you
This situation is kind of new to me, so it means a lot to hear from people who have more experience in this matter. Really.

I lack adequate coping mechanisms and got fired from my last job, before I went on disability, because I was sick all the time from the resulting burnout. I highly recommend reading through the blog posts found here, there is a ton of useful information on how to take proper care of yourself, recognize symptoms and how to manage stress.
