"Okay.."

Max and Drew finish their food quickly and go upstairs.

"Those two... Are they always like that?" She sounded irritated now.

"Eh.. They do stick together. But they forgot to put their dishes in the dishwasher!!" Kate gets up and puts the plates in said appliance. "Also, if we're sick, we're allowed to go back to our rooms as soon as we're done eating," Kate explains. "Same thing if Mom and Dad aren't eating with us."

"So they are sick?" They hadn't felt sick to her. Perhaps she was just too freaked out to think straight and inaccurately judged their temperature. "That's odd..."

"Uh- I mean.. Uhh.."

"... What's wrong? You seem upset."

"Uh.. Nothing.."

"You can tell me..."

"No I can't."

"Why not?"

"I just can't!!" Kate says quickly.

"Kate... I am getting very concerned..." Chiyoko approached Kate slowly and knelt down to her height, considering Kate was sitting down. "Are you alright?"

"Everything's fine." Kate shifts slightly.

"Kate..." Chiyoko's voice was sweet now, and caring. "Please, I'm concerned. You're lying to me."

"No I'm not!! Things are fine!"

"Kate..." This sounded to be the last time she'd be so sweet.

"She can't say anything," Kayla says from where she sat.

"Why not?" She shook her head, reaching for the phone. "This is silly. I'm calling your parents."

"That's okay," Kayla says, finishing her food, putting her plate in the dishwasher, and going upstairs. She goes into the twin's room, after knocking, and watches them play with a Lego set. After a moment, they let her join in.

She dialed the number and put the phone up to her ear, hearing the dial tone. She tapped her fingers on the counter while she waited.
