"Implantable cardioverter defibrilator. It helps whenever my heart has a moment where it skips a beat or two."
"Oh." Xueqing nodded in acknowledgement. "My pacemaker doesn't work all the time either, it helps me whenever I get scared the hell out or have an arrhythmia."

Then, she scratched her head, "Why would you need that though? Almost all people around me don't need this kind of equipment..."
"There's a lot that's wrong with me. Although the issue of powering your pacemaker can be solved with a mini arc-reactor like mine. Got the idea from my dad."
Her failure to cast a simple spell utterly forgotten, Esme’s expression turned to one of absolute giddiness (and perhaps one slightly inappropriate for the subject matter) as she regarded Xueqing. “I’ve always wanted to make an artificial heart! Well, I’ve been working on one, but my son doesn’t want me to install it in my own chest. Still can’t fathom why.” She rolled her good eye. “It’ll take some time—I’ve got some prototypes, but they’re a ways out from being viable. I’ll see what I can do for you.”

"Are the bionic enhancements you offer licensed? The penalty for distribution of bionics that are not ordained by the Cult Mechanicus is…" There was a pause while a dial-up sound could be heard coming from the speaker on the Tech-Priest's power axe. "…severe."
“Licensed?” She squeaks out, with a forced grin on her face. “I… I make them in my basement lab. Never worked on anyone but myself before, if that’s anything. I mean, I’ve offered to work for the Legion as a cyberneticist, believe me, but they said I’m “not a real doctor” and “unstable”, so… gods, I’m not helping my case here.” She thinks to herself, now would be a great time for that beer. And a even better time to possess the ability to run. But the world was cruel and she had neither.

More of what sounds like dial-up noises, but is actually Harkoth vocalizing in binaric as he thinks, can be heard before he speaks again in his modulated voice. "The fact that you have not actively distributed heretek bionics could certainly reduce the severity of the penalties. A thorough investigation of your research facility by the Martian Priesthood will be required. Cooperation does increase your chances of leniency by 42.2222222 percent."
"Oh- uh-" The teenage girl was struck off guard by Esme's crazed enthusiasm. "Um- you... probably should test it on an animal first... Don't try it yourself, you could... accidentally die." She was honestly a bit nervous, but she didn't express it.

"Your son stopped you for a good reason, 'cuz it's not like something that isn't tested before put into use will have a great chance of working right..." She looked aside, "You really should try it on something first. Me? Sure, I can handle the situation when things go wrong, but still."

"And, Cult Mechanicus?" She glanced at MDH937.

"Correct. I am a Magos level Tech-Priest Dominus of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Designation Harkoth-937."

Esme watched intently as Xueqing summoned a bubble that vanished just as quickly as it appeared. “Strange. I wonder if I could make one.” She strained at an attempt to cast a simple bubble. Lightning magic fizzled in her palm and then burnt out entirely. Not even the right element, and no weird numbers appearing, either. “Hm. I never was good with magic.”

He came out drying his hands "what can I do for you?"

“Just a beer, please. I’m not picky—anything dark and hoppy will do.” Esme flashed her lopsided smile at Mathius, before her attention flicked back to her conversation with Mikazuki.

“Oh, don’t I know it. I take it yours are old war injuries, too?” she asked. “Well, if you ever change your mind, you know where to find me. Every prosthetic I make and install is valuable research—another organ or limb I can perfect better than nature ever could.”

He brought her a mug of the in-house brew and set it in front of her. He cast a glance to the tech priest and he perked a brow. "Another technopath?"
"Oh... Hello, Harkoth. I'll just call you that." That's a lot of words I don't recognize- She awkwardly smiled, scratching her head.

After having said all these, the girl realizes something. She shifted her gaze to Theo, "Sorry, I... was absent-minded. You said you also have a lot of problems?"

"Yeah, it's complicated, and I would rather not disclose some of my more sensitive medical information in public."

The boy in purple seemed to have waited for long.
"Hello, uhh... Is cola or alcohol-free cocktail available?"

Lin Xueqing dialogue:
"Sure, respect." The girl nodded. "By the way, nice to chat with ya! Name's Xueqing." She gave a friendly smile.

"An antiquated term. I am partially adept in the Artificia Cybernetica branch of Cybertheurgic Arcana, but it is an ancient and esoteric art. My primary focus is overseeing a battle-congregation of Combat Servitors, Electro-Priests, and Cybernetica Battle Automata."

"I'm Theo Stark. I'm the son of Tony Stark."
"Your father must be a great person."
"Maybe he was. I never met him."
"Makes two of us." How the shirtless Mikazuki is still not effected by having the three wired connections in his back thanks to the Alaya-Vijnana—yes, obviously, he's used to it, but still.
“Thank you,” Esme said, accepting the beer from Mathius. She took a few sips of it. “Oh, this is fantastic. Much better than taking another intoxicant cartridge, I hate to admit it.”

Esme produced her spare key to offer to Harkoth. “Is that all? Go for it. Anything you need, sir.” She paused. Between the modulated voice and a body that was mostly machine, she hoped that sir was accurate here. She made a mental note that if she was ever that heavily augmented, she would want the design to still read as female to onlookers. “You’ve… clearly spent more time in a cybernetics lab than me. That’s some elegant work, there.” It made her a little jealous. The envy might’ve even slipped through her monotone mask a little bit.

She looked a little deflated as she responded to Xueqing. “Gods, you sound just like my son. “What if went wrong and you died?” Yeah, and what if it went right and I never ever died from heart issues?” She sighed. “But I’ll test it first, if you and John both insist. You seem like a smart kid. So’s he. I might just be the crazy one here.”
"You could have me as your subject, frankly. I can deal with the risk." She looked aside.
