My company is just doing donuts in the ocean catching fish and sending a lot of reports about the water being nice.

So what I'm understanding, then, is that combat on each hex is a group effort?

In the sense that the 1% you knocked off that hex does indeed translate for everyone else as well.

But other people also having their companies on that hex won't change the odds for each individual combat

I was just hoping that I could help bring the threat level down a bit so it's more manageable.

Well, I cleared hex (50, 15) of invasive species. Dunno if that lasts, but yeh.
