Eyes of Osyris is a large RP currently in development. This is a smaller RP intended to generate interest and give people a taste of what they might come to expect in the main RP. Anyone who's interested in joining should follow this post for updates as to when the main RP will begin, as well as for easy access to the link once it's up.

Campaign name: Abyss in the Elven Mines

Setting: "Welcome to Vastille Academy, home of the Reapers and your home too for the next several years. For whatever reason you may have come up with you've decided to attend this school to learn magic and combat. Plus there's that extra bonus of never dying to old age, that comes with advanced magics like these. The only requirement is that you must take on jobs listed on the bulletin board in order to pay for your classes. Lucky for you all of your introductory classes are free. After you get your first basic skills, which classes you take are up to you, however, in order to rank up in the academy you must make sure that you can pass the end of the semester ranking exam. The exam is different every year but it always consists of a challenge that tests the students' ability to survive outside the academy. Usually it consists of 3 phases. A survival phase, consisting of all students testing for the same rank, a solo phase in which each student is individually tested, and a group phase where students may decide among themselves their teams. Now, here's the dorm building. Boys are to the left and girls to the right. Lastly any questions regarding living situations or other general information should be directed to the people at the front desk located right at the back of the entrance room. Hard to miss really. Oh, one more final thing, check your pockets and bags for your dorm keys,beginner class schedules and school guides." With that the hooded female that had been leading you and a large group of students, with her back turned to you all the entire way, suddenly disappeared. All of you had certainly had most of this explained to you prior to coming here, but suddenly this was the first time being left alone since arriving at your new home, almost like you weren't even important enough for a simple tour of the campus. What a strange way for your adventure to begin.

Rules
1. Don't mess with the GM(Me). You can make suggestions, I even welcome constructive criticism, but I have the final say in all matters.
2. Any differences between characters that can't be settled by their respective players will be decided by a dice system.
3. Do I even need to mention no god modding? I think most people should probably just understand how that's unreasonable.
4. Please keep the sexual stuff to pms, if any occurs.
5. This is a semi lit RP. 2+ paragraphs preferred.

Playable races

Race name:Human
Homeland: Valnere (Non magic world)
Description: Really? Do I need to actually describe human to you?
More info: Most humans have no magical abilities, however there are some rare exceptions. Most humans with magical power are scouted out and recruited into Vastille academy. Humans with no magical abilities are fairly easy to kill since they have soft flesh and innards with no real way of defending themselves. Humans used to live in the same world as the other races but long ago in the Mundane war they were banished to their own plane of existence. Nowadays humans can be occasionally found throughout the magic world, though the few that are there, are the rare ones with magic abilities.
Relations: None

Race name: Basku
Homeland: Makuul
Description:The Basku are humanoids with feline features, such as cat ears, a cat tail, and long sharp nails that work in a similar way as claws. On some occasions they can have gold, pink, purple, or orange eyes.
More info: The Basku typically have a lithe frame yet remain fairly strong. They also have great night vision and balance. Their fighting styles usually revolve around speed and maneuverability, which makes them a difficult target to hit and an even more difficult opponent to knock down.
Relations: The Basku have waged war with the lycanthrope many times in the past, resulting in tension among the two races.

Race name: Lycanthrope
Homeland: Vahdros
Description: They tend to look similar to humans with slightly pointed ears. They have sharp, jagged, carnivorous teeth that make it easy to bite into flesh and meat. They often have gold eyes and claw-like nails and they tend to have a large build that still gives them maneuverability.
More info: Lycanthropes have the ability to bite someone and turn them into a werewolf. However, unlike vampires, they cannot breed into a full blooded lycanthrope. A Lycanthrope can turn into a beast and back at will and use their power as they want, whereas a werewolf can only call upon some of their beast blood and are forced to turn into their beast form on full moons. Lycanthrope and werewolves also have a weakness to silver. When contact is made it burns their skin and weakens them. Lycanthropes are very fast and they have heightened senses of sight and smell.
Relations: Lycanthropes and the Basku have waged war many times in the past resulting in tension between their races.

Race name: Elves
Homeland: Grelvanoir
Description: Elves look very similar to humans but have pointed ears, varying skin colors and often times angular features.
More info: There are several breeds of elves such as snow elves, wood elves, high elves, dark elves, plains elves, and several other breeds that have branched off into what are considered different races. Elves tend to be nimble and quick and they have a strong alignment towards magic. Elves are also often known for their intelligence and wisdom which they’re highly revered for.
Relations: Elves tend to have a bias against any race or any individual they view as less intelligent than them. This common attitude of theirs has made them a reputation for being egotistical.

Race name: Orcs
Homeland: Kraug
Description: Orcs, like elves, have pointed ears but they have a far larger build and a dark green skin color. They also tend to have two tusk-like teeth and their teeth tend to be yellow due to their lack of hygiene.
More info: Orcs, although technically a breed of elf, their attributes and alignments vary greatly. The largest difference between them and the elves is their strong alignment towards physical based magics. Orcs tend to live in small closed off villages of only twenty or thirty orcs, only leaving to gather food or other supplies, though some of the largest tribes have hundreds of orcs. On the rare occasion a traveler isn’t attacked on sight they’re usually captured as a slave or if they're lucky they may let them in for political reasons.
Relations: Orcs often dislike elves humans and basku because they view them as a weaker species.

Race name: Dwarves
Homeland: Brassingar
Description: Dwarves usually stand no taller than four feet tall yet despite their size they often have incredible strength. Some of them have short stocky builds but many of them can also have small lithe frames as well.
More info: Dwarves often have a knack for working with machinery that allows them to build complex machines. They hate using materials crafted by other races because they believe nothing can beat dwarven metal. dwarves have a strong affinity towards imbuing magic, often making them great smiths.
Relations: Dwarves Believe might and metal are the key to victory. They believe this makes them the strongest race alive, often resulting in narcissism fueled fights with other egotistical races.

Playable half blood races
You can mix any two of the above races together or any one of the above and any one of the below. This comes at the cost of some of each race's power. Balance it out on your own, just make it reasonable. However it should be noted that certain groups view half bloods as tainted and unnatural and will treat them as lesser beings.

Race name: Hagrick
Homeland: Brist
Description: They tend to have strong muscles and the ability to jump higher and farther than most other races. They also have very reptilian features such as scales, and a tale. They have eyes with vertical slits that tend to be yellow or orange.
More info: Hagrick can hold their breath for extended periods of time making them very comfortable in the water. The Hagrick also have a photographic memory which makes them great scribes and scholars. Their scaled skin allows for good defense and their claws and tail allow for good unarmed attacks. They have regenerative abilities that allow them to heal quickly and regrow lost limbs. Despite their strength as a race many of them were wiped out in the Mundane War. They’ve only recently become a strong political power in the world.
Relations: Hagrick have a tendency to make friends with any race possible without committing to them entirely, as not to get roped into anymore wars. Further more the Hagrick have become the top global merchants, using their money for power instead of their numbers.

Race name: Vampires
Homeland: Allamure
Description: Vampires are humanoids with pale skin, pointed ears and commonly have fairly attractive features as long as they aren’t in blood lust. They often have red eyes though some of the more powerful vampire families have purple eyes instead.
More info: Vampires are commonly known for their strength and strong ties to dark magic. When walking in sunlight they become weak or if in blood lust they begin to burn. Blood lust is a state that vampires enter if they do not drink blood for a certain time period. It results in more monstrous features, a lower tolerance to sunlight, and weakened mental restraint, yet it increases their strength and magical power. Most vampire families are very wealthy and control much of the political power where they reside. Vampires also have the ability to turn any creature they bite into a thrall as long as they have a stronger willpower than the creature. Thralls are beings that feel instinctively inclined to listen to the vampire that bit and turned them.Through a ritual a vampire may turn another humanoid into a sub vampire. Sub-vampires have the ability to breed into full blooded vampires by either breeding three generations through all sub-vampires or two generations through a full blooded vampire, although this is often frowned upon in high vampire society since sub-vampires are often seen as filthy and strange. Vampires also have a sort of allergy to garlic that causes them to feel slightly weak and nauseous. Even the scent of garlic is sometimes enough to make them feel the effects.
Relations: Vampires have a heavy bias against any race they view as less intelligent than them.

Race name: Eviere
Homeland: Konalla
Description: The Eviere are humanoids with features resembling a fox. They are often described as elegant due to their fluid movements and near perfect balance.The Eviere can grow up to nine tails but the only way to grow more tails is to become more powerful. The ninth tail is the most difficult to obtain, having only been achieved by a select few in history.
More info: Eviere have a natural inclination to magic and illusionary magic in particular, making them known tricksters. They tend to live in large groups just as humans or elves. In spite of their impressive natural strength their culture and lifestyles tend to promote peace and coexistence, as is the teaching of their religion. Further more, in spite of their devious nature there's almost no political corruption in their country. This is due to them being raised to see through deceit and lies, as well as having anyone wishing to take a political position requiring to be heavily monitored.The best way they could be described is respectful but distrusting.
Relations: The Eviere have no particular enemies or allies.

Magics

There are hundreds of different branches of magic but for now we'll only be focusing on the basics. First it should be known that virtually any magic can be combined with any other as long as you can properly control it all. For example, combining electric magic and physical magic could allow one to apply electric damage to their fists or weapon. Also, each branch of magic grows separately with use, meaning any progress in water magic, will not affect your project in fire magic.

Arcane magic
Arcane magic is pure magic without an element. It can be used in a multitude of ways such as sensing other magics, pure magic (arcane) damage, and communications through telekinesis. Arcane magic is most commonly believed by intellectuals as the most likely source of the first magics. It's believed that this branch of magic is also the most affected by intelligence.

Elemental magics
Magic that uses base elements such as fire, ice, water, electricity, metal, earth, light, dark, etc. May be used without combining it to another magic, as long as it doesn't come into contact with the caster, as they'd have no defensive properties against it. Each different element is considered to be its own branch of magic.

Physical magic
One of the most basic types of magic and also one of the easiest to learn. Physical magic is often used by defensive and beserker type classes. Physical magic can be used to both increase defense or brute strength. Higher levels of physical magic also allow for increases in speed and the user's natural senses.

Rune magic
Magic stored in ancient magic symbols. Often used for traps or as a catalyst for imbuing magic. Rune magic can also be used to craft scrolls and tomes. Scrolls can be used at a later time without having to worry about spending any magic, though they're typically limited in uses. Tomes are typically used as a catalyst to give the caster spells they wouldn't normally be able to use, at a much lower mana cost.

Summoning magic
Magic used to create special bonds with creatures, allowing the caster to summon any beast they've created this bond with. In order to create a bond the caster must first overpower the creature. Then they must perform a small bonding ritual. Also, if a creature has a strong level of willpower then they may refuse the bond even if defeated. Casters may only summon as many creatures as they can control at a time. This may be split up in numerous ways, such as summoning one large and powerful creature or summoning three less powerful creatures.

Imbuing magic
Imbuing magic is essential for any smiths who wish to create powerful soul imbued weapons and armor. Imbuing magic is also commonly known as craftsmans magic, since it can be used for many purposes. It's also used in potion crafting, and can be combined with rune magic to amplify its properties.

Ritual magic
Ritual magic refers to any magic that cannot be instantly cast and requires steps in order to cast it. Often times this is useful for gathering large amounts of magic without having to expend all of your own magic, but the time it takes to perform usually makes it a poor combat choice.

Soul magic
Soul magic is a more uncommon type of magic though it's not excessively rare. Soul magic is the art of giving one's soul a physical form. The reason it's an uncommon is due to the level of skill it takes to properly control it. Beginning users are typically only able to just barely have their soul take shape in the form of a sort of aura around selective areas on the body, giving it a sort of added strength. At times of mortal peril some users' souls may take the form of a beast in order to defend themselves. In this state the caster will go on an uncontrollable rampage, unable to differentiate between friend and foe. Anytime a caster's soul take form it becomes vulnerable to direct damage, though it takes large quantities of magic to directly damage even weak souls so it's fairly uncommon to see such damage. Direct damage to the soul can't be healed by normal means. The only way for it to heal is to seek out a specialist or wait for it to heal on its own. Casters with soul damage tend to feel pain in the afflicted area, especially when attempting to use soul magic again.

Magic affinities
Each character has their own starting magic affinity which gives them extra strength in whatever branch of magic they have an affinity for. It most likely won't be used in this campaign but there are methods to obtain more than one affinity.

Weapons and armor

Players can use just about any type of weapon you'd see today, from blades to guns to some more unique items. The power of weapons and armor is determined by their soul level, which can be increased by using souls collected from creatures and using imbuing magic to forge them into the equipment. Each piece of equipment has a limit to how much power can be imbued into it, which is determined by the material it's made of.

Player class types

There's no set class builds but it's usually typical for reapers to be categorized based on their fighting style. Here are the main classes.

Brutal Reaper (Offensive tank)
Fights using brute strength and devastating force. Capable of dealing large amounts of damage to foes but are typically known for being fairly slow.

Guardian Reaper (Defensive tank)
Specializes in defensive magics to protect themselves and allies. Most carry a shield with defensive magic imbued within for added protection. Many of them also have minor practice in some healing magics as well.

Solemn Reaper (general fighter/ knight)
Solemn reapers fight using a combination of physical magics and either arcane or elemental magics. They have a wide range of styles but the best solemn reapers can be the central force that holds a team together.

Silent Reaper (Rogue)
Silent reapers are versed in the arts of stealth and powerful close range attacks. They tend to be nimble and evasive since they don't have as much defense as other types of reapers.

Enchanting Reaper (Healer)
Enchanting reapers use enchantment spells to heal allies and enchant them with enhanced abilities.

Spellweaver Reaper (Mid-short range caster)
Spellweavers cast arcane or elemental magics while still remaining close enough in the fight to occasionally assist the leading force.

Deadeye Reaper (Long range caster)
Deadeye reapers cast powerful arcane and elemental magics from afar at the cost of defensive power. They receive the name Deadeye due to their tendency to be impeccably accurate.

Beastcaller Reaper (Summoner)
Specializes in group attacks, using summoned beasts to help fight along side themselves.

Academy Classes

As you progress in skill more classes will become available to you. The classes with more powerful skills will be more expensive to buy. Also your ranking as a reaper will determine what classes are available to you. Currently you'll only have access to F rank classes, the lowest rank in the academy. Ranks in the academy range from F to A, and your rank controls much of what is open to you in the academy, such as what missions you can take from the bounty board, and what types of weapons the school shop will sell you.

your first week will consist of these classes:
1st- You may choose between an elemental magic, arcane magic, summoning magic or soul magic.
2nd- you may choose between offensive, defensive, nimble, or balanced physical magic.
3rd- You may choose between potion imbuing magic, equipment imbuing magic, rune magic or ritual magic.
4th- Mandatory survival studies.

Bio: Hailing from a clan North in her lands, Xiomara, Enfys was an average kit. So average, it seemed to her clan, and particularly her parents, that she wouldn't make anything of herself. When she was young lady, she began to feel the life of the planet as her clan could, and felt an even closer connection with the rivers and streams around her. Still this was not enough to convince her parents she would make much of herself. When she was chosen by the Grimm Reaper himself, she did not give any warning to her disappearance. Certainly her kin would have scoffed in disbelief and waved her aside. Enfys is new to this life, and her skills are far below. Where her siblings have gained second and third tails in their short lifespans, she remains with one. Her ultimate goal is to become stronger than she is now. Her skills should prove to make a great Rogue. I mean, that's what the Eviere are natural at, no?

Bio: His father was a proud Orcish warrior who raised young Varkuul on the idea that he was born of the strongest races, making him better than most other beings, and any who would tell him that he was a monstrosity were simply cowards afraid of his power. Naturally this gave him quite the inflated ego, which has gotten him into trouble numerous times. It's not that he goes looking for trouble, he just never knows when to back down., and often times he talks down to others, not realizing that others take offense to such things. Certainly it also never helped that he'd attack anyone without notice with even the slightest of insults towards his father. Once Varkuul became curious and began asking questions Varkuul's father told him that his mother had passed away when he was young. Some time after Varkuul turned 17 his father was slain in battle trying to defend their village from an enemy tribe. Varkuul, in a furious rage, managed to avenge his father and helped defend his tribe. Though he was revered for his efforts in the battle, Varkuul ultimately decided that he no longer had a place there and took off in search of a place he could call home. Years later his journey lead him to Vastille academy and the path of the reapers.

He keeps his white hair long, down to the small of his back and held loosely in a pony tail which he tucks into the back of his shirt in the case of enclosing combat. He has two tails, icy blue with black and white tips. He prefers loose, practical clothing that won't get in the way of magic casting and keeps his feet in wraps rather than wear shoes. Bio: Always a quiet kid, Shiori preferred to stay far away from any sort of interaction and conflict. His interests laid in lore, history, and magic. As a result, he developed a strong affinity for magical artifacts found on the excursions of older people in his clan to ancient temples, old mines, dungeons and the sort. Shiori soon found himself joining these trips, and his favorite belonging became his collection of old magic junk, which he guards like a dragon to its treasure. Ever the intellectual, he always describes his magic artifacts (and anything else he favors) using just obscure enough diction to make them seem better than they actually are. His close work with objects of magical natures from childhood has made him quite aware of his own budding magical prowess. After hearing of Vastille, he quickly made up his mind to go to the school, leaving shortly with barely telling his own family. No one really noticed.
