Isobel (played anonymously)

Isobel could still feel her face burning as she realized she may have jumped to a somewhat far-fetched conclusion. Not that she'd really admit to it. She crossed her arms at Hunter's comment just before he left. People have done it in stranger places. That didn't quite seem like a good thing to say though, so she kept it to herself.

Rae's reaction was hardly any better. Isobel had to admit it was reasonable, given her own reaction. Rae's words puzzled her though. She didn't talk as if she were really attracted to Hunter, although actions proved otherwise. Then again, part of that might have been Isobel's fault too.

Rae paced back and forth thinking about her own words. Was it true she would never have sex with the human? She bit her lip and kept thinking. She was attracted to him, more like a lot, but then she thought about how she was a werewolf. In her whole life, she had never heard of a werewolf being with a human. " Ugh.. I need to go outside. " She exited the room Isobel was in and walked down the hallways. The walk turned into a run as she made her ways to the exit of the hospital. She walked once at the doors and made her way into the forest. Outside of the hospital, it was so peaceful. She had forgotten about anything until she thought about the situation. She thought about the situation of her and Hunter, then her and Isobel.

((It's best that we drop that subject))

Hunter walked down the hallway to the cafeteria and found the bar area. Usually places like this wouldn't have alcohol, but many people actually lived here for extended amounts of time. Hunter added a dark liquid to his coffee and took a gulp. He sighed and leaned against the counter.

Isobel stood in the room alone for a moment, unsure of what she should do. She was, of course, very much aware of the fact that she'd botched that conversation up quite well. She groaned and left the room, hoping she might be able to run into one of them and apoologize.

Rae walked outside, but turned and made her way to the door. She didn't want to test her luck out here and everything felt weird. The main entrance was full of people, people she hated. Even though only a little while ago she was saved by these people, she still wouldn't mind killing a few. Rae pushed through them and occasionally punched anyone in her way. She growled lowly at everyone and made her way back towards a room. She saw Isobel and sighed. " Hey, Isobel, I'm right in front of you. " Rae walked until she was close enough to the girl. " I'm sorry for being a pain today, will you forgive me? "

Several gulps, and a few sips Hunter finished the coffee. Now he was awake as ever, although he wasn't sure exactly what time it was. He reached out to refill his Irish coffee, when a strange sensation came over him. There was a tingle in his hands, but it spread. Hunter felt weak, and soon he collapsed, hitting the counter and falling to the floor. When the coffee cup fell on the tiles, it shattered, bring attention from nearby people. Someone rushed over. Checking his vitals, then his tags, they knew what had happened.

A distress call sounded from the speakers as one of the doctors with Hunter made a call. All able class A doctors, report to and prepare THE emergency room. This is not a drill. There was a pause as the whole building went silent. Nobody spoke, and nobody moved, they all seemed to be very surprised. Then they snapped out of it and those that were called all rushed down one hallway. Others went to attend quickly to their patients or to get out of the way. Several rushed with a gurney to the cafeteria where Hunter had left, although he wasn't sure if the girls knew were that was.

Security guards talked quickly on the radio to each other and started clearing the hallway. One approached Rae and Isobel, asking them to clear out.

While this alert was going on, Hunter's unconscious body had started to pale, strands of color worked through his skin and eyes, turning more than just the red that should be there. There were strands of blue, green, yellow, red, and purple. This was an extremely rare and serious case, those around him watched in horror at a thing almost none of them had seen, let alone operated on.

Isobel was glad when she bumped into Rae. And here she was trying to find her and apologize when Rae was doing just that. A wry smile touched her lips and she said, "Only if you can forgive me for how I reacted earlier. I--" Isobel was interrupted by the distress call and announcement. Everyone around them went deathly quiet. This had to be pretty big for such a serious announcement.

Once it was done, everyone seemed to snap back into motion, going every which way. One man came up to Rae and Isobel, asking them to clear out. "What's going on? What's happened?" She wasn't overly concerned as she didn't know about Hunter. She figured whoever was being rushed to THE emergency room was just a stranger.

Rae smiled at Isobel's words, she shouldn't have told Isobel in front of Hunter. Her emerald eyes looked around and saw the energy buzzing through the air. " Don't worry about it. " Slipped out her mouth before she heard the speaker go off. Fear went down her spine and the hairs on her arms stood up. The air was filled with a new feeling, a new energy, one of distress. Rae bit her lip and pushed past the man, walking into the group.

The sudden energy and craziness made Rae feel comfortable. Her whole life was a wreck,so she enjoyed craziness. The frantic humans around her made her grit her teeth. The craziness, the energy, it was all making her want to change. Her heart rate quickened, but she snapped out of it. She turned and walked towards Isobel. " Hunter.... " She mumbled under her breathe. Only a little while earlier he was talking about something that he did to protect them. " Hunter... " She mumbled again, trying to connect the puzzle pieces. " Isobel, I think its Hunter. " As she spoke these words, fear rose into her eyes and she started to slightly shake. Without a moment to speak furthermore, Rae took off in a mad dash trying to find where all the people were going.

Rae's words made Isobel freeze for a moment. "Are you sure?" She called to Rae as she followed behind. She held onto Rae's hand, afraid of being swept away from her by the people running around them. She chewed on her lip in worry, hoping that it wouldn't be Hunter as Rae thought. If it was Hunter...she'd just have to be there in case the doctors couldn't do anything for him. The ones here were pretty good at their job though, so she doubted her help would be needed.

Rae felt Isobel clasp onto her hands and did not stop. She dragged her along, running as fast her body could. She turned and followed the people and made her way to where all the people were. She slowed down, still pulling Isobel. Tears welded up in her eyes as she thought about what could have happened to Hunter. She should have never left him or she could have done something else to help him. The pang of guilt struck her in the chest, but she had no idea why. " Hunter... " She said under her breathe as she shoved people out of the way.

As soon as Rae broke into the circle, she was pushed out of it. "Someone get that girl out of here," said one of them. Two tall male doctors blocked the way and gently made room. The gurney came through the door and they lifted Hunter off the ground, and onto the little bed. The two doctors blocked the girls as they wheeled the pale Hunter Archill out of the cafeteria and quickly into a room down several hallways.

Rae gritted her teeth in frustration. Calm down Rae.. Calm down! She backed up and grabbed the ends of her shirt. It was to late, the frustration and energy around her room was triggering her werewolf form. She bit the inside of her cheek and in a flash of a light she was a wolf. She hadn't been in her wolf form since the whole testing thing and the difference was easy to tell. Her coat looked thicker and her teeth were sharper. She growled and breathed in and out. " Now who's going to let me see Hunter? " She said, her upper lip curling up so her teeth showed.
Isobel (played anonymously)

Isobel followed behind Rae, almost running into her when they stopped. She could hear the wheels of the gurney. There was the slight rustle of fur when Rae changed into her wolf form and Isobel dug her fingers into the fur around Rae's scruff. She sent her calming thoughts. It wouldn't do to have them think she was a threat again and take her away. Isobel was dependent on her eyes and presence. "We can help Hunter. I might be able to succeed in healing him if the doctors fail."

"Feral!" Shouted someone as guns were drawn in every direction. "Don't move!" Unlike Hunter's gun, these didn't hum to to show non-lethal bullets had been selected. Seriously, someone muttered in the back, she picks this moment to cause trouble?
I know, muttered another in response, but she's Hunter's friend, like that other girl, so we can't kill her for going feral against us.
If Hunter dies because of her insolence, I will kill her. The last whisper belonged to Hunter's co-worker, Alyssa, and trained ears could pick up the anger she had in her voice.

Back with Hunter, his skin was almost completely drained of normal color. The lines of color crept farther along his body, his eyes no longer resembling that of any living creature. They gazed up at the ceiling with no specific target, not that Hunter could actually see or react to anything. They hooked him up to read his vitals, and immediately started taking blood after. A lot of blood. One of the five doctors rushed out of the room, about to vomit. He was quickly replaced by the next doctor to step in.

After time draining thick, dark 'blood', the group prepared a machine to cleans his blood, something that they could only hope would work. A doctor who had been up too late the night before had to step out, only to be replaced by the next free doctor. Before they could cleanse his blood, Hunter started shaking. He shook violently.

"Hold him down!" Shouted one. The tremors took three of the five doctors to hold him down. The other two tried desperately to get the machine ready. Then Hunter stopped breathing. His heartbeat kept a slowing pulse as his seizures stopped. There was a new problem now, no oxygen intake meant no life, and Hunter was no exception.

The senior doctor looked over at the dying man. "Check his throat. He shouldn't have stopped breathing." When they followed his orders, they found no answers. Then the heart stopped and someone cussed.

"Jolt him."

Rae felt Isobel calm her to the point where her body naturally changed. She couldn't decide anymore when she wanted to change, it was unpredictable now. She gasped for air now and coughed a few times, they did alter her form so it was harder for her to use. The words the scientist said were alarming, but she heard a voice she remembered... Alyssa.. Anger and jealousy boiled inside of her like a growing fire. Her emerald eyes stared at her, but she directed her eyes to Hunter. This man, the man she had feelings for, was dying in front of her face. The guilt, the sadness, it hit her in an instance and tears formed in her eyes. For the first time, in years, Rae cried. The tears fell out of her eyes and she stood up. " Please, try and do everything to save him. " This was her last resort, to trust Hunters human things. All along she was a stubborn ass and now she regretted it.

Isobel kept sending Rae calming thoughts, keeping her in human form. She'd heard the whispers too and ignored them as best as she could. She squeezed Rae's hand. If anything, they only made her more determined to help Hunter. She knew Rae wasn't bad, even if these people weren't convinced. "We can help." She said again, more firmly. It was clear she wasn't going to take no for an answer.

Jumping the gun when doctors could handle it was something she could forgive herself for. Waiting around and letting Hunter die when she could of healed him was something she could not forgive herself for. Isobel started walking forward in the direction that they'd wheeled Hunter in. She held Rae's hand tight as she walked, determined to get to Hunter.

As they came closer, she heard a sound that stopped her cold. The long beep that meant only one thing. "Oh god..." Her voice was barely above a whisper. Her blood felt like it had turned to ice and her cheeks were wet.

Only trained ears would have been able to hear the conversations in the room, which would most likely be no problem for the two supernatural girls. "Clear!" Yelled a female voice, then there was a shock.

"Do it again."

"Clear!" And another shock. This was repeated several times. The lead doctor let out a fairly audible curse. There was a pause, then a single beep. Then another beep. And another. Soon there was a steady rhythm coming from Hunter's heart.

This victory, however, was short lived. "Heartbeat is steady, but the toxins are spreading fast. Sir, we can't save him. His cells are killing each other and themselves."

"Then we nix plan a, and move to plan b."

"Sir!"

"Do not question my orders."

"Yes sir..."

Two doctors exited, making sure the door closed before they left, and it locked. Several moments later they returned with a cart holding bone saws, drills, needles, scalpels, and other creepy utensils. They shot the supernatural girls a look of death before entering the room again.

It was a passing doctor that would let slip information to the girls as she talked to another concerned coworker. "It's the healing syrum. He used too much in too short a time. I think it was this last mission that did him in. Poor guy, horrible way to go."

Machines sounded from the other side of the door. Both wet and dry drilling sounds came across the metal threshold. It was enough to make the dead cringe. The only words to break through the door were that of another doctor. "Sir, this isn't working."

Rae heard the sounds and no longer tried to look tough. Her legs went out and she fell to the ground. Burrying her head in her hands, she cried softly. It seemed right when she trusted a human, everything was gone. I was made to kill. These words rang out in her head, she was remembering all the stuff before the rampage Rae went off at Hunter in the testing building. Hunter was the only human she ever trusted or loved, but now he was slipping out of her hands.

The doctors' look of death as they went back to the room was lost on Isobel. Not that she'd have really cared if she could see them. It felt like her world was shattering and falling apart into millions of tiny jagged shards. Even if they'd let her in, how could she heal against healing? The healing serum he'd taken so that he could go out and save them...She sunk down to her knees next to Rae, arms holding the girl tight like she was a life preserver in the midst of a storm with no help in sight. There was a strange wailing sound that took Isobel a moment to realize it was coming from herself. It was a sound full of hopeless despair and mourning.

For the second time Hunter stopped breathing. Then the machine flat lined again. Rather than jumping into action like they did the last time this happened to their patient, they grew quiet.

"Sir..."

The speaker was cut off by the senior doctor. "I know," he said solemnly. The noise stopped as the machine was unplugged. "He's gone. Burn the body, we don't want anything else contaminated." Someone nodded and wheeled him out a side door.

The door by the girls opened and out stepped the senior doctor. His gray hair told of his age, and his pained expression gave away the news. "I'm sorry, we did everything we could. Supernatural Guardian Hunter Archill did not make him. His body has been sent to incineration to avoid further contamination of anything else."

The girls would be released either the same day, or the next depending on how they felt. They would be free to go wherever they wished. The organic tracking devices had broken down so they would not be traced. Five days after their release, Hunter would have his funeral, two days after Marc's. Although he had already had to 'die' in order to work this job and so had no family that knew, friends and co-workers showed up to pay their respects. Alyssa never showed up, but Greg and the rest of his poker buddies did. With his high risk job, Hunter's will was rather general, for it was designed to work if he and several of the people he had willed things to died. The main request, however, was that the ashes be spread somewhere significant. It didn't matter where, or who took it, so long as that one rule was followed.

Hunter received a formal Supernatural Custodian ceremony. His armor was pieced together on a rack and stood over his grave marker, just like that of every other fallen Custodian and Guardian in this secret cemetery. The bullet holes, scratches, and nicks in the armor were left there, they represented his last battle. The marker itself was simple. It read:
In memory of
Supernatural Guardian
Hunter Archill
1991-2014
Died from protecting
his charges. Died a
Hero's death.

His marker rested next to Marc's grave and marker. Through all of their time as co workers, Greg knew both of them pretty well. He left a beer on each of their markers, and gave each their last poker hand, then a salute to them both, one tear falling to the lush grass. "You should have known when to fold mate," Greg said to the black and green suit of armor in front of him. "You could still be in the poker game, you just had to have folded." Then he walked away. Hunter's suit remained speechless.

So concluded Hunter's service, funeral, and poker game. His legacy, however, was a werewolf and blind girl he had made sure, under pain of death, to keep alive.
