A look ahead at 2016

Posted by Kim on January 1, 2016, 12:34pm

Welcome to the year twenty thousand and sixteen, everyone! I'm sure someone will be along to hand out jet packs any moment now.

For the RP Repository, the theme of 2016 is "growth." All kinds of growth: growing the member base, growing the number of RPs occurring or being found on the site, growing our skills and ourselves as people.

I have a list of juicy features and events for 2016 that I can hardly wait to share with you!

What about you? What's your personal theme or goals for 2016? Please share in the comments!

To kick 2016 off right, we're going to have another series of community discussion topics this January! I hope you'll be able to join us and share your thoughts. We want to hear your voice!

Live Community Discussion Topic #1: "How to attract people to a RP"
Saturday, January 16 2016, 12pm PST
Whether it's a one on one or a large group you're trying to get started, a fresh idea or a world that's existed for ages and needs new blood, whether it's online or off: We're going to explore what attracts YOU to a RP, what red flags scare you off, and where go looking.

Live Community Discussion Topic #2: "How to rekindle a dying RP"
Saturday, January 23 2016, 12pm PST
Even the best RPs can lose steam over time. What causes it? What can you do to fire them up again? Is there a point at which it's best to just let go? Let's find out together!

Not sure what time that is in your time zone? Try this handy dandy time zone converter.

Both discussions will take place in the Just Talkin' chat. We'll be compiling the advice and opinions you give in these chats into news and help articles, to help RPers for years to come!

Become more artistically competent now that life doesn't suck quite as much!

So much stuff I am planning to learn and get better at.

Ah, the good ol' New Year's resolutions... Instead of saying "My resolution is to have no resolution," let's put some effort into this year!

1. Expand the plot of my ArcanaBURST project and continue worldbuilding for it.

2. Actually open a roleplay thread and dive in first with asking for a nice long-term roleplay with one or more of my characters.

3. Continue the slow trek of bug-hunting to help out RPR. (The least I can do to thank a site that's helped me be a bit more social and outspoken.)

4. And of course... Draw and write more than the last year.

....I think I can do some progress on two out of 4. Maybe 3 out of four? ....I don't know. XD Happy New Year's, everyone!

I'm going to try my best in my Education!

I'll write more and maybe, just maybe, finish N0P:FL and be set to commit myself entirely to FATE and perhaps a sequel to N0P!

I'll get more active this year and be the best Basketball player I can be!

I'll try to make more friends and do homework!

I'll get better at Chinese and hopefully German!

I'll become better at organising myself!

I'll relax!

I'll join one of those discussions (Most likely the first) even though it's at like 6 in the morning!

And!

I'll be hunting for more bugs!!!

Aw, I plan to join the community discussions, but chances of attending them are pretty slim. :( I still look forward to reading an article or two with the results, nonetheless!

For my personal goals this year, I hope to accomplish at least two or three of these:
  • Do even better in college!
  • Buy my own graphic tab to draw a lot more and work on serious improvement!
  • Be less lazy and more productive; unlearn how to procrastinate.
  • Collect more books.
  • Get and play more games.
  • Grow to be more active on both sides of the same coin: online and reality. (Does seem kind of hard though.)

I think my number one new year's resolution right now is to graduate!! It's been rough, especially finance-wise, but I want to do it! :D
I'm also going to try to watch what I eat (not for my weight but because I have a delicate stomach), and to get more of a control on my anxiety. :)

Oh.. Well that's awesome. My resolution is just to keep my grades up and have fun with life

Seeing as how I never keep myself to my new years promises, this year I'll set the bar so low that maybe in some cosmic occurrence I'll do the exact oppposite.

- Don't finish my bachelor

- Become lazy

- Don't learn a new trade

- Steal money from the local orphanage

- Set fire to my property

Yup, that ought to do it.

I only have one resolution for 2016... and that's to make something worthwhile in terms of animation. I've dabbled in animation in the past, and I know I have what it takes... I just have to apply myself, and I hope I get to do that this year.

I made a New Year's resolution:
No drawing humans.
And I already broke it

But I'll try the usual 'brush my teeth' thing when I actually get to my tooth brush
And I'll try to not have things pile up on me, again. I swear, they'll come at a calm pace and then BOOM all at you once

But we'll see

My personal goals in 2016 are:

1. Find a new place to live!
I don't live in a good place right now at all, and I was unable to move for years. All of it inhibited my mental health recovery. Thanks to my accomplishments in 2015 I'm going to be able to find and move into a new apartment around March. :D

2. Work on myself.
Got lots of health things to improve on!

3. Work my way up the Virtual Assistant ladder!
I want to do this full time within a couple of years now, so I'm working hard to make this reality.

4. Start selling my knitting.
I've learned so much and gotten so far with my knitting that I'm finally confident enough to take on commissions! I can't wait to get setup and sell things. :)
