Arien put his hand out, blocking her briefly from walking past him. "Red, how often do your spells last? Do they normally happen so often?"

If she looked at him, she'd see his concern.

Bella twisted a little in her sleep, rolling onto her side into a more comfortable position.

Red looked at him confused then realized what he was talking about.
"You mean..the pain right?" she mumbled and looked at her feet.

Patch fell off of Bella and onto the floor then woke up and started mewling. Patch had been comfortable till he fell off and landed on the cold, hard floor.

Arien nodded. "Yes. Is it getting worse? You passed out earlier. What happens if you aren't able to get your medication?"

He heard the commotion in the other room, but he wasn't going to let Red go until she answered him.

Meanwhile Bella woke up to the mewing and stuffed her nose under Patches' stomach, trying to quiet the kitten.

Red chewed on her lip, thinking about the outcome then closed her eyes.
"The medication just dulls the pain. Thats all its there for. It gets worse every time, soon it'll kill me. I will die sooner then Neo or Nex will. Or even you. Ash cursed me with it to cause pain to me and everyone around me," Red spoke softly then walked to the nearest wall and leaned against it; slideing down to sit.

Patch stopped mewling and purred when Bella stuck her nose under his stomach. He clambered back onto her head then down her neck and layed down on her side. Her fur provided warmth for Patch and he curled up tightly into her fur.

"Oh." Arien's face fell at the direness of the situation. "If Ash placed the curse on you, couldn't she just as easily remove it?" If they could find her--it would, well might, make things easier.

Bella curled up around the kitten, her plumed tail wrapping over her feet to keep them warm.

Red shrugged. "Ash wouldnt want to.." she murmured.
Red had felt helpless and distraut in the begginging but now it was a thought she lived with every day.

"Wouldn't isn't the same as 'couldn't'." Arien said. But he looked down at Red and sighed. "I'm sure there's a way to talk her around, but we'd have to find her first. Besides, I'm glad I met you."

The last part spilled out unwittingly, and he flushed red.

Red snapped her head up at the last part then smiled as he blushed.m
"You are?" she asked, still smiling.

Patch finally fell asleep, warm and cozy in Bella's fur.

Arien grinned when she smiled, his blush still evident. "What can I say? It's nice to have company again."

Bella snored softly, more relaxed than Arien had ever seen her.

Red kept smiling then stood up.
"Its supposed to be a chilly night. Im gonna check on Neo and Nex," she said, while walking out of the room.

Nex flicked his ear in irritation as Neo ranted about how they shouldnt have fought then they wouldnt be out here freezing their tails off.

Arien watched Red go and leaned against the wall with a sigh. What was he doing? No, scratch that, what was he thinking? Why did he feel the urge to protect her? And why did he want so badly to hunt down this person called Ash?

He rubbed his forehead. Thus far he hadn't once considered spiking her food with Tabasco, and his initial attempts at flirting had been thwarted. Furthermore he was blushing like a teenager. He couldn't remember the last time he blushed--before he had met Red that is. "What is wrong with me?" he muttered.

Red had lied, she was going for a walk. A long, far walk. She walked out the back door and headed towards the burnt down town. Why do i get so nervous when im around him? What is wrong with me? With other people i take care of them if they need it then send them on their without a second thought. I've never told anyone of the death sentence..
Red smelled smoke and it dragged her from her thoughts. She stopped at the dge of the forest, every building had burned down in town. Very few people were still around, there were a few children alone without anyone to take care of them. Red was thrust back into the past when she had been in the fire. Suddenly she was swamped with feelings of affection for the children, knowing they were without anyone. Leaning against the nearest tree, Red dug her nails into the bark.

Arien waited for a few minutes, and when Red didn't return, he stepped outside to see if she was still checking on the tigers. He didn't see her.

"Oh fantastic. Bella!" The wolf got up grudgingly and came towards him as Arien reconsidered. "Stay." he told her and took a quick lap around the outside of the house. He still didn't see Red, but he thought he had an idea of where she might go. He wavered--follow after her or give her some space?

He didn't mean to teleport. Honest. It just happened. He found himself once again outside the healer's burned and smokey building. "Yeah, that's exactly what I wanted to do," Arien muttered, flipping the long cloak over one arm to keep it out of the ash.

Red started coughing from the smoke then she retreated to the small, clear pond. She drank some water then stared into the pond. She frowned at her curly, red hair because it was quite messy. Well i can never inpress Arien this way... Red's eyes widen when she caught herself thinking of impressing Arien.
"Why do i want to inpress him?" she whispered.
Red stood up quickly and walked out of the forest, she headed straight for the town.

He turned to head back to the forest, when he caught sight of charred embers. For a moment he looked without seeing and then he realized what they were. His stomach heaved but he fought it back down. Bodies. Not everyone had managed avoid the fire.

And that wasn't all. The stillness of the town was broken at last by a wail. Followed by another. He ran back into the healer's building praying that something had survived. A ragtag of bandages and some fire-proof salve had thankfully been set aside in some fire-retardant room. But there wouldn't be enough.

He ran back outside, and nearly ran into a wailing kid with burns and scrapes. He knelt down quickly, forgetting about his cloak. "Its alright, let me treat you," he said, unwinding bandage and smearing salve onto it.

Red walked up to the first kid she saw, it was a girl about 5 or 6 looking very thin and tired.
"Here," she said, handing the child some food and smiled kindly.
These people need help...she thought in horror.
After she had given the one girl food, several other children gathered around, putting the hands out; begging for food. Red looked at all of them sorrowfully. She smiled at them to reassure the kids. Then she motioned for them to follow her. Lots of kids followed her into the woods, where she led them to the pond and had all of them sit down.
Taking off her cover up shirt, she ripped it up into strips then dipped some of them into the water. Washing off the ash and dirt, from the children. She comforted them then passed out some food that she had stored in a small reserve pack.

The kid was soon joined by others, some older, some carrying babies that coughed with smoke inhalation. He wouldn't be able to save all of them. If only he had had healing abilities like his friend, he might have done better...

Arien treated as much as he could. Salve on burns, bandages on open wounds and sores. He doctored until there was nothing left. The fire had eaten everything. "Ash," he grumbled under his breath, "what did you hope to gain from so much destruction? If you meant to kill Red, you would have done so, face to face. I hate cowards."

He stomped his way back to the woods, leading a trail of half-burned, half-starved kids and teens who had managed to flee the fire. He passed a hand over his face when he heard more voices up ahead. He paused and then almost smiled when he saw another group gathered around a pond.

"Looks like smart minds think alike," he murmured, stepping aside to let the ones who had followed him run to the cool waters.

Red had run back to house and gathered all her burn supplies as well as bandages. She had arribed just before the new group of people arrived. Carrying three rabbits, she made quick work of skinning and cleaning the animals. Then she had a couple of young boys start a small fire.
She cut the meat into stips then cooked them over the fire, handing them out to the new arrivals. Handing the rest of the meat to her previous group of children. Treating cuts, and burns then wrapping the really bad ones, she realized she enjoyed helping these people.
Quickly, Red put her hair back up into a messy ponytail then set to worm caring for these people.

Patch mewled when Bella got up, making him fall to the floor again.

Bella had looked up when Red had entered briefly and started to follow her out when the mewing caught her attention. She stopped and picked up the cat by its scruff, before launching out the door, following Red.

Arien smelled something cooking and he went over to see what it was. As did, of course, the others he'd brought.

"We're gonna need more than that," he said and then realized he didn't have his sword on him. "Am I ever going to bring anything important with me when I teleport?" He ranted, before seeing a blur of black. "Bella?"

Red sighed and picked up the bow she brought.
"Right more food," she said tiredly.
Red had been caring for this group of children for over an hour and weariness had started to take over. Walking away to find a good deer or rabbit, she took out an arrow and strung her bow.
A soft breeze sprung up out of nowhere and carried a familar scent with it. Red froze and looked around, feeling another presence there. She could still smell it.. It was a very sweet smell.
I know this scent.... Its...Ash!! Red thought and her eyes widened. Forgetting everything, Red ran deeper into the forest towards the scent.
"Ash!!!" she yelled and ran as fast as she could toward the light ahead of her.

The kids heard Red's yell but couldnt make out what it said. They all went back to their chattering.

Patch's paws flailed in the air as Bella carried him.
