Morgause (played by Raider-jack29)

Just as Morgana did, Morgause rode out in a full suit of armor. And at her side was strapped a traditional long sword.

For awhile, she rode in silence as she led the others far from the castle , and into the nearby forest. A place where birds chirped and big cats hunted.

She moved swiftly on the back of her steed, so much so that for a moment it would appear that she herself was part of the wind.
Once they were well out of sight and hearing, deep into the wilderness, Morgana paused and looked on at Morgause curiously "Well then, lady Morgause, to what purpose have you brought us here?" asked Morgana

Nimueh made no gesture to heal the prince as of yet.

"Here lays the fallen knight of Camelot and behold... the cup of Retribution... summoned from the Isle of the Blessed at Merthyr's demand. His quest is to have it brimming and hold it so for three days and three nights. It is however no easy task to fill it, never mind keep it so. Any wrongdoing will lessen its content, so will tipping the cup. His path of penance is but an ardous one. Heed my words, Sir Mordred, for Merthyr's sake and for Camelot's you will have to be cruel to be kind" warned Nimueh leaving the cup with a finger's worth of liquid within.

"Have him taken to your rooms, Sir Mordred, once there he will heal, that he may start earning redemption" advised Nimueh vanishing afterwards

Josh's chest puffed up at the suggestion from princess Morgana that not only he was a squire, but a valiant squire, brave enough to be entrusted the care and safety of, Amber, the princess lady-in-waiting

"I will escort you there at once if you would like..." offered Josh

(OOC: good night!)
Morgause (played by Raider-jack29)

Morgause would eventually stop, deep within the woods, her eyes turned to gaze at the Two.
"Despite her misgivings, Nimueh is wise beyond her years. She believes just as the ancients do, that the sins of the father fallow the son. She will no doubt task him a great burden, I plea with you both not to interfere with this. As he will grow as he takes this task into his own hands. "

" though that is but one of the reasons I've asked you both here today. I have felt such strong presences from you both, Each of you carried such potential. I seek to bring that potential forth. Each of you is gifted with immense power."

(OOC: Night!)
Mordred (played by Guingamor)

Mordred nodded, absorbing her words carefully.

Not having the strength to lift the prince on his own, he called on a few guards to assist him in taking Merthyr to the servant room in his quarters. He made sure to bring the cup as well, placing it in full view of the sleeping Merthyr after he was laid onto the bed.

He frowned, pausing. The prince would need a quest to test him, in due time. Instead of retiring to bed, he grabbed his gear, and a hood, and moved to investigate what was happening in the town.

Taff's eyes widened slightly at Morgause's words. He knew, already, of his magical ability. It was something he kept hidden, and hidden well, using it only during the most dire circumstances.

Morgause is known to be shrewd and intelligent; still he couldn't help being surprised.

Taff glanced at Morgana, looking to see by her reaction whether it would be best to remain hidden.

((OOC: Good night!!))
Amber (played by Mathgeek124)

She smile and nodded. "Thank you." She mumbled before Morgana made her way to her chambers. "That would be lovely." She turned to him and smiled.
Morgana raised an eye of disbelief at Morgause.

"Well... if you and Taff happen to be gifted with immense powers, I suggest you keep them immensely well concealed. In my particular case, however, what I was gifted with are nightime nightmares, a noble birth, a blood debt from the king's behalf for betraying my father lord Gorlois which protects me from harm, and a very sharp tongue along with the freedom to speak up my mind." smiled Morgana completely oblivious she was a sorcerer.

"Still, seeing how things are in Camelot... I suggest you two keep your powers hushed. I have already almost lost Merthyr, I would dread more futile losses" suggested Morgana

Back at the tavern Gawaine and Lancelot were heatedly discussing if not half arguing with Sir Percival and a few others. The knights of the Round Table still locked up in a tug and pull war over the right and wrongdoing going on in Camelot. Neither of the knights comfortable with the slaughter the magic ban had brought about but differing in opinion on how to approach and tackle the situation.

Percival-11-Wallpaper-merlin-characters-33089446-500-279.jpg

"It is clear the law must be upheld and the king must be obeyed, regardless of how harsh his decrees appear to be." insisted Percival "This is no different than going to war or raiding our foes, commoners die, and in this case mostly dangerous magic wielders at that" noted the knight

Gawaine and Lancelot looked up in contempt, defiance if outright disgust, the pair clearly aligned on the opposite views.

Lancelot-Gwaine-merlin-on-bbc-17278295-500-313.jpg

"No no no, our oath goes beyond serving our rightful lord at all times." insisted Gawaine "With or without a sword, a knight is without fear in the face of all, friends and foes alike. He is brave and upright that all may respect and honor him. He safeguards the innocent and does no wrong. He is sworn to valor and courage. His humble and honest heart knows only virtue. His blade defends the helpless and his arms and might upholds the weak. His wrath undoes wicked deeds. His word speaks only the truth. His sword, life and limbs are used in service of his liege lord but righteousness and justice first and foremost, at all costs. Remember, knight, your word is your bond. Fullfil your oaths and accomplish all your promises, or make good on the ones you could not, undertake your quests as if they were but your last that in all things your name may be remembered by your courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control and an indomitable spirit that will not yield even in the face of danger or death" recited Gawaine dutifully

"Herein the words lies the answer and the path to be followed... His sword, life and limbs are used in service of his liege lord, fullfil your oaths, it is what we swore to do when we were knighted, obedience to our king and Camelot's laws unto death itself" reasoned Sir Tristan with resolve, waving a tavern wench to bring another mug of ale

"On the contrary, only when king and laws are just and fair... in service of his liege lord BUT righteousness and justice first and foremost... and to make good on the promises we cannot accomplish... refusal to such outrageous executions would be the right way forward even if it costs our sword for defiance. Thus surrendering my armour would indeed make good on the broken promise, an oath that cannot be maintained because it is cruel and wrong to execute magic wielders simply because of who they are rather than what they've done" pointed out Lancelot in a firm tone of certainty.

If Mordred was there listening in, concealed under his hood, it was clear such words were akin to treason and a direct contradiction to king Conrad's decree

"Your words speak of rebellion which is treason, Sir Lancelot. You were appointed by lord knight Tron Pentre to carry out the execution of the culprits tomorrow. Dare you refuse such an honor as to impart justice in the name of the king as appointed?" questioned Sir Tristan growing angry

"Refuse? Nay! I am going to take up my sword and defend these poor sods from blades like yours" countered Lancelot in a firm and stern resolve

"Sir Lancelot... apologize at once... whilst you are not on duty at present, you are speaking treachery before a knight on watch duties, I suggest, for your benefit, you retract your words and give assurances of your obedience to comply to your given orders." pressed Sir Percival

"I'll be damned if I do... never! Before a friend of yours, Percival, I am a sworn knight of Camelot first and foremost, a knight of the Old Code of Chivalry, my stance remains firm and whatever the weather I'll weather the weather to make good on my oath. My sword shall uphold the weak, tomorrow, not only will I refuse to execute the wretched but I will hold my steel firm, against anyone who dares to try to bring them harm. They were condemned over cheap jewellery and hearsay at the end of the day, no evidence or proven claims. Besides, even if they were to hold magic which may not be the case, none of them brought harm to anyone using it" refused Lancelot indignant.

Percival stood up clearly offended at the blatant defiance.

"Guards, seize Sir Lancelot, arrest and take him away!" ordered Percival in a firm voice of annoyance "I will inform Sir Mordred of his rebellion and the lord Pentre too if needs be" concluded Percival motioning the guards to grab the knight and remove him from the tavern

"No need... I will inform them myself, I will speak the truth even before the king himself if needs must" muttered Lancelot surrendering to the inevitable "Better to spend time toiling away at humble tasks or locked up at the dungeons than have my hands and honor tarnished by spilling innocent blood" defied Lancelot, now regretting having left his sword and daggers and armour back at the fortress, having no weapons to defend himself with and so an easy prey to be seized

Gawaine remained silent, unable to defend Lancelot or prevent Percival from arresting the man, looking in displeasure as knight rose up against knight, setting friendship aside ever so casually. A rift was becoming more apparent among the knights of the realm and this could only lead to a weaker kingdom overall. Still in his heart, he knew Lancelot was right. Someone had to do something to protect the helpless, and clearly, with Lancelot behind bars and Merthyr a slave, there were not many left besides himself.

Merlin-Series-3-The-Coming-Of-Arthur-Part-2-Pics-2.jpg

Gawaine left the tavern with a troubled if determined look and marched straight to Morgause quarters to offer himself as her champion, for the sake of the wretched that would otherwise perish the following day.

A tournament always allowed the winner to claim spoils of war of his choosing, within reason, each duel won brought forth rewards and what better bounty than the lives of innocents and harmless magic wielders. He was sure his mother Morgause would not object to taking up his offer and services, despite he was a sworn knight of Camelot. With that mindset he made haste to look for the queen of Orkney.

Up to that point in time, he had refused to acknowledge his part in Orkney's royalty or kingdom at all. He had refused to accept his lineage and inheritence as queen Morgause heir, though they often saw each other on friendly terms and wrote to each other often. However, if acknowledging his mother and her bloodline lead to lives being saved, all sacrifices and mortifications were little price to pay.

"My, my, your are the princess Morgana of Camelot lady-in-waiting. Dearest, that is no ordinary castle maid position at all, young damsel" complimented Josh with a broad smile "Knights and lady-in-waitings make for a relationship of good standing" assured Josh smittened.

He paused as he passed Mordred's chambers, walking in to check up on Merthyr who was in deep sleep as he was tended to by Nimueh. After cleaning Merthyr's wounded back in warm water, she treated the injuries using mostly natural remedies, herbal disinfectants in the form of oils and ointments and applied bandages, for which he appreciated Josh's strength in lifting and supporting the wounded prince.

"Thank you squire Josh your help is appreciated" thanked Nimueh playing the part of the keen healer as good as any other servant dedicated to their appointed chores. It had been the perfect opportunity to present herself as merely a healer. Now she had a witness to verify that she had not used magic, rather conventional healing remedies and methods, explaining the herbs mixed and purpose for selecting each to the novice, not minding Amber joined in the learning lesson.

She let Josh lower Merthyr back onto the bed, who groaned in his delirium of fever, only to drift off asleep again. Nimueh waited for them to leave, listening to ensure they were truly gone before summoning powerful magic to heal Merthyr's back into soreness and healed scars rather than open infected wounds. This would allow the prince to wake up, rise up and work, despite the mild fever and overall weakness.
Amber (played by Mathgeek124)

She smiled and blushed slightly at the compliment. "Thank you. It is wonderful just to hear the title."

She watched from the door as Josh helped Nimueh and listened as well then walked off afterwards, the smile never leaving her face.
Morgause (played by Raider-jack29)

"Morgana, you do not grasp what I ask as of yet. Morgana, you and Taff both have extrodanary and hidden magics inside you. I know times are not the best here in Camelot but I implore you to trust me on this." And for the first time, it seemed as if lady Morgause was begging. She humbled herself so low as to beg for assistance.

---
Sir Gawain would not receive his mother at the chamber doors, but rather maid Guinevere who had rushed to put her gown back on as she was sleeping prior to his entrance. "Good prince Gawain, what brings you to my ladies chambers at this dreadful hour?"
"Honestly, all this sounds absurd, if you were telling the truth, sounds downright dangerous. You must understand what you are implying here, lady Morgause... I am the king's ward, I stand by the king's side and presence almost all day, every day. And Taff here is the prince's personal manservant. He is watched by the king all day, every day, more often than not. If what you say is true and we were sorcerers of sorts, as you claim, we are the closest to the king, under heaviest vigilance day and night, thus at the highest possible risk to be found out and executed for practicing sorcery" pointed out Morgana uncomfortable

"I can happily conceal that which I do not know about... but using magic to assit you in your quest is a new strange concept altogether, learned at the worse of times too. Can you imagine me a sorcerer? what good would that do to anyone? I would need to learn how to be a sorcerer in the first place before I can even consider helping you with my supposed powers" trailed off Morgana "Tell me... was I cursed with magic? or was I born like it?" asked Morgana hesitant looking at Morgause for the answers about herself she didn't know in the first place

"Taff, you on the other hand, you clearly are a sorcerer and you know it" accused Morgana finger pointing at the servant "You didn't even flinch or react when she called you out on it" frowned Morgana not best pleased at the discovery

"Tell me, is sorcery learned from books, like trying out spells or does it just happen... naturally?" asked Morgana half curious to find out

"Let us talk briefly on the way, we must head back, it is getting dark and the knights and lords will be worried unduly... but you can answer my questions along the way" invited Morgana turning the horse around uneasy at the findings.

"Please, Guinevere, I am just Sir Gawain, knight of Camelot, no prince is to be found here" assured Gawain humble, waving his hand from his chest down as he presented himself as nothing more than a dutiful knight

"Tell me is mother here? I mean, is queen Morgause of Orkney here? Did she return already?" asked Gawain determined to talk to Morgause at all costs.
Morgause (played by Raider-jack29)

"Morgana, magic is inborn. It comes naturally, however it takes practice and teaching to bring these powers out. You were both born with immense power, so much so that its overwhelming to have you both within the same room. The only difference is that Taff had learned to harness his powers before the law was put in place. While you are only learning of yours now. Trust me when I say you are the most powerful sorcerers I have met in my own lifetime. Even greater than myself, and maybe Nimueh as well."
She spoke as she turned her horse to fallow Morgana.

"I'm sorry sire but the lady went out on a ride mere hours ago. She promised she'd return by supper though."
"What would you use magic for anyways? I have all what I need already. If anything is amiss I just have but to ask and the king will gift it or the servants will fetch it" admitted curious seeing no use or purpose to having such power since she was already a high born lady of good standing that lacked nothing she could desire or seek.

Nonetheless, she rode by Morgause following her, henceforth, keeping Taff at her side at all times, weary if fearful of the warlock. She did not consider herself one among them magic wielders but agreed least these two got angered and cursed her. Once they finally reached the fortress Morgana looked at Taff in a serious look and word of warning at that.

"Taff... you listen up and listen well... as I am occupying prince Merthyr's rank and post and he has entrusted me with his authority, I expect you to become my dutiful manservant and deliver all services as you would have delivered them to my betrothed. You are going to stay at my side and under my watch at all times. Perhaps, Camelot's ills are because of you" accused Morgana now blaming Taff for all the troubles since he had been confirmed to be a fearful sorcerer.

"I am sure queen Morgause already brought a maid of her trust to tend to all her needs. You, on the other hand, I don't trust you, how could you do this to us? to me, to Merthyr? How could lie, pretend and hide?" frowned Morgana clearly uncomfortable at the idea.

"One strange gesture, a single unusual object or a word out of ordinary I'll have you executed, am I clear?" frowned Morgana distrusting the boy who had once been her long standing good friend.

"Ah well in that case, I will wait for her here, she must return to these quarters sooner or later" nodded Gawain patiently, his determination unwavering

Lord Pentre came to keep the king company, a smile of relief to see the monarch recovering and resting.
"All is well your majesty... within reason" sighed the lord knight "I regret to inform you that the crown prince, is not so any more" briefly notified Tron

"Yes... I have been informed by my sister. I must thank you for saving Merthyr's life, despite our clear law for such crime, seems my son has much to learn yet" nodded Conrad leaning back down to rest some more, somewhat glad the day was coming to an end and he could have a proper sleep to lessen the drowsiness

Despite Lancelot being removed and Gawain choosing to leave, some of the knights like Lionel, Galahad and Tristan calmly continued to remain at the tavern, sharing the events of the day, a fire in a village that had damaged livestock, a reported missing child within Camelot city walls and the plague of locusts that had left no grain unscathed bringing in terrible famine across the entire realm.

Sir Lancelot was dragged to the dungeons and held briefly until Sir Mordred saw it fit to decide upon the knight's treatment and fate. They had been told of Mordred's higher position by lord Pentre himself who clearly favoured the knight and for the most part they had all grown to accept Mordred's authority alongside Pentre's
Morgause (played by Raider-jack29)

"Dear Morgana I was hoping it wouldn't come to this. But I refuse to sit and watch as my home land falls. After the tournament tomorrow I shall leave and make haste to Orkney."
"What troubles are there in Orkney?" quizzed Morgana surprised she would speak of the kingdom falling

"I would prefer you remained for a time, here, in Camelot, whilst the king recovers. Your remedies seem to soothe my nightmares" explained Morgana with a small warm smile
Mordred (played by Guingamor)

Taff couldn't help feeling immensely upset at the accusations Morgana leveled at him. Partly, he felt he had been foolish in waiting to see her reaction instead of immediately denying it. Partly, as well, he had hoped his good friend would trust him.

"I will do as you say, my lady," said Taff, unable to keep the hurt tone from his voice. To the rest of her words, he said nothing, as he knew he would begin to get teary if he tried to defend himself.

He followed dutifully after Morgana.

Mordred watched with interest the happenings of the tavern, from his position wearing his cloak.

Lancelot was certainly a knight of his word, and he couldn't help respecting that, despite his envy. Perhaps Merthyr could stand to learn a few things from him, he thought as he made his way back to his quarters in the castle.
Morgause (played by Raider-jack29)

"I was born here in Camelot, this is my home. No matter my efforts, the universe seems content on the worst happening. I refuse to watch my home burn."

(OOC: seriously man, this isn't a Greek tragedy lighten up please.)
Morgana nodded in understanding.

"Things were happier before king Conrad decree. Perhaps they will get better again soon" sighed Morgana warmly "Clearly Merthyr feels differently and one day he will be king, there shall be peace and laughter then" accepted Morgana with certainty.

Morgana raised an eyebrow at Gawain still waiting for Morgause despite the late hour. "Seems you have visitors... good night my lady, we will talk more soon about gifts" waved Morgana going to her rooms

_______

Gawain smiled broadly that Morgause had finally arrived keen to speak to her at once.

"Queen Morgause... can we please talk despite the late hour, mother?" Asked Gawain
"You... did... what?!" Gasped Conrad horrified mid conversation.

"That's the thing... I wasn't expecting queen Morgause to claim Merthyr under her auspices and protection" pointed out Tron Pentre. "The sentence was already dictated by then" informed lord Tron Pentre "The prince of Camelot admitted guilt and has been punished accordingly. Why should a visiting royal thwart out laws?" pointed out Pentre

"Have you ANY idea of what you've just done?! To harm the queen or any of her protegees is an open act of war... magic or not in the middle" gasped Conrad feeling sweaty at the thought of it

"She's demanded a tournament already" nodded Pentre starting to feel the heat of his rash and bitter decision

"Then you better make sure our champion wins, if we fail... Camelot surrenders, no less than if we had been raided and lost the war" barked Conrad angry
Morgause (played by Raider-jack29)

Morgause waved farewell to Morgana before approaching Gawain with a warm smile.
"My dear son, what brings you to your mothers chambers at this hour?"
Morgana left quickly bringing Taff with her.

"If you have always been a sorcerer, maybe you could heal Merthyr for me and keep us safe? I know I have always counted on you, if you have always had magic... I trusted you then, I am going to trust you now all the same, though I will admit I'm scared... what if... I am a sorcerer?" Sighed Morgana looking worried at Taff

"I am sorry I was too harsh on you earlier" apologized softly bringing Taff to Merthyr so the sorcerer could heal the prince

"Do what you can for Merthyr and king Conrad" petition Morgana "I know not how to heal" admitted Morgana

"Mother... I need your support in this hour of need. Hear me out, I never thought I'd say this but as your son, I am the crown prince of Orkney, thus I demand the right to be your champion at the tournament against Camelot.

Camelot has harmed a prisoner who was claimed by you under our protection and must be made to pay for this act of war, this betrayal of trust.

I will not waver or fail, I swear, my sword shall be steady. I am fighting for righteousness and the helpless that would otherwise perish" explained Gawain kneeling before her
Morgause (played by Raider-jack29)

"My dear son, I worry...for tomorrow you would go into combat against Lancelot. As your mother I am worried, but as the lady of the house I am proud. I do not wish you to die tomorrow though."
