"Well if they trust you I certainly do."
She noded twords nimueh as she spoke warmly.
"Though I must say I am suprised you know of the kings recovery already, seeing as he's just awoken. And I myself have been the only one to see him. I however regret to inform you that the king himself has a distaste for nimueh and does not trust her himself."
She spoke seemingly in regret as she sipped her wine.
" I am going on a ride this afternoon with lady Morgana and will require some assistance. I have been recommended the service of Taff. Seeing as the young man has a brief but shining history of good and almost comical service standards. I will have no other accompanying us."

"Well his majesty does not trust even his own son, I would not expect him to trust any castle staff" waved Pentre as a matter of fact
"He dared accuse Sir Mordred without proof and later the knight was found to be most righteous indeed. His majesty is merely weary and concerned for the kingdom's welfare a little ... in excess" excused Morgana
"My, my, I wasn't aware that king Conrad has recovered so promptly. This is the first I hear of it, yet I am gladdened, these are indeed great if surprising news. Seems you have indeed a talent for healing my lady Morgause, your reputation preceeds you, your highness." nodded Nimueh disregarding the distasteful comment.
"Uhmm... Taff... at your service... absolutely, right away. It is a very reasonable request and the least I could do after sentencing one of your protegees. Accept the boy's services as means of amends. Taff has been outstanding in Merthyr's service. He is trustworthy, resilient, loyal and dutiful, well trained and with a keen eye for detail. Mordred already has a slave to tend to his needs, he can dispense of the manservant Taff. Besides, I am sure with Taff at your service and company, nothing will go astray or amiss" granted Pentre right away, glad Morgause was willing to settle aside the fact that Merthyr had been whipped in spite of her extended protection.

"Though i must be honest, since I have called upon blood ties. I am honor bound to have one of my men. That are so tired, and sore to fight a knight of your choosing in a tournament. Though I assure you it's all in good sport, I have no ill intent. Meerly I am bound by my code as you are."
"Certainly, a queen's duty is to ensure any offence caused against your realm and household is indeed avenged by means of jousting or duel of choosing. The code of chivalry must be abided by and observed, by us all, at all times" yielded Pentre
"Have your men rest and recover, a tournament must be fair and even handed. They must gain their strength to match that of our valiant knights of Camelot. They can join our training sessions and make use of our training grounds and weaponry, all shall be at your disposal to ensure you the best possible outcome." insisted lord Tron Pentre
"In due course we shall appoint the two champions and see this matter through, honourably" nodded Pentre

It was at this moment that Mordred arrived, unfortunately late.
"My deepest apologies for my lateness," he said, bowing his head slightly. "I was preoccupied; I meant no offense."
Taff, behind him, glanced around the room.

She noded to acknowledge Mordred and Taff before returning her gaze to the lord."That seems fair of you my lord. Though I must ask, I have yet to see the food arrive and I am quite peckish."
She spoke warmly as she sipped her wine once more.
"So maid nimueh, I'm intrigued by you. Tell me more about yourself will you?"
She asked as she turned to address nimueh.
"After all you seem to know your way around a few cures and remedies yourself, and I'd so love to inquire as to some of your methods."

"Sir Mordred, your presence is most welcomed and required indeed." saluted Pentre welcoming his second in command. "Seems the king is recovering well, though he will need time to rest and recover strength for a while" commented Pentre
"The offended queen of Orkney has demanded Taff to be appointed at her service, right away. It is a very reasonable request and the least Camelot could do after damaging our allegiance and solid friendship by sentencing one of her personally nominated protegees, Merthyr, who has endured considerable harm, in compliance to our laws. She accepts the boy's services as means of amends as well as a tournament, of course. Taff has been outstanding in Merthyr's service. He is trustworthy, resilient, loyal and dutiful, well trained and with a keen eye for detail. I am sure with Taff at her service and company, nothing will go astray or amiss" granted Pentre more or less repeating the agreement for Taff's awareness.
"Nonetheless, we are honor bound to accept her challenge and appoint a knight, a champion, to duel in a tournament as the code of chivalry demands, where offense is caused to a noble household or kingdom... thus we will allow her knights, resting quarters, full use of our training grounds and the ability to join our training routine as well right away" granted Pentre being most honorable and just and fair where knightly matters were involved.
"What do you think sir Mordred, have you any knight in mind that could be a good enough candidate for our champion?" asked Pentre
Lady Morgana clapped her hands waving the servants to deliver the freshly cooked meal at once, sitting back interested just as much about Nimueh
"I use mostly traditional remedies, my lady, one must not underestimate the healing qualities of mixing herbs and minerals, for healing purposes of course" trailed off Nimueh vaguely
"Once cannot remedy all ills of course, death strikes at times, unfortunately, but such is nature's ways and course" mused Nimueh

"Well then maybe you could assist me, I found a very peculiar powder I believe to be a poison near your chambers as I passed. One with your expertise must know how to prevent such a poison from getting to anyone else. Do you know anyone else who may have access to these sorts of herbs, they must be stopped at once after all."
"A most reasonable request, of course." Mordred smiled as he took his seat.
Taff couldn't help feeling some relief at this; he had his doubts as to Mordred's character. He took his seat with the rest of the servants, giving them all a soft smile.
Mordred listened intently to the conversation. When the question was asked, he replied, "Well, I am sure we would be hard pressed to find a better knight of ours than Sir Lancelot." He felt a twinge of bitterness as he spoke.

Lord Tron Pentre looked up and smiled broadly at Mordred's suggestion
"Indeed an excellent choice. My lady Morgause, the champion shall be Lancelot du Lac" reported Pentre at once, making good on the challenge and demanded tournament

"Ah sir Lancelot, a fine choice indeed. Funny thing that boy is the elder brother of my darling maid Guinevere." She spoke fondly as she motioned to the maid who sat with the other servents.
Morgana looked concerned at the talk of poison. "Poison... my goodness..." gasped Morgana worriedly
"My ladies must be careful when handling such harmful substances, as are poisons and similar powders. We cannot have you fall ill from poisoning after all. If you know of its whereabouts I will gladly place myself in the line of danger to ensure the threat is removed.
As for it's origins it is very hard to determine who carried the poison in the first place, my lady. So many servants share the same limited number quarters it could have been anyone's. Worry not, though, those closest to the king were taken to the dungeons to be executed for poisoning the king. Perhaps they dropped the poison in their haste to dispose of the damning evidence" suggested Nimueh
"As you know, I am but a castle maid, I have no proper chambers like the high born damsels, us servants choose a spare cot at the servants quarters if there are any free at the time, else the stables have fresh hay, makes for a comfortable rest after a tiring day labouring" explained Nimueh with a simple smile

" rest well young maid, you've had a trifling day."
She spoke to nimueh as she nibbled on her food.

Morgana turned her attention at Mordred, placing her requests openly
"Sir Mordred if I may be so bold to ask, I would like to petition from your generosity that I may be given the right to visit your slave. As his master, I petition the ability to summon Merthyr to my presence and service or at least have the opportunity to observe him, keeping a respectful distance of course. I dare not interferre with what tasks you see fit to appoint him, but you must understand that he is my betrothed and, as a woman, I long for his company and presence.
I also request from your honor-bound hospitality that the slave be provided a healer to treat his terrible wounds" asked Morgana looking at Mordred
"Finally I insist he is removed from those inadequate, unhealthy dungeons and allowed to sleep in the servants quarters at the very least" pressed Morgana sipping wine
Nimueh nodded with a broad smile at Morgause comment
"It certainly has been a very challenging day" accepted the woman taking grapes to eat some

"I can see no problem with your petition, provided he is always under guard, Lady Morgana," said Mordred, "He has already paid for them, after all.
"As for your other requests, I shall permit him to sleep in the servants room in my quarters, as he is under my watch. And I feel he has already paid for his wounds, so I shall of course allow them to be sought to."
He found himself more curious about Lady Morgause; she seemed to be aware of the real events that occurred.

"Well I should be soon for our ride lady Morgana,Taff as well, I'll be ready within the hour."She spoke as she stood from the table. She then offered a curtsie and made to exit the dining hall.
She smiled at Taff and then ate, not wanting to speak as she doesn't like the spotlight. She sat there, enjoying the food, company, and banter. She looked around from time to time to make sure nothing was going on behind them. She heard of the conversation dealing with living quarters then shivered, she was one of the youngest so she got the last place to sleep, by a hearth on a mat.
"Amber, as my lady in waiting, you are to move to my rooms and henceforth sleep there. You may pick any dress of your liking too, a higher position requires indeed better attire. You can rest until my return. I am sure this valiant squire can keep watch over your safety in the mean time" appointed Morgana making way to her rooms and to quickly change into a better suited attire to accompany Morgause.
Morgana saluted the two knights and retired to her rooms, taking up knightly armour, regardless of king Conrad's disapproval, simply because she was using Merthyr's royal prerogatives to wear and use armour and weaponry as the crown prince would have done, regardless of the fact that she was a woman.
She came outside and grabbed her horse awaiting Taff and Morgause to join her. Whatever Morgause had to say was important if she felt the need to shorten the dinner over this unknown matter.

"Sir Mordred, please, visit Merthyr at once to check on his condition, a healed slave makes for a better servant after all" smiled Morgana thinly, doing her best to restrain her worry

Taff followed dutifully after Morgause, relieved to be her servant as opposed to Mordred's. Though he did his best to conceal it, he felt immense worry about Merthyr and the situation he was in.
He felt, though, that Morgause and Morgana were on Merthyr's side as well. Thus he was determined to do his best to help them.
Mordred nodded in agreement, and after finding a healer, began making his way towards the dungeons.

Morgana smiled widely when Taff and Morgause finally came, all too glad to have some freedom to speak and the ability to roam, disregarding the raised eye brows and stares she received given the fact that she was a woman, wearing armour and of the knights of Camelot no less.
Nimueh followed Mordred dutifully accompanying him to Merthyr's presence, though well aware of the prince's terrible condition
