replying like this doesn't send notifications. You won't get notifications in any forum topic unless you're subscribed to it, but then you'd be getting notifs for every post there, not just the ones that are replying to you.
Hit the subscribe button below chat, but like CrypticStardust warned, it may go off a lot. Sometimes the chat is dead for several days but other times it will get really busy. This is one you might be best off just checking in throughout the day.
