Like, I love providing some stuff for others to work through, but I don't want to have to run the whole thing.
Yeah in my stories I try to have at least one little story thread for each character, that way we can kinda pull on one or the other depending on who's feeling more "gm-like" for lack of a better term
Easiest to do by splitting the world up, if possible. If your character(s) is(are) from one place and the other person's is/are from another, try to travel between them if possible, or, for a sci-fi example, let worlds be one person's domain while space is the other's! Ports and sea are equivalent for less voidbound adventures.
It's legitimately a convo worth having at the start of a game

It does help a bit when I can be lazy and pull from other things instead of just trying to invent everything myself all the time, though. And a friend has been adoring my portrayal of D&D's Sharess, while she's depicted Lathander as kinda gay and very dad.
Like one example right now, we have the main story that brought the characters together, but both of them also have their own little things going on that can be given a focus at any time for whoever's feeling up to it at the time
Oooo, that's a good situation, Andy
Kinda vague but it's a good basic setup for keeping one person from doing all the hard work 😂 when they're taking the lead I can be plotting what wrench my own character's situation will be throwing into the mix
Folks I play with seem to enjoy having others put their character through the wringer. And I know that I get self-conscious if I feel like I'm making too much about my character.
See I like putting my own characters through the wringer, I'm much more hesitant to do it to other characters 😂
I know I have a habit, and I'm not sure if it's good or bad or just is, of writing my characters from an outside point of view especially if the other person writes theirs expressing inner thoughts. My brain goes "ah, they're the protag, write as supporting role from their PoV-ish"
Btw, I sent my walruses out on an 8+ hour cruise to fish for bones.
Boooones
Mine just got back from the dense fog with about 3 bones
Mine are on their way back with 10 more seeds
Mine are headed for seeds next!
I just put mine on a loop days ago and only altered it to change their ratios
They're good boys and can handle it

That is a fully valid way to play!
