I am biding my time, we had a short conversation with Rayne, and since recent events are going to get Pruvia into the focus, I am thinking about entering the game from there. After some extra details will be worked out.

Well Carmen had a letter sent of to Pruvia which is a treaty/marriage proposal and negotiations
Eli_Broady

I'll come up with the post then, and send it your way before posting, so we could discuss details. I am at work at the moment, I'll get back home in about seven hours.
RayneLillac Topic Starter

yeah we can discuss whats in the letter, an about your grand entrance haha
Sounds interesting. :)
I've had Bethesda's body removed from the King's room for continuity reasons (since it's gone by the time Carmen arrives via the secret passage). I guess it might rise up in the morgue or medical wing or wherever you guys feel the guards would take a body. I don't know how contagious the Drow's blood magic is, but the two guys dragging her out would not have taken any precautions so it's possible they're infected too (?)!
In the case of Bethesda, she was poisoned by blood magic. I know this was originally meant to be a secret (revealed later in the story), but now that the scene has ended, the secrecy has served its purpose allowing this event to transpire. So, blood magic... The drow practice blood magic. For anyone who is not familiar with the term, blood magic is a type of sorcery used by not only drow, but by necromancers, some warlocks and vampires too. Blood magic takes life from one thing and gives it to another. Vampires use blood magic to regain life and power from their dying victims. Necromancers use a living sacrifice to re-animate corpses and create monsters or golems... Faedkyn's party uses their own blood to create zombies. Drow's blood is pitch black, toxic to humans, and can be absorbed through the skin. By touching a wine pitcher tainted with drow's blood, Bethesda became infected, hence her veins turned black... Once infected, there are only a few ways to spread it - all of which involve bodily fluids (saliva, blood, urine, breastmilk, etc.) so as long as the morticians wear gloves, they should be fine. Unless she bites them. The disease will spread just like the plague. It must be dealt with immediately before it spreads. The good news is, it's not air-borne. So you don't need a mask. Instead all you need is fire... Fire kills it.

P.S. - Great posts btw! :)

Carmen just takes the contraption down like what is this garbage doing out again
Just a status update on myself:

I was going to respond today, and forgot that I'm going on a field trip to a college, which I forgot the name of!

Either, way, I'm excited.

The only thing I'm bummed out about is the not so great shirts we have to wear for the field trip, due to the elective I chose...

This is not the official timeline yet. We are still working on it. Some things may change. But this is just to give you all a background for now. We'll have an official timeline soon. :) We're also starting a new OOC thread in the near future which will include a lot more details about the Kingdom of Ash (Fantasy RP), with more accurate descriptions in a more organized way. :) it will help for recruiting new players, and make IC navigation easier in-game. But until then, just keep using this thread. I'll keep you updated. If you're slow to post because you're busy, don't worry. This is about to become a long-term RP.

P.S. - YumeAiri we miss you! Good luck to you. We await your return. :)

Clockwork and Calendar:
TIMELINE - The current year is 860 C.E. now one month after the death of King Estvikt and Prince Relbregh, the week of the Council Massacre.

560ce Cornilus the Conqueror
808ce Magnus is born
812ce Celia is born
834ce Magnus turns 26
834ce Celia turns 22
834ce Magnus marries Celia
835ce Relbregh is born
844ce Calvin is born
845ce Carmen is born
848ce Celia dies at 36
860ce Estvikt dies at 42
860ce Magnus turns 52
860ce Relbregh dies at 25

Ashendale uses a common lunasolar calendar with perfect calculations. Every lunar month has 5 weeks, each with 5 days. Every twelfth night is a full moon. Every sixth night is a half moon. Every first of the month is a blue moon. Every last of the month is a red moon. Every 150 days, no moon appears at all and darkness covers the land. There are 25 days in each lunar month. There are 12 months equalling 300 days per solar year. There are 12 solar hours per day, and exactly 12 lunar hours per night equalling 24 hours altogether.

Time is not linear in-game, and fluctuates with intros at the top of each player's posts stating the time, date and location with intros such as "Previously," "Meanwhile," and "Later that day," etc. The actual clock started when Rayne started advertising the RP, est. March 1st, (860 C.E. in this case) and since then notable events have occurred in-game. March 1st therefore marks the first day of the first month - the day of Prince Relbregh's death. The current time in-game is April 10th, 860 CE the day of the Council Massacre.

Human Races in Ashendale:
Nordir or pale skinned northern peoples
Blaumir or dark skinned southern peoples
Skraelir or red skinned eastern peoples
Heidinnir or pink skinned western peoples.

Resolving IC Battles:
There is no ruleset for resolving conflicts in this game. We prefer a more traditional freeform/paraform approach which stresses good conduct, appropriate netiquette and communication between players. We don't care what happens as long as you have fun and keep it fair to all players in-game. Please no metagaming, godmoding or autoing. But again, we follow an unwritten code of honor here so some things need not be explained.

Status Update - King Magnus is still bedridden. Prince Relbregh is dead, assassinated by Thraen Valour at his own palace. Vygoren Calygarn, leader of the Savage Knights (of which Thraen was a lord and member) who had once served Prince Relbregh, was appointed by Caspar Blackwood (the King's steward) to go 'rescue' Princess Carmen from Montra, where she secretly formed an alliance with Lord Grevious and his Pruvian army, attempting to save her father's kingdom. They were accompanied in Montra by Faize the warlock or war-mage. Faedkyn Hyllora, half-drow commander of the Night Watchers (drowish guards and assassins at Relbregh's Tower), reported news of Prince Relbregh's death to Lord Caspar, and is now secretly guarding Ashdown Castle and the royal family while preparing to go to war with Lord Grevious and the Pruvian army. As a plot twist, Faize placed a magic runestone (now in Drizzt the Drow's pocket) which cursed the Night Watchers, causing Faedkyn to delay his journey. Avery Fellwater, the King's private physician, has been secretly experimenting on King Magnus while he's been bedridden (but a spying Faedkyn would previously witness Avery's treachery as she ordered Bethesda to poison the princess). Meanwhile, Lucifer Errat the potion-maker appears in a comical scene with a chicken-like foul stuck to his head, while Baltimore the dwarf tries to help him get it removed. A young Prince Calvin got stuck in a tree, and was rescued by Johanna Mieadov the royal castle guard. After returning to the castle, Calvin and Lady Mieadov part ways (neither one realizing that they are being watched by a drow). Johanna, who turns out to be from a peasant family with husband and kids, humbly returns to her abode. Bethesda, one of the castle maids, slips poison into Carmen's wine. She fails to assassinate the princess, and instead poisons the council. At the same time, a drow (disguised as a kitchen maid) poisons Bethesda, counter-assassinating her. Bethesda dies in the king's chamber. Luciel Carjak has discovered vast amounts of gold(?) in Gullred Village and is building a mining company to gather its fortune. Carmen, Caspar and Vygoren are together when the council leaders fall over dead. All of them immediately suspect foul play, but they all have different opinions as to who the assassin is. Lord Caspar summons Dr. Avery, while Vygoren summons the maids after sterilizing the situation. Princess Carmen goes to the King's chamber to console her father King Magnus, who is still bedridden. Bethesda the maid has risen from the dead and is now wandering around the unsuspecting castle somewhere as a zombie. Vygoren calls for Faize the magician. 200 miles away in Kulrydale, the hero Thraen Valour has just reached Golden Village, but is suddenly knocked out by a group of farmers holding a wanted poster... And now you're up-to-date on what all has been happening IC in-game. We are still recruiting players so if anyone wants to join, feel free. If you're just joining or returning from hiatus, there ya go! You're all caught up.

great job, though im thinking of looking into some side rp keep me occupied while i wait for posts
Good job OG, very comprehensive.

On a completely different topic: what do you guys think about creating an RP group for the Kingdom of Ash? I'm a noob on this site and maybe there are a bunch of complications involved in making a group, but some of the groups I've seen look like mini-forums(does that sound about right?). My feeling is that our story and universe is growing so expansive that it's going to get harder to collate all of the information on just 1 or 2 threads, where they can get drowned under unrelated posts; if we used a group, we could fix important lore/story information in 'sticky' threads, easy to locate.

Another advantage to putting the universe onto a multi-thread platform could be that smaller, separate stories could then exist in tangent with the 'main storyline'. If we had a separate forum page dedicated to the KoA universe then we could still retain this main thread and use it to progress the bigger story-arcs. However if people wanted to indulge in smaller plots, whilst still playing a part in the larger universe, they would be able to do this; consider that these smaller posts could act as parts of an anthology, if you like. They could be set in the past, present, whenever and they'd allow for less-serious scenes that might not be suited to the current KoA thread. A lot of people like cutesy 'fluff' scenarios where their favourite characters can just do mundane stuff like bake cakes, fight duels, fall in love, etc. This should also alleviate the problem of waiting for other players to post, as characters could partake in several stories simultaneously (provided that the stories were all set in differing times IC).

I worry that currently, any prospective player that likes the sound of KoA will look into the IC thread and immediately feel intimidated by the sheer amount of content that has already gone down. If we could break it up and provide a space for bite-size RP 'chunks' then they could try their characters out in a few casual scenes and 'get to know them', before making an entrance into the grand game itself!

This is just a suggestion but I'm interest to know what you guys think
I don't know much about groups. I'm also still newish to the site myself. I actually just found out recently that RPRepository has an OOC chat. Only took me a month to realize lol. But I really like this idea. I'm all for it if you all are.
RayneLillac Topic Starter

i'm not sure how but i can look into making a group tomorrow
I'm working on a post now. It's pretty good, I think. You guys will like it too I think. I hope lol. :)

I wasn't sure who to post as really, so I just posted as Faedkyn since that's who I started with.
Eli_Broady

First post out. Hopefuly it didn't break the flow of the game.
I also made slight adjustments to the character - changed the name and increases his age, but that shouldn't be much of a problem for a game at this stage.
Skipbab wants to inform you guys that he got suspended from posting for a week. You guys, I've said this before but I'll say it again. Watch the F-bombs. We are an awesome group. WE are very laid back. But the site has rules to follow and there are legal matters they must obey. So we have to keep this semi-PG13ish, to a point at least. So anyways, Skip is banned for a week. But he will be back. Just wanted to let you guys know. :)

P.S. - Great posts! <3
