Forums » Introductions » Hello!

Hi, my name is Dunerider and I'm new to this site. That being said I'm not new to roleplaying, as I have been roleplaying off-and-on for almost a decade now.

Most of the time I enjoy fantasy or sci-fi based plots, or anything that I can't experience in my day-to-day life. (I'm not a huge fan of slice-of-life modern roleplays for that reason). My muse can be a bit finicky at times, and that causes me to lose touch with some of the characters and worlds that I've roleplayed in before. I'm trying to reign in my muse a bit better so I can once again roleplay for extended periods of time without having any awkward pauses between posts.

I hope to have fun writing with everyone.

Welcome to RPR!

A friend and I have actually managed to work something out to help keep things going. We stick to relatively short, focused games, run like chapters in a book. When one ends, we decide if we want to start a new chapter, switch to a different story for a bit, or just take a break. As a result, we've ended up having multiple families develop, adding a new dimension to the adventures they go through!

That actually sounds like it could be a good idea. I have pretty bad ADHD and I always figured that was part of the reason that my muse can get the better of me. But if I were to focus in on short run games instead of planning for the long run I actually might get more done.

You've given me a bit to think on. :)
Hello and welcome to the site! I hope you're enjoying yourself so far :) I have the same problem as you with the muse thing, especially with characters. I tend to get super excited while creating them and be so eager to use them but then usually I never do and end up deleting them XD So you're not alone!

Thank you!

Yes that's exactly my problem as well. That and I'll get incredibly hyped for a plot/thread, and pour in a lot of effort into it for the first few days and then slowly drift away. I need to learn how to balance my enthusiasm better. But it's nice to know that I'm not alone.

Me too! Yes it is. Usually I think I'm the only one struggling something so it definitely nice to find someone with the same problem.
Welcome to the site! If you don't mind me asking, how did you come up with your username? There's sometimes interesting stories behind these things.
