Audacious Phoenix Bake Sale Begins

The Audacious Phoenix Bake Sale has begun! This is a fundraiser to support the rebuild and modernization of the RPR. We need your help!

Most of these items' price points are set to represent certain contribution levels to the fundraiser, and function as cute profile decoration to display and trade and show off how you've helped the site. :)

I mean seriously, look at how stinking cute these icons are:

Cinnamon Sticks Rich Cupcake Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake Chocolate Chip Cookie Raspberry Thumbprint Cookie Cup of Tea Ice Cream Sundae Bacon

However, the Sundaes will give a year of deeply discounted Epicness to anyone who is lucky enough to eat one!

Don't want any of these things, but still want to support the RPR? You can simply pick an amount to contribute directly. :) Scroll to the bottom of the bake sale shop page in order to do that.
Anyone who contributes ANY amount will be invited to help beta test the new site before it is released, and will get early access to in-progress screenshots before non-backers.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! The amount you spend on these special items or contribute directly will count toward your backer total, which will let you earn even more goodies!

Backer rewards include:
  • a real life Operation Audacious Phoenix mission patch
  • an RPR pen set
  • an RPR mouse pad
  • an RPR totebag with a limited edition Audacious Phoenix design

The threshold for how much you need to contribute to earn these things vary depending on where you are in the world - you'll have to cross your shipping cost threshold first. ;) You can set your shipping address for backer rewards here.

So, for example, if you're in the USA shipping zone and you bought two sundaes, you could get 2 years of Epicness plus all of the above.

My Super Unbelievably Audacious goal? With your support, I'm going to try to complete all outstanding programming for RPR 2.0 in 100 days. Wait, 100 days? 100 days. 100 DAYS!!!

This is, frankly, crazy, and I don't even entirely know if it's possible, but I'm dedicating myself to either achieving it or getting as close as humanly possible. We need to raise at least $3,000 to get us within striking distance of that goal, but $5,000 would make it much more likely.

If it's within your financial means to support the RPR right now, please hit up the bake sale! :D The bake sale is currently scheduled to last 45 days.

Love you all! Thank you so very much for everything you do for the site. <3

OMG! I got the Phoenix colors all first try! XD

Just feed them cinnamon sticks, for anyone who does not know! Random color chance per feed!

@Abigail_Austin - During beta testing, I will make a copy of the site onto a separate server, and then upgrade that second version of the site. I will send backers the link to the testing version. You'll be able to try out all the new things in safety, knowing that if something is broken, it can't damage any of your "real" data. You can use the current site normally, without beta testing impacting it at all. :)

Beta testing will consist of as much or as little as you like - perhaps you'll just take a quick look around and experience the new features, then return to the original site. Perhaps you'll decide to knuckle down and try your hardest to break the new features so you can send me bug reports. It's up to you! :)

Also, beta testing would basically be 'try out all the features and let Kim know with a bug report if you run into any issues'. It'll be important to try and replicate the issue before you report it to make sure it's an issue and not a hiccup on your device or connection, write down the steps you took to make the issue appear, take screenshots if you can, and also let Kim know what you expected to happen.

That last part can be really important to help make features more intuitive, by the way. :) It also helps Kim help you faster in terms of getting things sorted out.

When I hit my first 100 accolades, I wrote an article on bug hunting. It might be really helpful for beta testers who haven't really done this kind of testing before. :)

@Abigail_Austin: I'm not speaking on behalf of Kim here, but I strongly suspect that the rebuild will be hosted on a separate area of the site where we get to frolic. ;) I would be very surprised if she forced people to stick to one version only, especially when that version is expected to be buggy!

Question -- if we beta test the RpR 2.0 can we go back and forth between the new and old versions until the official release date? What would beta testing it consist of?

I know the income is going to slow down, but uh... Might need to set some bigger stretch goals. XD

Maybe an extra few thousand, Kim takes a much-deserved vacation? ;)
