The Beginning of Time

The sun stands high on a blue sky behind a thin layer of white clouds. Even with the sun hidden behind a curtain, the heat is almost unbearable for the people who have dared leave their houses and walk the streets. The walkways between skyscrapers are rivers of sunglasses and shorts with hands filled with heavy, candycolored bags that moves between stores and cafés. Outside cities are the beaches turned to volleyballfields and the waters are a rainbow of swimsuits. On the flatlands stand the fields golden and wave in gentle winds, among the green grass with sleepy animals staying in the shades of tall trees. Summer is hot in year 2017, but the people do their best to get the most out of it.
However, the unpredictable always happens when you least expect it, as people stop and point to the sky as small blue lights float under the clouds from the ocean. Whispers in awe and fear sweep like a breeze across the lips of the masses, as they watch the blue lights gently fall to the ground like blue snowflakes.
Noone is prepared for the loud screeches, as the lights finally touch the ground, sending long fingers of lightning across the skies, turning them from babyblue to pitch black, as the light is drained from the sun itself. Thunder rolls over billions of pale faces, as ears are covered by shaking hands. Shivers run down the spines of the people as they watch in horror how darkness sprout from what would have been the center of the glowing blue lights, the blue is twisted in shapes of ragged teeth around a void. The fangs continue to grow rapidly in a matter of moments, until the first person is swallowed by the darkness. People run in fear, as more are dragged to their presumed deaths, leaving only the trails from hands grasping and clawing anything they can in an attempt to hold onto their very existence.
Screams Echo accros the globe on the day that will be remembered as The day of the Rifts.

The Introduction

The sky is darkened with a heavy blanket of grey clouds. The entire world is holding its breath as the strange beings awaken from their passed out state aquired by being dragged through time and space. Each being awakens in a different part of the world, but all within a set range of a certain ritual that shock the world itself. No being from this world has yet discovered the cause of their uneasy feelings, but this day, they all knew that something had changed;

Rules and guidelines
- The site's rules apply here too.
- I am your host, so this will follow my additional rules. Please accept and respect this.
- Speech is markced with "speech" - to make sure everone knows what is said.
- OOC is marked with (OOC) - this should not need to be explained further.
- Other ways of speaking and thoughts are marked however you please (this may change if it is too confusing).
- Speaking another language is marked with "speech"(language) language note only needs to be added once per message unless the language changes withing the post. Upon returning to the common language, the italic is simply removed.
- No killing a character unless the player(OOC) has agreed upon this result. There is no revival.

Edits and add-ons
- I can be asked to take the role of a temporary NPC, but will retain the option to decline this. I encourage you to do your best to take this role yourself.

23rd aug.

- Please keep in mind you yourself is responsible for your characters interactions and your own enjoyment. I am mainly here for big plots and lore. I will not interfere more than you, as the players, wish and need.
11th oct.

- Everyone is allowed to create an NPC, this does not have to go through an application.
- An NPC created can be used by everyone, but ask the original creater if this is ok with them.
- When using an NPC created by another, do your best to keep the NPC IC (do not change the race, job, personality ect.)
14th oct.

- Each character is max allowed 2 replies before another group posts. - this means a group of two characters is max allowed 4 posts in total before another group must post something(lets say Lily and Luna are arguing in the streets and they have hit their 4 limit post. Then the players of Luna and Lily must wait till Olaf finish his mug of ale in the tavern or Loran arrest the thief, before they can post again.)
- Posts must be as long as possible without needing to control the other persons character - there has been too many short posts.
- It is never allowed to decide the outcome of a fight (or anything else) by taking control of another persons character, unless this has been decided beforehand and clearly stated in the post. (These agreements must be taken over PM or other media - not the forum!)
- If a character has any weapons or tools they are going to use in a fight, they must have been described at least one message prior. We do not want any hidden daggers suddenly appearing as if the wielder did not know of them till the second they were needed.

Maxwell Rockfield (played by Ignie)

Maxwell opened his eyes, but he closed them immediatly after, regretting this decision. His head was hurting him so much it was almost unbearable.

He stayed like this, lying down on the ground during a few minutes, waiting for the headache to dissappear. When it was gone, he slowly opened his eyes, not moving an inche, probably waiting for something to happen.

He pricked up his ear, trying to know if people or anything were around him. But only silence answered him.

Even if Maxwell was used to silence, and even liked it, this silence was... disturbing. It wasn't sounding... Normal.

After checking nobody was around, the man slowly stood up, and looked around him, making him more confused than before. This...

This was not his home. Where are the buildings, the crowd? Where...

Where was Ezekiel?

A feeling of panic began to crawl on Maxwell's back. Ezekiel was with him a few seconds before... But here, he was alone. This was a foreign place for probably both of them. They needed to be together, just in case. This place may be as silent as death, this doesn't mean it was safer. Maxwell even learned this was more dangerous.

"Ezekiel!" He screamed. "Where are you?"

But nobody answered him. The man bite his lip. This was not good, he needed to find his friend as soon as possible. His survival instinct were ringing, warning him this place was anything but a friendly one.

He looked at him. He was still wearing the clothes he had before he passed out. His hand touched his hip and he smiled. His precious gun was still here. Maxwell took it out and checked the gun. It was still full of ammo, but this wasn't a reason to waste them uselessely. If he, and Ezekiel, were to survive here for a few days, or more, he'll need to build some weapons. He'll do this after he'll find her. He looked around one more time, just to see if there was not any danger, and he started walking, looking for any kind of living being.

((OOC: As in the introduction, the characters are waking up, i supposed Maxwell doesn't know about Ezekiel's fate. So he just think she is still alive, when she isn't. I hope this is okay. Otherwise, i'll ignore this fact. Oh, and if there is anything bad about that post, just say it, i'll make the changes. :) ))

Delastarh Nagahoshi (played by AkuaNoMizu)

Delastarh groaned as he opened his eyes. He stared at the sky for a moment, processing his thoughts. After a while, he noticed the weight on his body. Using his elbows, he slightly straightened up. It was Metaralis, still unconscious.

Now he remembered! The lightening, the thunder, the rift! Meta had been caught by the void, and he had grabbed the shorter man, but it only resulted with him being pulled in at the same time. Putting a hand on Meta's head, De looked around. They were not dead, but they were not home neither.

The long haired man started to wake up, lifting his head and looking at Delastarh. "Wh... What happened?" he asked, as confuse as the other.

"I don't know," the taller man said, letting Meta go. "We are... somewhere."

Metaralis sat up, still on De's knees, and looked around. "At least, we are not dead."

Delastarh chuckled. "That's what I was thinking." The smiled disappeared from the tall man's face. "We better try to find someone. We can't be all alone around here."

The short man stood up, followed by the other. They stayed there, trying to figure out where to go.
Darkness. It's all there was surrounding Nina's conscience. Silence. The air was dry. Her mouth was nearly void of moisture. It wasn't until she realized the cold ground beneath her, chilling her bones, that her mind began to put pieces together. She wasn't inside. There wasn't a bed cushioning her body. She was vulnerable and someplace unknown. She had to wake up, now.

It was the slow sensation of something warm running over her upper lip and dripping off her right cheek that awoke her. Her eyes fluttered open, immediately gazing into a sunset and overcast of clouds looming over what she could only assume were rock formations at first glance, but that didn't seem so urgent. Pushing herself up, Nina sat a little on her side before she felt something drip off her face once more. This time, from her nose. Her eyes cast down to a rock just under her, dotted with a single drop off blood, then a second and a third. That very instant, it dawned on her. Quickly, she sat herself up straight and lifted her right hand up to pinch her nose right at the bridge, just below the bone. "Shit..." she cursed softly to herself before looking around just where she was sitting. To her relief, her bag was with her, just above where her head had been resting. To her right side, her rifle, still in one piece.

Nina reached for her bag, grabbing it by the straps to drag it to her left side. Using the same hand, she unfastened it's main pocket and reached inside. With a hankerchief in the forefront of her thoughts, her fingers immediately clasped onto one that had suddenly manifested into hand and pulled it from her bag. Without giving another drop of blood the chance to fall, she held it against her nose. With that issue set aside for the time being, she was finally given the chance to look around to assess just where exactly she had ended up. "What in the hell?...am I in a desert?" She asked herself in a tone of disbelief, a partial scowl overtaking her face. "Ugh...such a pain.." she groaned, then shuffling onto her knees to stand up, grabbing her bag and hiking it up on her right shoulder. Once secured on her back, she bent over to grab her rifle and sling it around her left shoulder. Standing up straight, she turned herself in place to survey the rest of her surroundings. To her relief, there was a road in the distance..Without questioning, she made her way to the road. Unable to see any signs, she picked a direction and followed it. Hopefully, it would lead her...somewhere that wouldn't be out to kill her. Her nose ceased bleeding after a few minutes..
Katherine (played by Liannah2)

Katherine was out on her daily stroll. She was always told that it was too dangerous to go out alone, but she always pointed out that there was never any danger to worry about.

She decided to go through the forest this time around, as it always got more enchanting with each visit.

She sat herself in a patch of grass to rest for a bit. The wind was blowing gently, giving the area a calming feeling.

Once again, the forest was always enchanting.
Maxwell Rockfield (played by Ignie)

Hours. It's been hours since Maxwell woke up in this foreign place and was walking straight ahead, hoping he could find someone, a town, a village, even one person that could tell him where the hell he was.

He was walking in a forest and still, nothing. No humans, no animals (he could hunt them if he found some, that'd be his meal.) While looking around, Maxwell thought this place was similar to tales he read in his spare time, taking place in a Forest called Brocéliance, with a king and a wizard named Arthur and Merlin.

He never read that much until recently. Actually it was Ezekiel that introduced him into fantasy and fairy tails. Those kind of books were not useful for his profesionnal life, but if it pleased her, he could do some efforts. Those tales were actually kind of relaxing, it changed from what he usually read.

He stopped. He did some research, and Brocéliande was an actual place on France. Could it be that he was here? But how did he even got here in the first place, away from home, and how didn't he notice anything? That was so illogical.

He heard something and quickly, pulled out his gun and pointed it toward the sound. He stayed silent for a few seconds, waiting for something to happen, instead of uselessly shooting and wasting an ammo. As nothing happened, he raised an elbow. Perhaps he heard some animals, or maybe, someone that could lead him to the nearest town... or even...
"Ezekiel?" He asked carefully, "Is that you?"
He waited for an answer, and as no one answered him, he sighed and put his gun back in its case. His stomach mades him remember he hasn't ate anything in hours, and thay it was time to hunt some meal or gather some plants... if they weren't poisonous.
Delastarh Nagahoshi (played by AkuaNoMizu)

The two men were walking through the forest for a while, now. But they only found more trees, and no sight of life. Frustration was starting to grow, especially for Delastarh that was waving his cellphone around.

"Come on. Come on! I need a signal!"

Meta sighed, rolling his eyes. "You won't get anything. We are in the middle of a forest!"

"Well do you have a better idea?" De growled.

"We should probably look for a shelter before it gets dark."

"Great. Sleeping in a forest with no survival kit," the taller man snorted.

"We don't really have a choice. If we can't find a town or something, we better get ready."

"Yeah. But I don't know how we are going to hunt without a weapon." De smirked. "Well, maybe I could kill a deer with my bare hands!"

"Shh!"

The tall man rolled his eyes. "I was joking."

"No, I mean... I think I heard someone."

"Really?! Where?"

"It was faint. I think they were calling for someone?"

"Come on, if there's someone around here we gotta find them!" De said, starting to run in the direction Meta indicated.

The shorter man wanted to say something, but decided against it and just followed the other toward the sound.
Katherine (played by Liannah2)

The sound of distant talking grabbed Katherine's attention, but she only got up to look around her area before sitting back down.

"Probably just hikers," She murmured to herself as she began to wrap a blade of grass around her finger.
Maxwell Rockfield (played by Ignie)

Maxwell was silently gathering brushwoods in order to make a fire when the forest will become darker tonight when he heard a noise again, but this time, it was different... Were those footsteps?!
But the intervals between them was short, very short like... running? And the sound was getting louder and louder.

Maxwell's instincts were ringing. Someone was running toward him, and it wasn't probably friendly.

Leaving his brushwoods were they were, he quickly hid behind a tree, pulled out his gun and waited.

The sound was getting louder and Maxwell closed his eye. He needed to concentrate, to have the right timing, to know which side this person, or whatever it was, will be coming...

Now.

The black-haired man turned around, his gun loading while making a click-sound, confirming it.
"FREEZE." He screamed toward his opponent.
The man obeyed, froze from surprise, and Maxwell was glad he pointed his gun at him.

He was way taller than him, and muscular too. Maxwell would give him a height between 6'2 and 6'4 at first sight. He had blue hair, weird, Maxwell thought to himself, and blue eyes.

The black-haired man analysed him. He wasn't looking like an immediate threat, and he was not worth an ammo.

"Who are you?" He said in a cold voice, "You'd better answer me."
Traveling south down the near sand coated road, Nina fussed with her bag in attempt to put her handkerchief away. It took her a few seconds, but she managed to get it as well as grab her waterskin. She quickly undid the cap and splashed a bit of water onto her tongue, just enough to wet the inside of her mouth before fastening it onto her belt. After all, she didn't know how long she was going to be walking in this desert. Thankfully, it was approaching night, so it was at least going to be cool and she had more than enough to make sure she didn't get cold. So, as long as she kept moving, she should be fine.

A little further ways down the road, she eventually came across a sign. "Hmm? Oh finally, now I might be able to see where I am exactly.." she says aloud to herself before picking up her stride to approach the waymark. Once closer, Nina quickly looked it over. It was definitely a road sign, marked by it's overall blue background and printed on it was..."Phoenix? Ten miles..." she read aloud, stepping back from the sign then to look about her immediate surroundings once more. There was, nothing. Not even a single vehicle making it's way into the city. Strange...Did those blue lights rip everyone from existence? If so, why was she spared and sent here of all places? None of that was going to be answered standing around, she had to keep moving towards the city. Hell, if it was still there..

Walking back onto the road, she kept her eyes sharp and her ears alert to anything and everything around her at all times as she moved along. Who knew, perhaps she'd stumble upon something on the way that might give her a more prominent idea as to what is happening here. For as far as she knew, she was alone.
Delastarh Nagahoshi (played by AkuaNoMizu)

Delastarh raised his hands slowly in sign of peace, watching the man that was now pointing a gun at his face. It wasn't the first time that he had a gun pointed at him. He just neededd to stay calm and buy a little more time.

"H-hey, buddy, it's ok! You can put this down! My name is Delastarh, and..."

From the corner of his eyes, De saw Metaralis arriving. The long-haired man stopped dead in his track when he saw the gun pointed at his friend. The other man didn't seem to have seen him coming with this eye-patch. In the blink of an eye, Meta quickly crouched, grabbed a pebble, and launched it at the man holding the gun. The tiny rock struck him right in the side of the head. The man cried at the sudden pain, destabilizing him enough for Delastarh to act.

The taller man jumped out of the gun's trajectory before tackling his assailant to the ground. He grabbed the gun, and threw it farther away. Good thing they were mercenaries used to deal with those kind of situations.

"That wasn't very friendly, you know?" De said as Meta walked to them, arms crossed. "Now, who are you?"

Thank you for letting us know! I was just fearing it was already turning into a war between OOC players ^w^

Alright, good. I was hoping that was the case. Cant tell you how many times I have witnessed this being an issue.
Simon Haydn (played by Thekaleidoscope)

Crash!

The body slammed into the ground, having been unceremoniously dumped from a blue glowing rift. in such a way that it seemed to deliberately throw him into the most painful way possible. He was slammed through several tree branches before his body was halted on its downwards path by solid ground.

Fear prevailed in his mind, not even allowing the sudden return of the senses and pain that it brought with it to be felt for a few seconds. The portal had consumed him, the portal that had taken every family member then come for him. What was it about him that they hated so much? Couldn't they just leave him alone? Obviously not. He didn't even consider it some form of natural phenomenon, it had tormented him so regularly, that he considered some form of a sadistic entity was toying with him.

This line of thinking was interrupted by the return of the senses. Pain racked his body, running down the small cuts made by the branches and into the large bruise on his left arm where he had hit the ground.

"DAMN!" He furiously yelled out the word, though he was surprised when it sounded so muffled to his ears. Not only had this entity not had the courtesy to just kill him outright it had purposefully wounded him. Probably to watch him suffer more. For all, he cared it could rot in whatever hell awaited it and that couldn't come too soon.

Finally, he pushed himself up against the tree and took stock of what he had been left with. Then he remembered. It just had to take him at this time... didn't it. Just when he had decided to go to a steampunk convention too. Well, now he just looked ridiculous. Though he was glad that at least the armour on it was real, it had saved him some more cuts along his left arm and chest. For a few minutes, he just sat there back against a tree resting and recovering.

His full clothing was a redcoat uniform with bronze light plate armour over his chest and left arm. White trousers with light bronze shin guards and to top it all off he was wearing a white pith helmet with a golden badge pinned to the front. Lying next to him was the officers' sabre he had purchased not two days ago specifically for this and a functioning but completely devoid of ammunition Mauser rifle. Convention rules forbade him bringing any.
Maxwell Rockfield (played by Ignie)

((Once again so sorry we haven't made a note saying that we planned it. We'll remember that if something similar were to happen, we'll make a note so there will be no confusion :) ))

The pain caused by the pebble was sudden. But enough for Maxwell to be distracted. Soon, he found himself knocked down on the ground by the man he was earlier pointing his gun at. He tried to reach for his weapon but he saw it being put away from reach and sighed.

"A partner." He said, almost laughing, "you had a partner." He should have been more careful, he never made any mistake before. That's why he was the best at his job.

Well until now at least.

He started laughing mechanically. How could he have been so careless and been trapped like that? He looked at the shorter man and glared at him. If looks could kill, Maxwell would be the best at this.

He spat on the ground, next to the shorter man's shoes.
"Why would i tell you? I'm not your friend, anyway. I don't have time for your crap. Could you please be gentle and let me go." He said, looking at the taller man.
