This is the official thread for Epic Week 2016 adventurers to discuss battling their way to the forest guardians!

For your adventuring convenience, here is the link to the field of battle: http://www.rprepository.com/events/epicweek2016/forest.php

This is a multiplayer game. Almost every monster is too strong for a solo warrior to defeat -- you'll need to coordinate with your friends and other warriors to make sure you all attack the same monster at once.

There's a new round every 5 minutes. Your stamina and (most) monster HP resets to full at the beginning of every round. Team up to defeat harder monsters before the round ends!

Monsters frequently spawn in the burnt remains of Forum Forest, preventing access to the slumbering forest guardians.

The slumbering forest guardians can only be awoken by activating all 10 "seals" carved into their bark. Therefore, warriors may wish to coordinate with those in the Riddle topic to clear the way only when the Riddle team thinks they have an answer to a guardian's seal figured out and need to try it.
Blue opponent = ray gun. Red(pink for arachnophobic users) = axe. Green = rapier.

Hello everyone, first thing I'll post up here is weapon damage/attack modifiers/crit info/other info on weapons.

Rapiers come in with a +3 to attack and a 2 damage bonus. They roll a 1d8 for damage. These are best used against those minor nuisances such as greens. 18 is their crit threshold making them easier to crit with than an axe but axes are easier to damage with and have a higher multiplier. They have 40 uses when first gotten.

Axes clock in with a +5 to attack and a 3 damage bonus. They roll 2d8 for their damage rolls. Axes are best used against moderate nuisances such as the red coded enemies. Their crit threshold is higher at 20 but if you crit your damage will be multiplied by 3 making axes my personal favorite weapon of the items. *I get more of them than rayguns so I haven't had much experience with rayguns.* They have 50 starting uses then they break.

Rayguns, the most powerful multi-use weapon. I don't get these much, use them on blues when you get them as they are the only things strong enough to chip down their defenses quickly besides grenades. They 20 uses on them. +5 to attack and a 4 damage bonus. They roll 3d8. their crit multiplier is 3 and the threshold is 19.

This year's rundown comes with a poison mechanic, a blight mechanic and a seed mechanic. You'll be wanting to plant seeds to get medicinal plants when you can and kill the Kudzu plant monsters when you can to keep them from eating seeds. Goblin ghosts seem to be the weakest of the ghosts followed by kudzus then spiders.*green red blue in color order*

Poison gives you minus 2 on your attack roll so if you have an axe and use it. Your roll comes out with a +5-2.
Poison also adds a +2 to the opponents attack roll so if they have a +5 to theirs already their roll comes out as +5+2.

Blight stops you from regenerating health every five minutes.

If blighted or poisoned the only way to heal it is to use a medicinal plant.

Our order of importance for clearing should still be Kudzu as they eat seeds, then what ever the riddle team needs given we have the weapons to clear that side.

Like last year you get 5 health per 5 minutes.

AHHHHH I'M READY. Glad to see that the weapons from last year can be used again!

YEAAAH CHAAARGE

We've got a clear path to the fantasy forest guardian already! :D
Can't tell for sure yet if it'll be useful again this year, but I've made some minimal updates to the armory group from last year. :)

Oh, ghostly goblins! Getting poked and slashed and blown to bits last year weren't enough for you? I think it's high time you all had another long nap, ha-haaaa.

I'm glad these axes and rayguns from last year seem to have some ghost-touch properties. Punching ghosts is not appealing.
Point me and let me at 'em. how do we fight them again?

If there are goblins in front of the portals (or other monsters, I s'pose), you can click on them to engage them in battle. Either select your fists to punch them, or pick a weapon if you've happened to have one dropped on you to do some damage. Different weapons will usually have varying effectiveness on different breeds of monsters. You only get so many swings before you either get tired or run out of HP for a bit, however!

You are quite welcome! Go give those ghosties what-for, brave wanderer!
I'll be clawing my way at the first Ghostly Goblin, if anyone wishes to join my nasty uppercuts and body hits~

Hrrrm. Forrrr what it's worth, I think the beasties regenerate after every five minutes or so. It may be worth setting up a co-ordinated attack when the riddle-solvers have a few answers ready to try on the guardians, rather than blow through a bunch of weaponry when there's nothing ready to solve.

Of course, if you just need to work out some aggression, don't let me stop you, haha. :p

This is a thing which is true.
Indeed, they regenerate more than I can damage them. If we time our attacks, however, these spooky spooks should go down easily enough.

I'm going to be at my parents' for a few hours in a little bit (RPR's birthday just so happens to be my dad's birthday too!) but after that I can help fight baddies and acquire new weapons. I have two laser guns and a rapier to help take them down quickly. Can we check out the riddle topic and see if there are any guesses we can try for a specific guardian?
