Hi there! I created an account a while back but have only just now decided to start actively using the site. How long has everyone been on here for? I've always kept my internet presence rather small, so posting in forums tends to be rather intimidating to me, but I'm trying to get over that so I can find a nice roleplaying home here. Anyone have any tips on using this site or advice that they wish they would have known when first joining? I'm not new to roleplaying itself, just to the site.
Hello, and welcome to RPR!

I hope you enjoy your stay here. I've been here just over a month myself. To help you out, I've compiled a list of some useful links to get you started. Don't worry, you can take your time and browse them at your own convenience.

Forum Rules
This should be your first step. Make sure you know the rules of what things are and aren't allowed. They're pretty simple to follow and are there to make sure everyone has the best time possible.

New to Roleplay?
This will explain what roleplay is, and some of the basics to help you understand it better.

Getting started
Explains what RPR is, how to create a character, and how to find an RP to join.

Character Creation Guide
This goes into more depth on how to create and edit a character profile.

Creating Kickbutt Character Profiles
This will give you tips on how to spice up your character profiles to attract more potential RP parterners.

Find RP
If you already have a character created, this is where you can go to seek out an RP to join in.

Looking for RP
If you have an idea for your own RP and want to find someone to join it, this is the place to post. Try to add as much information as possible so your potential RP partners know exactly what you're looking for.

Help Database
There are plenty of other very helpful articles here that I didn't link. When you have time, have a browse through it to see if there's something else you think might be of use to you.

If you have any questions about anything, don't hesitate to ask! Everyone here is very friendly and will help as much as possible, so don't be shy! I hope you have a wonderful time here and find tons of amazing people to create awesome stories with. :)

Welcome back to RPR!!
You know I didnt really enjoy posting in large forums or anything either but this site just feels different because its a much smaller and tightly knit community of people who you will end up knowing kinda well as they seem to post on nearly every forum and youll see their names crop up every now and then haha. If you want some advice I just want to say make good use of the Find Rp tool and make a good effort to have a good Character profile built when you make a page for your character. I say that because a lot of people (kinda myself included, I just hope that doesnt make a jerk) may look at your characters page and if all they see is a short basic list and a quick history that was summed up in a few sentences, they may be less likely to rp if they are looking for someone who can give more then short respones. You should put as much effort into making your character as you would in your RP responses because that gives people a good gauge of what to expect from you.

Another thing I wish I knew when I started, is that your RPs dont have to be held in a open forum or group, you can always rp through private messages, which is my preferred way, or ask to take the rp somewhere else like on Discord.

Hi and welcome to the RPR! I joined the RPR in 2012, but I've been really roleplaying since 1999 when I was a little nugget. :> Forums are definitely intimidating, but they are such a good resource for locating new partners and friends! Posting your introduction is a great start, at least! I have to echo some of the other post(s) that mention the Find RP tool--it's a great tool for facilitating new roleplays or locating new scenes.

Officially a bit over three years, but wasn’t active for roughly six months. Didn’t get heavily into RPR the first three months I was here and went elsewhere on the interwebz for three months last year. This is the best character RP site there is!

I would have benefitted from a nice links post when I got here like the one Arekkusu gave you. Advice would be to spend the minutes looking over all the links and get familiar with the site control-stick. My only tip is to use the character slots in all the ways they can be used. You can do a lot with them five pages and widgets!
