Hi there! I found this site completely randomly when browsing a reddit thread of recommendations on places to roleplay. Very intrigued and have been poking around a bit! You can call me Rani, and I'm a 35-year old woman who has been roleplaying in some form or another all my life. I started waaaaaay back when on the old AOL message boards when I was in elementary school, mostly pretending to be a Digidestined who had Digimon. 
I've grown a lot since then and have roleplayed in a lot of different mediums, though forum-based is what I always find myself coming back to. I wrote exclusively original characters for a long time, and then maybe 10 or so years ago, I started writing canon characters almost exclusively. I'm back to leaning more heavily towards OCs, and have been looking for a place to further develop a d&d character of mine in particular through my favorite type of writing -- written roleplay.
I love freeform roleplay, but I also love game mechanics and I love combining the two to create emergent storytelling experiences. I'm very flexible in terms of style.
I haven't been part of a writing community or had a place to write outside of my dnd group in probably approaching a year now, so I'm eager to get back into things.
Let's see...other things not related to writing and roleplay. I'm a proud cat mama of two wonderful kitty cats. I spend a lot of time playing video games in general, with Final Fantasy XIV taking up most of my free time at the moment. Though I love rpgs and adventure and story-driven games in general.
And I think that's it for now. I'm excited to explore this place further!

Sounds like you have a lot of good experience, and it's great to be flexible in freeform & game mechanics! I personally don't have a lot of experience with things like D&D, but have been interested in the idea of combining simpler mechanics and freeform (that's never easy, is it!?)

Welcome aboard! This is a great time to join RPR with it being Epic Week. Be sure to check that out. I relate to what you're saying. I started years ago using ProBoards, AOL, Yahoo Groups and a lot of other old school and obsolete places that no longer exist from the 90s and early 2000s. This is by far the best community I've found.
