Hello everyone.
I've never done some real and considerable RP on forums such as this. My past RPs were done on other platforms that are not forums and, from there, I heard about RPs that were done on forums.
Now, a bit of a story...
I have not been RPing for a long time.
The first time I was introduced to a forum, I thought it was some weird kind of Windows XP-level social media. Not giving forums more than a glance, I only saw them as an aged Internet Explorer mess and never vested much interest in them until I found myself a comforting hobby of RPing.
My first RPs were as nation-states in a modern or historical setting. Later, I learnt that to increase the depth of RP, I could take the role of the individuals within that nation-state, thus becoming my first introduction to character RP. At that time, my RPing ability was limited to at least two sentences per post, with character RP extending the length of my posts even further.
One time, I encountered a science fiction RP platform that, today, has ceased of all activity; at that time, people were writing very, very long posts. I was genuinely surprised by the amount of time spent in writing those posts, evident by the intervals between one post to the next and their length, spanning multiple paragraphs, containing words that I had to look up in the online dictionary, and a number of idioms and metaphors that my brain would not have been able to put together. It was a much higher level of RP that captivated my attention, even though I knew I wasn't prepared for it. My application did not speak of good quality writing and it showed when I wrote my first RP post that probably only spanned a paragraph with zero "decorative language" in it, compared to theirs looking like they tore a page off of a novel and posted it on the board. My involvement in it and the helpful friends there drove and assisted me to expand my English vocabulary (English is not my native tongue) so that I could start using those fancy adjectives, and read up on similar complex publications to help me write various forms of figures of speech like those metaphores I mentioned. They also helped me to write much longer, even for responses that could've been enough in short form; a dull, "No," was extended to, "Brainstorm, emotion-emotion, noise in my head, wind on my skin, etc., etc....no." I can write multiple paragraphs facilitated by a good mood, but the quality of my posts are still not fine.
That platform also helped me to discover my passion in science fiction RP, but mixed with some historical aspects. It's a nice, probably niche theme that I hope to share the fun of through RP with you people here.
As of this post, I'm still figuring out the forum itself and all the buttons, so. Thank you for your attention. I hope to fit in and improve my writing skills here through various forms of interaction, among others, RP.
